Good question. I don't know if it will ever fully charge with the 3 small solar panels so I will have to try plugging it in to the light socket for 7-8 hours like it recommends and then test it.

No, that is not the case. These are not landscape lights and don't have a light sensor to automatically come on when it is dark.

By sunlight charge 8 hrs will give you 2 hrs lighting, by AC charge 4-6 hrs will give you 4-5 hrs
