Picking Hooves with Gandolf: Relaxation and Duration

Hoof lifting, duration of being able to hold the hoof in your hand and relaxing down into your hand are all crucial for sound hoof care and happy farriers.
In this video, you'll see exactly the process we used to teach this horse to allow me to hold his hoof with duration and also to get him to relax and drop the hoof, trusting me to hold it for him.
NOTE: from the time this horse arrived, he could not safely pick up his feet for a human without being on drugs prior to clicker training and positive reinforcement. We have been doing his farrier training at liberty and are transitioning to tied as he also didn't tie well.
