The fact that they are unwilling to change or admit mistakes is what makes them dangerous to themselves and inexperienced horse people who think they know what they're doing.

I used to support Tara quite a bit, she's not a professional and she seemed to be doing alright with her horses. That is until a more recent video where she took Bella to a super busy main road to "desensitise" her to cars. But the whole video was Bella being "excited" (more like terrified), being on a long rope and being so uncontrolled by all those speeding cars. There's no excuse for that, the drivers were absolutely not to blame you can't expect them to slow down in a 50mph zone just because you decided to bring your horse to the road, and of course the entire video she blamed the drivers and yelled at Bella to "stop being silly". I'm very surprised nothing happened in that video I was so convinced someone was going to get seriously hurt. I just can't support her after that, it showed so little understanding and thought about the dangers she put a horse in.

I started watching their channel a while ago and fell in love with their freisan horse Apollo, he is stunning and a real gentleman, Over time I started getting a bit annoyed by all the sickly sweet comments and utter drivel from people who obviously know nothing about horses, The horses are very well looked after but I don't get a sense of actual love from the owners more like a possession, any criticism is met with comments like 'Each to their own' It's their way and that's that, I feel like the husband is just pandering to his wife and everything is about her, I don't think he's comfortable around horses and it shows, I find her to be very bossy and rude, just rushing up behind people shouting ' can I come by' as if everyone should just get out of the way, there was a video I really didn't like of her trying to make bella stand at the mounting block and each time bella moved she would punish by making her go backwards at a really fast pace that looked so uncomfortable for bella, I wish they would take the good advice given but sadly they too far up their own backsides to listen!

That video you are talking about with Bella moving and being lunged in small circles really made me angry. This poor green unconditioned filly was being punished, not just moving her feet. You could see her getting very tired. When Tara brought her to the block for her to get on, she shifted her weight for balance and Tara made this very weary filly run around on the lunge once more. There's no rhyme or reason to her training so I'm not surprised Bella became very resistant.

When I saw a video where Tara was "jumping" with her Friesian, you only had to look at the way she was riding the horse heavily, the unsuitable equipment and the way she fell like a bag in her saddle while the horse jumped to realize that she has neither experience nor respect for her horses. Not everyone has a professional level, everyone does what they can, but this woman has no humility. Other than screaming, complaining and making excuses I saw nothing in her videos but incompetence, she looks like a spoiled little girl.

This is very interesting…I’ve watched Tara’s videos on and off for a couple of years, and have always admired her gorgeous, intelligent horses (I do find her riding style difficult to watch…English old-school, heavy, unrefined hunting type seat and unstable lower leg). I’ve always felt bad for Farouk in particular who seems a sensitive fish out of water amongst the rest of the family…he is an intuitive, special animal who is teaching Tara how to ride from emotional intelligence and not from learnt behaviour. This video is really eye-opening though about the overall attitude and lack of sensitivity in the household…I don’t think there is any deliberate bullying here, more a lack of refinement and openmindedness.

The filly is now four years old with a mindset that she doesn't want to be bothered with all this and is acting aggressively as a result. I just watched the last two posted videos and the bucking and charging the filly was doing. I posted to the first video with a link to a video from Tim Anderson dealing with a young horse that he'd just gotten in that had the same attitude problems. The upshot was I quickly got a notification from CZcams that the post had been removed as it was labeled "harassment" and if I did it again CZcams would remove my posting privileges. So, no, they are not interested in watching videos that might help them with their filly's problems.

Allowing him to handle this green strong willed reactive young mare is a recipe for disaster and put him in real danger . All animals can smell the fear on you and are far more capable of reading our body language than we are of theirs . They definitely need some help before they are seriously injured or worse .

There’s no attempt to calm her down or redirect her before the complete meltdown that everyone could clearly see was about to happen. Tara leaves the arena immediately as her desperate 3 yr old horse FLIPS out and races around in sheer panic until she’s finally exhausted at which point Tara then gives her, you’ll never guess, a TREAT. Good job realizing that you’re on your own with these two, Bella.

Bella has come a long way not because of the person "training" her but because she is trying really really hard to understand and be rewarded with praise. However, some day she is going to bolt, buck, or do something in response to her confusion and the rider will be seriously injured. Then the poor animal will be labelled uncooperative and dangerous. The one good thing I can say about the "trainer" is that she takes decent care of two of the three horses she has, meaning nice shelters, adequate feed, grooming, farrier work. One horse is thin and overworked, not given proper nutrition for the amount of work it does for the "trainer." Endurance rides are wearing the animal out and the "trainer" doesn't seem to notice, thinks the animal enjoys the exercise.

He is elderly. Not as mobile as he was as a young man. It's a situation that can't be changed. He is afraid of horses but is doing his bit with them, because thats his part in his wifes life. His attempts to connect with the horses is often 'uncomfortable' to watch. I frequently watch Tara's videos and sit here yelling 'shut up Rens'. They've already been riding her. I don't remember if she started the Friesen under saddle or not, but she started the Arab under saddle and those videos are an absolute disaster, horrible horrible training. Forget watching thriller/action movies, just watch those videos. But anyway, every riding video with this mare is so bad, just sloppy, everything is the horse's fault, and its just constant cramming treats in her mouth and when she isn't getting treats she starts getting irritated and pushy and difficult/dangerous. Then she concludes the horse is lame and that's the reason for the problems, nevermind that they 1)chose a horse with what I can only assume is very poor breeding because she is not even close to a breed standard for Andalusians, based solely on "it's cool to have an Andalusian!", she's cheaper than a quality Andalusian, she's a unique color, and she checks the box for being able to label her a rescue as the breeders had poor conditions on their farm, and obviously only bred for 2 things: the name of the breed and color. No selective breeding for good conformation, longevity, hoof quality, or behavior/temperament.... and 2)constant pulling, yanking, fighting, and neglecting to establish softness in the horse but rather teach it that resistance is the only option causes the horse to move with very poor body mechanics, which can cause injury, lameness, over developing certain muscles while leaving other important ones underdeveloped and can make the horse appear lame even if its technically not. For example, a horse lunging in a circle may appear to be limping because instead of them being soft in the face and moving around the circle well balanced, shoulder up and soft thru the ribs and hip, they are more focused on getting further away from the source of the pressure, the human, they are pulling and going around with their head and nose in the air and to the outside of the circle, dropping the shoulder and pushing the ribs and hips inward. Its awkward and very unbalanced, they will stumble and trip a lot, they may even "limp" even though they are not technically lame from the standpoint of physical testing.

I feel bad for him honestly, the lady filming should have stopped filming and gone out to help or guide him on how to get through it. If he had taken a moment to just relax, and soften his grip the whole wrestling fight trying to get the headcollar off would never have happened. He's probably terrified, and if the horse really wanted to it'd easily take off and just pull him over. It's not even this guy's fault he clearly has no idea what he's doing, its whoever left him in charge of turning the horse out on his own that's the problem, and then wasn't on hand to teach or take over from an over-escalated situation.

Well basically because neither of them understand horses. In her mind, this is horse training. The old fashioned way of training horses, children, dogs was that you taught them to avoid punishment by doing what they were told. Even in that system, you have to be clear about what you want, and make sure that the child/pet understands what you want them to do. These people haven’t gotten to that step yet. They want to skip steps and have the horse be a mind reader.
So they skip to the fear part. “I told you twice. If you don’t do it, you’re being bad. I’ll hit you.”

So there’s no real relationship, it’s just a fear-based compliance model where the child/pet walks around either avoiding the trainer whenever possible, being hit a lot, or becomes hyper-attuned to every behavior of the “trainer”, merely to avoid punishment. None of the long term outcomes are good.

This is a very good video to show people how differently they may act around and handle different horses. People often think they are handling all horses the same way but that simply isn't true. It's instinctual, for better or for worse. For worse with this guy and poor Bella.

England is a cold, wet place. The fields, when wet, can get chewed up until they're nothing but muddy slop. That can be dangerous for the horses. Some people have a large indoor arena they can turn the horses loose in, but these people do not. The best they could do in those conditions is work the horse or turn it loose in their sandy training arena.

@@peterk8909 Umm... Weather can injure, or even kill, both humans and animals. If conditions outdoors are dangerous, you should avoid being outdoors.
Standing in soggy mud 24/7 can harm a horse. Even in a grassy field that's too big for hooves to turn into a mud pit, wet conditions can cause toxic growths on the grass, which could poison livestock if they eat it. Most horse owners in England do not have a field that big.
Both Rick and the couple in this video have had to put down material near the field shelters to stop the mud from getting ankle deep or worse. They've done it to improve living conditions for their horses.
Yes, climate and weather can and do affect people's actions and how they choose to care for their animals.
I'm not saying the weather is to blame for what went on in this particular video, though.

Not hating on these people but after training horses for many years some of the biggest issues here are there is no reward of released pressure for doing the right thing (while leading her and she got the pressure release, her head immediately dropped), unhooking the throat latch instead of unbuckling the halter since she obviously has a problem with the halter going over her ears, looking her directly in the face (predators do this to prey animals which, in turn, causes fear and flight or fight response in prey animals such as horses), getting frustrated with the horse (yes, you can be frustrated or mad but keep in on the inside - not on the outside by yanking, yelling, pointing etc) and finally, allowing it to move the person handling it (this causes the horse to learn very quickly that it's stronger than you and will therefore realize that you are not the dominant being)
