    This is a video on How to use a paint edger, specifically the shut-line brand. Using a Shur-Line Paint Edger is one of my favorite tricks to get professional-looking results while cutting in with less effort. It's a tool that helps you paint crisp, clean lines without using masking tape or any other materials. It has a small wheel at the edge of the pad which keeps the paint from going outside the line you want to paint. There are some tricks to getting the best results with the tool, but once you get used to it, you can quickly create smooth lines on any wall or surface.

    Why I'm just finding this tool I needed this last week paint two house I hate tapping off it more messy and time consuming than anything. Caulking the tape is good to, but I like this ideal better.

      Thank you. I just did a DIY paint job. I wish I had seen your information earlier. I'll bet if you focus on certain types of common problems people can overcome with tolls you will be a great success here. Have a great day brother.

      It does work well with 2 different colors. Just let the one wall dry before doing the other wall. Someone suggested applying the paint onto the Shur-pad with a paint brush assuring to not put too little or too much. It worked perfectly for me. Just need to be patient and not in a big rush. It's worth its weight in gold to not have to use tape or the frustration for those that have problems cutting in and not keep a steady straight line. Slow and steady wins the race:)

    Don’t dip the pad. Use your brush (2 1/2 square cut sash) to apply paint to the pad, brushing off the edges not on. Earlier versions of this edger had teeth on the inside of the pad so you could adjust how close it cut. This is particularly useful when cutting to a ceiling where you want to stay short so as not to get into wavy drywall jointing leaving a wavy cut line. Hopefully the ceiling paint done first filled the corner and came down the wall a little. Top down and Far to near are long standing painting rules

    One of the wheels on my edger stopped rolling due to paint drying on it. I am hoping it will work anyway.

    • @Handiest-pro
      @Handiest-pro  Před rokem

  • @Peter-wc4kr

    Dipping in the bucket of paint correctly so not to get any on the wheels could be harder than using an edge trimmer paint brush.

      Don't load it that way. Get a brush and paint the edger instead of dipping it. Much neater.

    Have tried these tools in the past, and always run into the same problem, no matter how careful I am, and that is getting paint on the rollers/front edge, that ultimately ends up with paint on the opposite edge.

    way way wayyyyyy too much paint. Load only the first 1-1 1/2 " from the wheels otherwise you end up with a paint line . NEVER have the whole pad filled with paint
