A Horse is a Reflection Of YOU - Same Horse Moved By Two People Notice The Difference

  • Most all horse problems are People problems. When you change your horse changes. A horse is a mirror of you, if you do good the horse does good, if you do bad the horse does bad. That is why I say the idiots out there calling their horse names like stupid crazy or dumb, are really describing themselves.

    It’s not her horse, it’s an Arabian stallion he does shows with. It’s his horse. The point of this was to give her her first lesson in Liberty work.
    Frederick Pignon does liberty work with stallions . It’s all he does. His shows are always very simple, it’s always about moving his horses with pressure and release. I think he’s a great trainer, I’ve always seen him be very respectful and gentle with his horses. It’s too bad he let himself get dragged into this : his horses are probably not the best choice for first timers...

His brother, Jean-François Pignon (I've seen him twice but haven't had the chance to talk to him) and is also into horse shows. Both do full liberty work but Frédéric (the guy in the video) is known for his freestyle work on the ground, he also works in a big show that tours around the world called Cavalia. the French are well known for their work in show with horses. Having met him and studied his and his brother's work I can assure you they are very honest and kind with their horses. Also having talked to him he really is very calming to even be around and knows what he's talking about.

I speak french. these are the brothers pignon who grew up with horses and apparently they now have a horse spectacle something like Siegfried & Roy and their tigers. the brothers are showing her how they work with horses without whips, restraints or harnesses and the horses are trained so that they cooperate by their own volition. he says to let the horse win. when the horse wins, you win. let the horse associate his training with pleasure not pressure. he also says to show the horse that you are confident and assertive - not to pressure the horse but to establish heirarchy and to allow the horse to relax because he knows you are there to protect him. these brothers speak horse.

    Many people, like this guy in the video, are good with horses, but can't describe in words why they're good with horses. For example, this guy says something like, "Send him away," and that's all he says. But, Rick, you fill that out with so much information so I can finally understand what the hell is going on. I have so many gaps in my understanding because people cannot, or will not, or I don't know what ... maybe they don't actually know ... they won't describe it fully. (And I've come and gone repeatedly from the horse world, so I have gaps because of that too.) I've seen lots of comments on your videos of people complaining you talk too much. Oh, hell no. Talk, and talk, and talk, and talk. Just babble on all you want. I'm finally understanding why I've had the problems and insecurities with horses. Thank you for talking and talking!

    Only 2 minutes into the video. I had to make a comment about the women being so fearful of her own horses. Reminds me of a time, I had moved in with this women, before understanding how batshit crazy she was. She was also "The best horse trainer and nutritionist in the world" just ask her.... She went to catch her horses one day, she was very CLEARLY scared when they were running around near her, after about an hour of the horses not letting her catch them, and then when running towards her she would panic with her arms flailing around so "they wouldn't run her over" I got fed up.
    I went out, laid down on my back, I knew the horses well by this time, they were spirited, but they were not mean nor would they ever think of stepping on you. They were just playful, they came galloping towards me they split and went past me, just laying there, at a trot. They quickly circled around came back to me, stopped and started nuzzling me. I reached up and scratched them, and then slowly got to my feet, calmly put a rope around their necks, and waited. :)
    The look on that witch's face when I caught her horses in under 30 seconds, when she as the "world's greatest horse trainer", had spent an hour out there. That was the beginning of the end of our relationship. She HATED me for that. I could always catch her horses in a fraction of the time she could. They didn't fear me.

      Really sad to hear that it broke a relationship, rather than her actually standing up and learning from your calmness. This calm and fearless, yet respectful attitude is something that men somehow have a lot more of compared to women and its just a fact and something I would love to have more of too. I often catch myself thinking and worrying too much about what lays ahead, what could get in the way, rather than focussing on the now and just plain direction. Sometimes we women should just get a tape to shut our thoughts up and just do :D (reminds me of that hoof trimming video with the overly talking horsewoman)

  • @axellemineur94
    @axellemineur94 Před 6 lety +26

    I think your videos are interesting, but, in this case, I have to dissagree with the background you paint around this video. I watched the whole documentary (about 1 hour) and the horse isn't the woman's horse. It's actually one of Frédéric Pignon (the man) 's horses, still in training. And he actually chose that horse in particular, because he's young and "fresh", and he wanted to show her the difference between excessive movement, interpreted as play, and controlled calm movements. Later in the documentary, he makes her work with a "mature", well-trained horse, with which she can try more exercises. It's actually a pretty well-made documentary, about liberty work, with one interviewer who gets to work with Frédéric Pignon (here) and Jean-François Pignon (his brother), and their respective horses.
    Anyway, thanks for the interesting videos!
    Cheers

    My Arabian plays when I take him out- he tosses his head and prances sideways and will even rear and walk beside me. Is he being mean or disrespectful? NO! He is having fun, enjoying himself. I have people say all the time "Is that really an Arabian? He isn't spooky." Of course not, because I'm not flapping around at the end of the lead rope. I let him in my space so he knows how to behave instead of always chasing him to " a respectful distance". All I have to do to have him back away is hold a hand toward his chest and he moves. If you're body language is always shouting at your horse, that's how he's going to respond back.

    I think a little bit of context is needed here! This guy is a famous horse trainer in France (jean François Pignon), he does shows with multiple free horses at the same time and I like it because it's not perfect : the poneys are not shaved, sometimes a horse is not following very well and they really look like they are expressing their mood during the show. I'm no expert but even if this is a show and a lot of training they don't look sad to me. This video is actually a documentary about the training skills of the guy, the horse is his horse, the girl is the reporter and she doesn't know anything about horses. He just wants to show how a non experienced in body language human reacts to a horse, so yeah, she looks dumb as F****. If you watch the rest of the docu, you can see him teaching her how to pull and invite the horse to play and she succeed!

    His name is Frederick Pignon pronounced "Fredereek Pin Yon (with the N barely pronounced.)" He raises his horses and lives in France with many acres of land and he is the best there is (in my opinion.) He was a big part of the start of the very famous horse show called "Cavalia Odysseo." Norman LaTourell was the founder of Cirque de Soliel and with Frederick P. started combining circus acts with more horses than people. I'll be seeing it again for the 5th time in Montreal . Even if you don't like horses, you will leave the show respecting them and amazed about all that is involved in making this show. His brother is the one who "jumps on horses on the beach" (as you put it.) I enjoy watching your videos BTW. ;-) Frederick P. shows are all stallions and his brother raises and shows his mares. Google Cavalia Odysseo and enjoy watching all about it. I'm obviously a fan.

    Thank you so much for talking about the barn witches who use fear to intimidate a lot of new horse owners. I am presently having that issue and the barn owner is a real cowboy and says he will kick, punch & bite a horse to reprimand them. God help anyone who hurts my horse! The people in the horse world are very disappointing. Thankful for people like you who are honest and care more for horses than your ego.

      Yep thats true! My mom had her mare boarded at a barn back years ago. She stopped on her way home from work to feed her one day and found her soaking wet with sweat and foam. She found out the barn owner and a friend of his ran the piss out of her horse without permission. That was the last time thode guys ever touched my mamas horse lol. She bought a farm and moved her horses home a few months later😀

      Donut Shop Wow! What jerks. That is ultimately what I’m working towards. I resent paying someone for board and they dictate every single move I make. An ex..I brought a hunk of salt on a rope (made for horses) and this guy made me remove it! He said it was a Himalayan salt rock and he doesn’t allow them-“the horses aren’t Himalayan and a couple horses died from it”. Showed him the tag and ingredients (salt) but he was not convinced. The ignorance runs deep. Good for your mom! I hope to do the same.

    Watch the whole thing. This is awesome. The woman, she grows into it and has a bit of a break through. She is a reporter interviewing him. She makes mistakes that a lot of us would do if learning to work a stallion at liberty. She is doing this on camera. She learns and I learned with her. No halters on his horses when turned out and heck, he pasture breeds his horses . His stallions are well behaved . I'm moving to France. Lol

    Interesting comment there Rick on "barn witches" I had a "barn witch" so say offer to help me once, she was abusive to me and with my poor horse, she said he was too much horse for me, I should sell him, she said she would help me teach him some manners, to get him ready to sell. She broke a whip on him out riding, she twitched him to pull his mane and tail, she punched him in the head between the eyes, she hit his private parts when he was relaxing saying it was rude to let it dangle in human company, she got the lunge rope stuck under his tail and pulled it so hard when she was lungeing him because he was trying to dislodge it by bucking, that she took a whole layer of sensitive skin off it, she put a twisted snaffle in his mouth to ride, when she was schooling him and he raised his head slightly, she pulled so hard on that bit he nearly went over backwards with the pain, then one day he dumped her, he spooked, span round and they both hit the floor he rolled on her to get up :-D and broke her ribs and punctured her lungs, needless to say, I found the courage to send her a text thanking her and saying I had decided to keep him and not sell him, that was 10 years ago! Now this woman so say helps many people, bully their horses, she's also a dressage judge, but most of all she's a bully. I found a wonderful natural horsemanship trainer, he helped me understand the horse, think like a horse, now we have the most soft and gentle relationship, he rides like a dream, if I hadn't of done that Rick he would have had a bullet to the head 10 years ago, labelled as a bad horse, its never the horse, it's always the human. Horses feedback and they never lie! Keep up your good work and educating dumb people :-D

      @marianalmgren4348 Před 7 lety

      I'm so glad you found a better trainer. Horses have fears and hang-ups, yes, but so often the trouble is actually the humans who have mis-handled the horses. So often we come along afterward and make those hang-ups worse by mistreating the horses instead of trying to understand and work WITH them. I'm so glad you got ride of the bully and that you and your horse were able to work TOGETHER and learn to trust each other for the bettering of your relationship.

      I'm sorry I see this differently. The first moment she did something bad to that horse it should have ended there. I'm glad it turned out well in the end but it was a train wreck you allowed to continue. Then you text her a message saying your keeping the horse. Not that she's horrible an abusive. You have to take responsibility for your horse and keep them safe. I would have snatched her off, given her an earful and told her never touch my horse again. I hope you learned from this.

    Hey there I heard you say that you don't know this man I'm Gonna answer you. His name is Frederic Pignon. The bond he has, and or creates with his horses (or any horse for that matter) is beautiful. I also thorougly enjoy your videoes. Both kinds, the once where you react to others and the once where you play around and show your horses. Good on you and as for all the talking I agree keep doing that. One is never too old to learn and or be better at communicating with horses. As a child I watched in horror how some 'humans' would treat "problem horses" when really it was the humans who were the problem. I hope you and your family (two legged and four legged members) are all doing well. Greetings from Denmark ^^

    thank you so much for sharing this clip and you opinion. My girl is Anglo Arab and this behavior is very normal for her. Since working with her before I took her on as my own I have always enjoyed her playfulness and excitement we quite enjoy our time playing and running around. She is never locked in a stable as she doesn't like it she has one off her main Paddock witch she can use as she pleases. I have always been slightly down hearted with all the show crazy horse people labeling my girl as crazy unpredictable aggressive naughty and saying she has no ground manners just because we enjoy playing and having fun together. This brought tears to my eye realizing she really does enjoy it and I am reading her correctly. She has only ever hurt me by accident my fault one time and she came straight over to see what happened. I'm over the moon my girl loves playing and having fun with me it's true and I'm not silly because I'm not scared of her. 😊 Thanks for restoring my faith in understanding and enjoying my girl.

    I don't get why people can't understand animals. For humans It's said that vast majority of our communication is body language, why anyone thinks it's different for animals is beyond me. 99% of the time if an animals looks like it's being aggressive, it is. If an animal looks like it's being playful, it is. Sure, we are all different animals so sometimes there are things lost in translation, but body language is universal.
