Brings back memories. I surveyed a lot of pastures as an archaeologist. I encountered quite a few horses(which meant very thorough backfilling of my shovel test pits). Anyway, I was often sitting on the ground which made the horses very curious. I often did pull up some grass for them, especially from the other side of the fence to feed them. I often found 4 leaf clovers because I was always looking at the ground for any artifacts so I looked for 4 leaf clovers at the same time. I never was afraid of horses even though there was one that kept running around me. I always figured that they were playing. I guess I’d talk to them too. I recall another on the other side of a fence watching me that got curious enough to jump over and see me. My crew chief was perturbed by that but the horse just came over and said hi. Sometimes the horses would just avoid us though mostly they were curious. The best one walked up to me and put his head over my shoulder so that I had no choice but to give him a hug. I don’t have horses nor have I ridden much, I just like animals in general. Even the weird feral pigs.

Rick, if possible, I’d love to see a video of what kind of horse products you specifically like/trust/use. Like feeds for winter and first aid stuff or just useful products in general. I get really sick of seeing people use just whatever they can find that’s cheap and easy on their horses (cough becky’s homestead walmart hoof care cough) and I care about what’s best for my animals. What’s your opinion?

There was a poor horse who broke his neck in a rodeo which was sent to another youtuber to watch. It was so bloody sad to watch but so were the other videos on the clip to. I would have got my son to send it to you're channel to watch but I sent you a funny one of a beautiful horse pretending to act dead but I don't believe that you ever did watch it so I don't like to bother you with other videos, plus I have to get my son to send it cause I am stupid with computers. Lol.😂 You are still one of my favourites, love to the boys and mokey. 😘👍👌🍀

I wish I had taken video of a neighbor I once had playing a chase game with her miniature horse. This game went on for about 5 minutes, and involved a gardening glove that the horse snatched off the lady's potting bench. It was hilarious, better than TV (real life usually is), and both the lady and her pet seemed to be having fun. I got lucky in catching the action from the beginning when the horse grabbed the glove. If I had taken such a video, I would send it to you to get your analysis on what was going on. Do you have any videos of people-horse play interactions?

Can't wait til you put something on the dog channel! I know about dogs as well! Growing up, dogs and hyenas are my favorite animal, and I just spent my life and childhood researching the internet about different breeds, species, body language, and how to care for domestic dogs. I learned hyenas aren't dogs, but I still love them. Now hyenas are my favorite animal followed by canines and other animals. I actually love ALL animals, but I don't have a full list of favorites yet.

I think my house cat would be more aggressive. To my uneducated brain, it's pray animals watching a possible threat. Maybe even a person they know. To me it just looks staged.

I've grown up around horses and cows and I always think it's fascinating how people literally think they are being chased, when all the cow does is take a look at them.
I've seen hikers jump the fence because a cow was *walking* behind them. Not running, WALKING.
We have so many accidents with tourists here because they simply don't understand that you *don't walk to a little calf and try to pet it!* Mama is gonna come for you and cows can be fast if they want to. Single cows (without calves) are just so chill. :'D

This is funny. The same reactions can easily be brought out in cattle. Furtive, spastic movement, predatory stare, moving to fast, circling and going directly at the animals raise red flags. I think you are on the money. Walk out slowly and quetly into a field of yearling calves, stand still for ten minutes or so, then walk away quickly in a straight line. You will probably have the whole group following, with some running up and blowing snot on your hip pocket.

The horse wasn’t even showing any signs of aggression or pushiness xD this is killing me. They all look happy and are just checking this crazy guy out! Great example of pressure and release (except with a human and not worth a horse!)
