- In this video I install doors and drawers on the kitchen cabinets. I also trim out the kitchen cabinets with tongue and groove, so they look a little better.

Take a drink each time I say cabinet, and I am not responsible for what comes after lol

Migraine Craftsman lol 😂 you are so funny !!
i dfid like you asked and bnow i am not sure what is going on. great video as usual. kseep up the good work.

Some folks live in debt. Not bad looking cabinets especially to start. A person could always remodel with thicker or more durable ones later. Like this little house. Golden oak is nice;)Take care and thanks for sharing your builds.
Thx, these should last a while and the price is right and they are easy to finish.
Looks great. Love the two windows, rather than one, over the sink. Keeps the space feeling more open.
Thx, ever since I have done that on the cabin build I really like how the kitchen feels with 2 windows.
The view alone is priceless! I love the bright natural wood look...Going to be a peaceful retreat for the owner. Nice job, MC!
Nice to see you Marsha, glad you are still kickin :)
Holding on and pressing in!😆
Awesome job! Love to see how you give back to the home owner with your detail and design.
I like you as a good human being.
Love the details...what an amazing view, too!
I would have flipped the doors on the pantry around by the fridge. Haha you OCD infected my brain. Good work
I still might do that, but well see what my customer ends up deciding. We talked about it and she might use that as a coat closet, so for now it works out.
You are so super talented and do great work ! I love all the details you add to your homes.
I think you do a fantastic job on any thing you do! Like my dad always said “ do a job that would make a turd look good”! 😊. Not that you are polishing a “turd” but you work magic with whatever you do! 😊😊
lol Thx Jo
Yes,I see that....lol.....its beautiful...including the view!
What a beautiful view looking out the window. That is one other reason you sold the house before you even finish it. Nice job picking out the location to build
Regards
I'm also going to put in a solid glass storm door on that side so she can have that open and enjoy the view.
That is one good looking fella
Well done
I've missed a number of your videos due to being very busy, and sometime between now and then your audio quality has improved a lot, so well done on that front, too
Thx, still working on that btw, there is room for improvement.
Good morning! Even though it is 1pm!!
My husband and I hope to build a home like this, we are tired of renting. Just need to save up enough first! Thank you for the inspiration and being willing to share prices 💛
/cheers you'll get it, make sure your credit scores are good too.
What a beautiful view from the kitchen windows. Happy for the prospective buyer but will be sad to see this one go.
How have you been feeling MC?
Thank you for asking, I'm all right, my head did hurt some of these days but I'm used to it(I don't want to complain ever other video) . If you see me with white stuff in my ears (home made earplugs) my head usually hurts and I do it to cut out the noise.
Cool video, thank you. Have you ever thought about using IKEA cabinets?
I like ikea but they are too far away from me and a bit pricey compared to these.
@@MigraineCraftsman Keep me on your list if you ever need custom built. I absolutely love your ideas and I run shaker style out of the shop. I would love to drive up and brain storm with you on my own small house as well.
I talked to one of the most successful cabinet makers/installers in my area. You wanna know what he does? He buys bare IKEA cabinets and finishes them out himself. Sounds kinda crazy but he can buy a whole cabinet for less than he can buy the materials to build one himself. Then he makes and installs doors, drawers, face frames and paints/stains them to whatever the customer wants. He realized the only thing that matters to people is "does the front look the way I want it to?".... and the rest is just whatever. Of course this takes time, skill, and some tool investment but I've built a similar kitchen to another family member. He spent just over $25,000 on his complete remodel and did none of it himself. I spent $3,000 on mine and redid everything with all the modern Blum soft close hinges and drawer slides, the extra drawers, the hidden garbage/recycling cabinet, and all those little things people really like. It came out really well and we've had it now for 4 years. I bet it will last at least another 20 before we have any issues. And by that time styles will change anyway and we will be ready for something else.
@@MrClarkisgod You did good, and that is exactly why I am showing people how this comes together. It takes some time and a bit of skill but if you do it yourself you have a boat load of money $$$$ and it can look good.
Do you sell your house plans for building this kind of home? Love your videos. Interesting. Have a great day. GM 🌞 😁 from Indiana.
I will eventually, I still need to finish my website which is half way done.
I love the ceiling! For me, I would prefer the tall cabinet/pantry to open the other way - towards the fridge/range/sink. It doesn't make sense to have open away from the kitchen.
It makes sense to me. That space would be so narrow if the doors opened in the other direction.
@@OhanaLulu Why would it be narrower? The doors would open equally wide if turned towards the kitchen.
Steph, my customer will use the other pantry for food items this one might be a coat closet. I can always flip them for her if she wants as well. Shes still not 100% decided what will go there, I even told her if she want I can put another pantry next to it shes got the room for it.
@@MigraineCraftsman A coat closet would be a great idea! Smart.
Awsom job buddy what part of ga you in I’m in ga myself
Mountain country
May I ask Where do you build your homes? Do you have a website? Do you buy property and then your clients buy from you and the home that you build for them? Also I really enjoy watching you you’re Very calming and educational. One day I would hope to have a come from you in the mountains by a lake.
I usually buy the property and list it when it's almost done or sell it before it's finished (no agent) like this build. So it all depends on what presents itself. I build in Nc and Ga.
👍😁
Great job. What about buying cabinets from a surplus local store? Also how much is the granite costing?
My surplus stores dont have all the cabinets I need but if they did that is exactly what I would do. As for granite I'll cover that once it gets installed.
Migraine Craftsman 👍👍
Has the increase in lumber prices made things difficult for you? I am getting plans drawn now for a spec home to sell in Alabama and the lumber prices are outrageous. What are your thoughts on this?
On this build I bought lumber when it was in the early stages of going up. Now a days lumber is insane same with trusses and sheathing.
This will level of eventually, but I don't think we will go to the old prices, the new base price will be higher once the dust settles.
New construction will be higher from now on, so affordable housing will be even harder to get, that is my 2 cents, and I hope I am wrong on that one.
How did you get started building these houses?
I was building my own house and then decided to do it as a business, that is the short story.
Do you think it would be cheaper to buy used cabinets? I know that wouldn’t be a good idea for you since you’re selling the house but for me since I’m going to be letting my parents live there. I wonder if buying used would be cheaper even still.
Not a fan of used stuff for my new builds. I sell these to people and I dont want the used stigma attached to my homes. On the other hand if you are doing it for yourself, that is a great idea, Habitat has some good pricing on used items. I seen doors and windows go for less then 50 bucks, same with some furniture.
@@MigraineCraftsman I was at Home Depot today and saw a dent ding cabinet for $49 that was originally $100. I didn’t even see any damage.
@@abefarrar Some damage you can even cover up and it looks like brand new but for half the price as you said.
My boss paid 2500 for the cabinets in my house. They were originally over 15k plus. All hardwood with slow close hardware etc (minus knobs which I bought off eBay and installed.). They also came with a sink and faucet, and a basic counter top. We bought them from a place that was redoing a show room space. We had to go take them down and load them up ourselves, but for the savings and the quality they are great. A few dings here and there, but nothing you would not have after a year of use anyhow.
As MC said. Habitat is also great. I purchased my dining room light fixture from there, and a bunch of bathroom fixtures, which are insanely priced at retail.
Hey - where did those pendant lights come from? Did I miss the video where you installed those?
They look really nice! They're kinda like kitchen jewelry. ;)
Those came from Lowes, about $20 each plus the glass which was 6 or 7 bucks.
The previous build (cabin) I bought from Home Depot.
Can you get the unfinished cabinets with soft-close hinges or do they only come standard?
No they come with standard hinges. You can buy the soft close bumpers from ebay for less than $2.00 a door. It will be for the doors only, not sure about the drawers.
Correct me if I'm wrong but from the camera viewpoint it appears that the pantry cabinet doors overlaps the swing arc of the back door to the house meaning if the pantry cabinet doors are open and someone tries to enter the house the back door are going to push against the cabinet doors. Also, where will you place a door stop so the back door does not bash against the cabinets if flung open?
How about the ac? Did you end up liking it?
Can just stick a removable rigid stopper with rubber between them i guess that would limit both door opening fully at the same time so in that way they wont bang each other when both are opened. Maybe both doors should be limited to 80° swing.
When did you film this?
