- Another round of before and after graphic designing with Satori Graphics, where I take famous designs that exist in todays world, and make small changes or adjustments for big results.
In todays video we are just looking at 3 different designs, but we do look at some pretty in-depth things and go into detail on why the changes made to create a better more efficient graphic design outcome.
I know that many of you love the before and after design content videos, and so I will keep making them, especially on existing or famous designs, as that then gives real world use on how such changes can be beneficial.

• Simple Tricks For BIG ...
On the first one I’m pretty there intent was to break it apart so it could be seen as two sentences, “everyone is beach body ready” and “beach body ready”. Thats my guess why ready is on the right side and not on the left.
I'm a "baby designer" especially with software, but I'm naturally VERY talented with eyes for arts. I'm a sick PERFECTIONIST who nothing impresses. But...
No jokes, Satori Graphics is the among my "few" best resources for pro and effective graphics design information. From his presentation to the actual designs and perspective, Mr Tom is outstanding.
No disruptive background noises, no breaks in thoughts/analysis, no needless repetitions, no bullshits, no confusion..... just facts after facts of information. Everything is well-organized, well-paced (slow n steady) and neatly executed. And the information: SPOT-ON!
Keep it up, Mr Tom, you're a class above. 🔥🔥🔥
Yup, i agree with ya
such a valuable series of before and after
really love these series
great to hear!
@@SatoriGraphics what is the name of the background music tho?
I've been looking for this kind of videos for a long time! Amazing work, great explanation and great editing!
Awesome, Satori! These series are incredible.
I love this series and your channel! It's great that you go more in depth with your process with every new episode
Glad you enjoy it bro
Sometimes they are just being to fancy and forgetting the basics like legibility.
They forget LEGIBILITY first
I love the way you present the design
For the " Commitment" part, i sadly don't agree with you. For a very simple reason: you cover the product. I often worked for lingerie/apparel ad and they NEVER want to cover their products. You don't sell " commitment", you sell a jacket. I personnaly would reduce the word and place it 1/3 from the top ( aligned with the head of the model), on the left of the design. Just my 2 cents :)
I thought this too - everything other re-design works but the moment it covered the jacket, it made me pause. Considering that the text is white on a greyscale image, and the jacket itself is pale in contrast, the placement of the typography really takes away the product. I would have maybe considered having it on a 180 angle on the side.
This being said, this video is invaluable in its context and I think is fantastic because it allows different opinions.
You're right and I thought so too, it's decorative but not so functional becuase when you furhter read the text it's clearly saying stuff regarding to that jacket. so how would you know what a jacket made of the uniforms of the heroes project veterans look like if couldn't properly see it :P
I agree, but that brand, in particular, isn't the average "visit-click-buy" brand. In that case, I think having the word stretch across the entire image implies the brand is trying to sell you on the image as well as the jacket. Just my two cents. Plus most people I know don't look at an ad and make their purchasing decision off the ad itself. If the ad is intriguing and the branding aligns with them, they'll investigate the individual product more. Either way, great video and fantastic creative conversation :)
also lol I didn’t mean to also put “my two cents” to be passive-aggressive. just realized that hahah
@@TakeNoteMusic No worries, your point was quite valid i think, something i should keep in mind for future projects. Thank you :)
You inspire not just me but other graphic designers, would be graphic designers and people who love designs in general to get better at identifying or creating great visual designs. God bless satori
BOOM!!! Fab vid and keen insight!!!
Instantly could see the problems with the SImplyBe ad before you jumped into things, I would have rearranged things pretty much exactly how you had! Loving the extra bit of contrast you've added in there with the white ("Every Body"). Such a nice touch.
I❤️ love these comparisons of you, they are awesome, keep it up.👍
Thank you! Will do.. you win the award for the longest CZcams name I've ever seen
Fricken LOVE these videos!! Your work is so incredible and I definitely am a fan over your designs then the originals 😊
Hey thanks Montser, hope you are doing well!
Thank you Satori. Learning a lot here from Saudi ♥️🇸🇦
Happy to help!
You are 'THE BEST'
Great as always Tom 👍
Love the redesign series. It is a practical application of whatever we have learnt. Much better than just learning theory.
I have a new video like this coming next week 👍
Thank you!
Just started watching this, i can say my designing will improve to great heights

Keep making these type of videos Pls. There are so many things for us to learn from you.
Seriously, thank you sooooo much for your channel!!!
Happy to help :))
Your videos are AWESOME. I learn so much - that is, in my opinion, what you tubers are capable of. Thank God I found your channel. I would love to hear more of your past design carrier path.
That Satori guy is awesome. One would just wish the videos never end, because they're always so engaging.
yes💖
thanks 4 your videos
Great video as always 🙂
Some great tips there. The first redesign looks far more balanced now. The second design had a bit of a tricky background but you made it work, and the H&M design looks far better than the original overly cluttered original. You gave it some room to breathe and it's a much cleaner design because of it.
cheers for the input
Thank you
Thanks Master 😊
i really like this channel !!!!!!!!!

For design no 2, I would prefer to use shadow behind the letters to emphasize more.
Good thing the fonts mentioned are all free

I love this kind of totu ❤
and I love making them :)
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I've really enjoyed your video.
I'm glad about that :)
Amazing work
But to be honest the first one still needs some work. I still like the original version of it. As it looks more balanced . The reasoning which you gave is absolutely right. But compared to both the original seems much balanced.
The second and third your version looked much better and balanced perfectly. 😊
We want more part of this type comparism
more to come for sure
loved it sirrrrr
thaaaaanks :D

Amazing
Thank you! Cheers!
I love reading your comments about what you would do. Would be interesting to have a video with multiple designers all redesigning the same visual. Collab?
we can use same type of icons for the SimplyBe.co.uk , using constant icon yes also designers thing to do right???
💖
:))
For the EQUINOX job, after resetting the text COMMITMENT i would have tried splitting the font colour, right down the middle of the T, so COMMI is in white, and MENT in black, with the T split down the middle, giving more contrast over what is a very busy background.
That May not work, but that's what i'd try just to see how it looks. The white over the grey is fine but gets lost over the lighter male image, black text over that image could pop more. The two tone black and white text could also give a nice feel.
Either way, yours is an improvement on what was a very poor original.
Same thoughts...I was thinking the commitment in white color was not looking right ir should have been in black or something..
I was wondering if the reason why the T in the original was white on light bg, because they wanted the word 'MEN' to draw the eye. First glance is to catch with a "typo", then as you glance at the pic, establish it is a men's collection too.
Im sorry, I quite liked the H&M design... I totally understand that the redesign was 100% better in terms of design principles, I quite enjoyed the previous version aesthetically (even though it could have been done even better in my opinion).
I'd go for a balanced look between the clean "design work" and "creative aesthetic way"... meat somewhere in the middle
I agree, while I think that knowing and using design principles is a huge part of good design work, there are times where breaking those rules can look better. I think the H&M original version still worked well even with the messy fonts because it maintained that H&M feel. I think the same for the Commitment one as well could have been redesigned better since he essentially covered the product. Just 2 cents lol.
@@vipercat3822 I liked the commitment one, even though a fancier font might look even better. I agree that some aspects of the design could be handled differently.
I am not a professional though. In the end, I think design is very subjective and will remain like that until AI takes our jobs. xD
@@ghost_of_a_dead_poet Very true, the end result is subjective just like most other forms of art or creation. And lets hope AI becomes more of our friend for design and less of an enemy haha XD.
I think the original designers might've had better designs but the clients asked them to change it. At least this happens to me a lot where my designs are turned into garbage by the client's changing it over and over simply because they want more stuff to be added into it while ignoring the fact that I'm the one who knows what would look best here. The clients have no past experience of UI/UX, Colors and whatnot.
keming brother
move the right block of text on the H&M example a few pixel higher. It will look better then. I see this often in your designs. You let elements "hang" on the bottom and this creates the illusion of heaviness. It is visually not balanced. You have also another low hanging element on the left. Which emphasises this effect even more.
Makes sense
The first one you did one mistake : we cant read "every body is ready" anymore.
Disagree with the first one. The designer is mimicking the contrapposto (asymmetrical weight shift) of the model with the font. You completely ignored that aspect with your redesign.
that's true although it seems like the original just gave it some attitude. what he did was kinda simply following the rules he always makes sure to give us in those videos. it's not wrong and actually visually pleasing just more of a classic "FB cover/billboard" type of layout. nothing too artistic
Also, what would you have done with the social icons and the branding name? because those are all over the place and we shouldn't search for them in a design or worse miss them out. PLUS brand name almost looks like a signature even. so if that's not the case i'd maybe put it below "ready" or something and not on the bottom right - like a signiture.
Yes, I actually disagree with the three of them, but for the first one, the model is inserted in the middle of the text as a punctuation mark, she merges with the text. There is also a rhythm effect with the wording "every body is"... "beach body ready", then the brand is inserted like a signature. The design works fine, the composition is balanced, there is an overall strong central continuous bold shape. The redesign has a weaker composition, elements are shattered apart, the model is treated like a foreign element. The font draws too much attention with the funky "o", it looks cartoony and funny. The original intent is to make a bold statement and empower the viewers (potential clients) to be proud of their curves, not to make a humorous statement. It is intended to be taken seriously.
I agree with the critique at H&M. But I do not agree with the solution (which is totally fine, design is subjective to an extent). Exclusive is a part of the logo, it’s called H&M conscious exclusive, it’s a ‘lux’ clothing Line within the H&M Concious Line. It’s super confusing when you stumble upon it, when you aren’t the key audience ;-)
My dear brather
howdy
After you changed the text 'EVERY BODY' from black to white it affects the contrast and is difficult for some people to read it properly
I think h&m redesign wasnt airy enough for a lace dress, to heavy..
Satori, how do I get notified for these competitions, if it's proper to tag them so?
*Note: I'm already an old member here.
Can anyone tell me the font name which is used in the first poster design (Yellow Poster)
#SatoriGraphics
please tell us about the fonts hehe
Hi how and where i can submit my design ?
Hey just a heads-up. The first ad is done like this on purpose to mimick a controversial ad that was banned in the UK "Are you beach body ready?" Google it there will be multiple articles.
Yeah because it's a parody design his critique doesn't really apply
Peace
You never announced the result for Sale Poster Design...being busy in house shifting I could only take part in that one and that was my first ever attempt at desigining so I curious to see others' approaches on that design but you didn't share..
I did announce them.. you need to watch all of my videos.

Actually I think the original equinox Commitment design looked better.
Even though the H&M design was too crowded and crazy, the redesign looks to me a little bored
Why do people send their portfolios to be critics by you please?. Thank you.
How can you say the equinox text is placed at random when the M and N share edges directly aligned with the background object behind them? The thing about design is, once something is already designed, you can do anything to it and feel it's an improvement. I think the novelty of change is overrated, and I think a lot of 'effective' and 'best practice' design cues are not as well received by the public as they are by discerning designer eyes. The world is over-complicated by the need to 'perfect' what at the end of the day will always be art. Structure is an illusion.
0:30 Oh s*#". At first i thought you gonna say, issue is a ffbig size girl...
If I wanted to kill my channel and commit social suicide, then yes.
😆💚 please don't
your changes for the first one doesnt feel balance
In the first design, I think you forgot what the text really means. In the original design, it said “Every body is beach body” AND “Everybody is ready”. Your new design looks good but really destroys the original intention of the text and “Every body is beach body ready” looks weird.
the photo in the first design is horrible. It doesn't bring the right message. It says "f**k you, I don't care". Which can be rather seen as a lack of self-confidence. Also the yellow is not a friendly color. The model should be relaxed and smile and just have a natural and friendly pose to show that she feels great.
Love your channel, but after all of your three interventions, the designs have lost my attention. Legibility is not the most important thing.
