    Actually I think the new lowcost solar panel/bulb sets with a SEPARATE solar panel are a more useful and novel idea. (considering their much lower prices than the old full solar setups) They can be used in a shop, garage or shed in an area where there's no power. Items such as the "Light Me" products you've reviewed on Amazon. These power failure lights here that come on when power fails have been around for quite some time! You just leave them in outlets and they come on when power fails.

      I have and like both but I sort of like the emergency lighting aspect that is automatically triggered during a power loss. Both serve a great purpose of course, just depending on the current need I suppose.

      @unherdac Před 7 lety +1

      I like this light for the specific purpose of installing it in a windowless bathroom when the power goes out. Beats the heck out of having to carry a lantern around. How many times do we flick on the light switch during a power outage even though we know the power is out? I have many types of lanterns, a large back up solar system to power LED lamps, gobs of flashlights and camping bulbs and none of these (to me) are as intuitive as just flicking on a light switch. Very innovative product as a renewable source of intuitive lighting.

      @Tw3akst3r  Před 7 lety +1

      I agree. I have a nightlight that switches on during power outages in a bathroom without windows. I also have battery powered shop lights, flashlights, power banks and solar lights of many types. IF power was out for long I would certainly not be worried about lighting things!

      I like your video of this bulb as well. I use the same lighting type setup, the clamp light but I use a corn bulb... you should check them out if you want insane brightness. I use them to light my little white review box. ;-)

    Is the solar bulb will explode if i charge via electricity by pluging or use 3 pin holder switch/socket and not from sunlight?

    Will it work in a Outdoor Lamp Post that has no electricity?

    • @Tw3akst3r
      @Tw3akst3r  Před 3 lety

      It is a standard base and will screw into the fixture and as long as it is charged it should work fine. It has a little hook and power button so you have that option as well.

    • @mediaguy563
      @mediaguy563 Před 3 lety

      Thanks for your reply. I want it to turn on at night and go out at dusk. Do you think that is possible? The only way to charge would be from the sun because there is no electricity going to the Lamp Post.

      @Tw3akst3r  Před 3 lety

      @@mediaguy563 See the small white piece with a hook and a black button at 1:09 ?
      That is what turns it on. It charges in sunlight obviously but even when exposed to light if that button is pressed it's on sunlight or darkness.
      If you use the one without the button it is on when screwed into that but turns off with the sun. Sadly the one without the button broke.
      I tried putting it into a normal lamp without power and it does not turn on. You can trick it though, much like the light bulb magic trick, you just connect the tip to the screw part on the sides. If that doesn't make sense I found an old video from 2010 that shows what I mean perfectly. You'll just need a wire or strip of metal (copper ideally I'd think). Check out this video at 0:36 czcams.com/video/-IXhNuQPsec/video.html
      Hope that helps.

    If it's plugged into a mains lamp holder, can it detect the difference between turning the wall switch off, and an actual power cut?

    • @Tw3akst3r
      @Tw3akst3r  Před 3 lety

      I don't think it can tell the difference but I am not 100% sure. I moved so it's packed up now and power outages where I lived when it was in use were extremely rare and I don't recall now how it behaved. I might be able to locate it and test it out later today while installing a smart switch so if I do that I'll edit this reply with my findings.

    • @BedsitBob
      @BedsitBob Před 3 lety

      @@Tw3akst3r I was thinking that, if it does detect the difference, you could install then over machines in a workshop, so you don't find yourself in pitch darkness, standing in from of a lathe, milling machine, circular saw, etc., which is running down, due to a power cut.

    • @Tw3akst3r
      @Tw3akst3r  Před 3 lety

      @BedsitBob I found it but it isn't working now (tried 3 different sockets) though it was before the move. Maybe it was dropped or something. I have another light that comes on automatically when the power goes out but my parents gave it to me so I don't know any details on it sadly. It isn't solar either though. Sorry I cannot offer much to help.

    I tried to use this to lit my chicken coop using a 12V switch. I had to use a voltage converter to convert the 3.7V into 12V so that the switch would operate. However, I could not switch the unit on as long presses turn the unit off (ie. when the switch is on). Is there a way around so that it just needs power to turn on and off? Neat little device though.

    • @Tw3akst3r
      @Tw3akst3r  Před 4 lety

      I am uncertain of how to advise what you are trying to attempt, the other twist switch I imagine would only make it more difficult than trying to use the push button switch. I doubt the switch could be easily modified.
