    This has been the most well received series on my channel Satori Graphics. People have enjoyed watching the before and after content, and following along while seeing small changes made to graphic designs, that result in a big difference.
    Graphic design is a lot like a formula, where you can apply certain rules and end up with a great result. Yes it's also creative, but there is also a methodical approach behind it too. Making small changes to graphic designs in this before and after style, is really a great things to understand and learn for your very own career.
    If you found todays compilation of the very best before and after designs here at Satori Graphics enjoyable or useful, let me know in the comments section and drop a like on your way out. Subscribe to stay updated to all of my uploads and until next time, design your future today, peace

    The fashion sale poster after the redesign, I still feel like it lacks in contrast. The word sale should be focused and highlighted.

    I think the hand in the VR poster should be preserved because it is a key aspect of playing with VR which is feeling like you're in a different world despite being in the same place. The hand shows the exploration part of it which I think is important to preserve.

      The goal is to advertise the product, not advertise virtual reality ... Don't forget it!

      I think the point for the client is to sell the technology and I immediately felt drawn to buy into the product in the revision but I was actually too distracted by the design and focal points to really follow the point of the original ad.

  • @user-wk8vo4ju7o
    @user-wk8vo4ju7o Pƙed 2 lety +9

    9:01 the designers here tried to achieve a fashion magazine look so that's why they used too many fonts and overall it meets the vibe...the reason they choose text color all white bcoz the main focal point was the dress and not the text.

  • @F0xtastic
    @F0xtastic Pƙed 2 lety +191

    I love all these designs including the Fashion Sale poster, but I will say I feel the Fashion Sale poster was really reduced down to a very stereotypical sale style whereas the original, while RIDICULOULSLY too cluttered, had a bit more character and style. I would have liked to see it retain just a degree more of artsy elements to make it feel more unique and trendy rather than going all the way to the red tone and two shapes that feels like any old department store.
    That said, your design is worlds better in readability and I'd take it over the original any day!

    • @jm0062
      @jm0062 Pƙed 2 lety +20

      I agree, a lot of people are afraid of detail making their designs "cluttered" or "too busy", but I think that's way better than the opposite extreme, where everything is so oversimplified, generic, minimalistic and ultimately boring.
      Detail and complexity gives your design style and identity. I'll take those dots and arrows and scattered shapes over a flat white background and a circle any day of the week.

      @christopherw.3063 Pƙed 2 lety +6

      I love the concept of the original! I don’t think it needed to be simplified. Rather it needed more emphasis on the important information. Keep the flow of the poster. Also, I was wondering if “SALE” needed to be the one with the bold blue rather than “FASHION” because the purpose of the poster is to show that there is a sale. Good choice btw with making the 30% off bit stick out more!

    Really enjoy your work and the improvements you've made are evident.
    One thing I see slightly differently, though. Working as a designer, realistically one rarely has the option or possibility of choosing whatever font or colour scheme you wish.
    Most brands are completely bound to a font and colour scheme as dictated by boring, but nonetheless existent brand guidelines.
    There are so many times working professionally where I know I could have made massive improvements if I had free rein, but realistically that's rarely the case (very often even imagery is dictated) and you just have to make the best job you can of it because to one degree or another your hands are tied.

  • @WillPage
    @WillPage Pƙed 2 lety +30

    The VR one looks just like one of my designs. Honestly, I think the original is better, the text fitting the curves/shape of the image, but I do like highlighting the call to action. Being a landing page, a subtle animation can be used to draw attention to the button too. I think the margin consistency (padding) around the elements in relation to the edge of the page on the existing one too. Great design IMO.

    For the "What goes into the ocean" redesign, I loved the hierarchy you made. However, that last line I would have pulled it away from the big group of text so it stood out a bit more. And I would have removed one of the two exclamation points. (!!) Lastly I would have made the PLASTIC POLLUTION as the red font. It drops the point that yes you're looking at sushi, but it's plastic garbage.

    Lots of wonderful observations, tips, and reworkings.
    Now while pretty much every change can work well on a landing page, I think there may be problems from a brand continuity perspective when you take one page from a full site and tweak an element (eg. Design 7) so that it works on THAT page, but no consideration is given to other places in the site where that element appears. I'm not saying Satori is doing that (these are all "one of" examples"), but I would advise caution with some of this.

    I think on the fashion one you cleaned the poster very well but i would have kept the edginess of the poster which makes it unique, with the circle and straight type it turned out to be generic in my opinion.

    Massive improvements for design 3 no question about that but in my opinion I think the colour for the 'sale' in the title is too low contrast. I would've experimented with the colour a bit and maybe add that box shape behind it from the original design to make it stand out more.

    How were you able to recreate the posters? Were the poster elements downloaded separately? Or, did you do that yourself? If so, can you tell me how?

    Not going to lie I prefer the original look for the first design or the plastic pollution design but it’s always interesting to see other peoples takes and ideas for unique designs and ideas đŸ‘đŸ»

    In the US there is also ADA to keep in mind and a lot of the text needs a lot more contrast between backgrounds and colors.
