    Had an order for one of these in Flame Blue, but that ended up dragging on and on. Managed to find a gently used '21 6MT in Galactic Aqua Mica about a month ago without paying too too much more than I wanted(considering the used car market being what it is). It's been an excellent car. Close to 40mpg on my work commute and in the 30s around town; the chassis feels great, the clutch and shifter feel pretty good... overall it's a great daily.

    Hey everybody, I'm wondering if the 6-speed manual is a better performance transmission vs the CVT transmission? I know that these Corollas are not for racing, but these Corollas can be improved to a point. I would think that the CVT transmission is not made for performance and aggressive driving. Everybody will drive their cars as fast as possible, and you know that you have always wanted more power when you need it. This low cost Corolla has substantial aftermarket parts that are available to improve its performance. I want to buy one, but (not) with the CVT transmission...

    I really wanted to like these.. I drove one, it was small, cramped, and hard to see out of, and while i do understand the IMT, i really think a manual transmission should have a traditional E-brake. Also, these aren't that light.. 3060 with 168Hp. Vs something like a base VW GTI that's 3K more expensive, weighs 90lbs more, but has almost 100HP more and over 100Lbft of torque more.. For what it is, it's expensive, and not really worth it.. that said, the new Corolla GR is set to hit the shores of the US in August 2022. Which is this chassis, 247HP and 301Lbft with only a manual transmission.. Fingers crossed we get that, as at that point i wouldn't care about the visibility or cramped seating for basically a new wave GT4 Toyota.

      @@RoadandTract I’m comparing price. Your video mentions good value, comparing it to a base GTI is it really good value?

      @BuddyTheCat I have Corolla GR Circuit on order.. So i hear ya.. but dollar for dollar if you're just looking at value for performance, the GTI is a much better vehicle to drive, not to own long term or to compare reliability, or even resale value. Just straight up performance, it's hard to beat.

      Actually, the MSRP was just a bit over 23.7K. This car had options added like the adaptive headlights and some cosmetic things that bumped the price up.

    I am going to order one but I don't know if I am able to negotiate with this crappy market condition. Were you able to get any discounts on this?

    • @RoadandTract
      @RoadandTract  Před 2 lety +3

      You can't order and negotiate. Just like real estate, sellers get more anxious to sell as each day passes. Cars get sold within 7 days. Dealers can wait a week for the right buyer. When you order, it sold in 0 days. No room to negotiate, but you can get the price in writing and if you can accept paying full price, you are on target. Never pay over sticker.

      All dealers will go down in price if you walk out on them especially if you’re a serious customer w money and good credit. They aren't selling Mona Lisa’s just mass produced cars. Unless your going for something super rear or need to be first to own something don’t pay over sticker.
