Got a bit eggcited in the video and called the grapefuit a melon once or twice, was getting confused with a honeydew one that I actually quite like having often, but, mayyyybe i'll try some more grapefruit after this! "Your favorite thin bread" means thinly sliced bread, as opposed to a thick Texas toast style bread
So for the egg slicer you can do mushrooms and strawberries in there
get another egg coddler in black and you could use them as urns when Boston and Amy pass on.
Crimpit looks nice! Wonder if it fits most American bread sizes
@@amandaribofpalmetto iuu what iwhat i im in i in iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Use the Crimpit to seal a couple pieces of pastry dough around some pie filling. Amazing quick little dessert ideas for company!
My favorite MTV series, crimp my pie
My Dad has one of those and he uses it with phyllo dough and fruit fillings to make his own giant popovers.
You missed an opportunity to say baye ay ya aya!
Gota love how we all see a little of Barry in us all, when he trys somthing new and panics, or when he's just enjoying trying new things, Barry your our spirit animal ,keep up the good work,
Really like this comment, I hope I perhaps show more than others that nobodies perfect and that's ok lol
@@mrbarrylewis you do alot more than that you show us we will mess-up, and thats the fun part learning
15:43 "...taking the pith...(LONG PAUSE)...away" One of Barry's funniest moments.
Welcome to "old gadgets re-discovered". My grandfather had egg coddlers and a grapefruit knife a large ravioli press and a faucet airator (to reduce chlorine in the water) when I was small, my parents had them, and I bought my own grapefruit knife and coddlers when I moved out. They were unusual enough that I remember that most of my friends didnt know what they were when I was a kid, but they were standard for us. My Grandfather was born in 1901.
Everything that's old is new again. There are only so many wheels that can be invented, but I find it really interesting to see the new marketing for them.
Of course there is always going to be things that are not known to younger generations, or people from places where certain gadgets are more or less common depending on the items. But the fun part of these videos is that they also show quality and function. He's not saying they are all brand new innovations.
My mom had an egg slicer for as long as I can remember. A great and simple breakfast idea I had all the time growing up was sliced egg on toast. Hardboiled egg sliced, toast with mayo spread, and ketchup, salt and pepper on top.
Same 👍
me too i also have a mushroom one
I have that for breakfast every morning, minus the ketchup. It's delicious!
Yup 🤭
They were already old news when my mother bought one about 50 years ago.
Movie theaters charge a massive markup on popcorn and other concessions since they make a very small portion of the ticket price.
EDIT: My favorite popcorn popper is a silicone bowl with a very loose fitting silicone cover that rises with the kernels as they pop.
We had grapefruit knives like that in the mid-1950's; sprinkle with sugar and serve with a maraschino cherry in the centre hole.
Coddled eggs were my grandma's fav; she put an egg in a pan in the sink, then covered it with boiling water. When the water was cool enough to handle the egg, it was done. She would make the rest of breakfast while it cooked.
P.S. I'm 71.
Salt also works well on grapefruit to counteract the sourness.
The description for the grapefruit knife was the most British Antiques Roadshow I've ever seen.
Most movie theaters make their money off of concessions. The sheer amount of money that they have to send to the corporations who are exhibiting the movie is insane.
Coddled eggs are actually very common, as 90% of the so called egg "poachers" u see are actually making a coddled egg. Poached egg done properly should be held together in the water where as a coddled egg is held in a cup. Making and egg poaching pan with 4 cups over boiling water like you see in a lot of shops actually "coddled" and not poached.
We call them egg cocotte in France. Super simple and everyone knows them.
I can never get enough of your dad jokes and puns Barry!🤣 I hope your family is doing well☺️
I have those popcorn makers, and the lids always pop up at the wrong moment. I just use an elastic band on it 🤣
I have used a grapefruit curved knife since I was like 10 years old. It was spiky on both edges and curved like yours.
As was always have one every morning for breakfast. Yummy with sugar on the top the night before in the fridge for the morning.
The egg slicer I have used with beetroot and salad potatoes.
My grilled cheese hack is to microwave the sandwich to melt the cheese and then brown it in the pan. I bet that would work with that crimp it thing. I bet it would be great for stuffed French toast.
OMG I just started watching older videos in the playlist yesterday and I got to the episode where he first uses the Elvis egg gadget. Good to see he's still loyal 60 odd episodes later.
The popcorn popper can easily be replaced with paper lunch bags. Less mess too..
I just cover a glass bowl with a silicone lid
Trying random things in the egg slicer sounds like my childhood.
Here's Barry, he's taking the pith again. 🤪 love these vids
I've had a swiveling tap my whole life thanks to my mum, she had one when I was a kid and I got one because of that when I moved into my own place, the kind we have always had are fully metal and actually replacements for the tap because (not sure how many places have this) our faucets have always had a removable head for the sake of replacing it with other types (not the whole faucet of course, just a small bit right at the tip) the kind we got also had the ability to switch between the shower style multiple holes and the single stream (and we lose no water pressure and on some sinks even increase the presure)
Kitchen sinks over here (US) quite commonly have a hose with a spray nozzle that you can direct anywhere. They generally have decent pressure, unless your hard water precipitates out and crusts over the holes in the spray head.
The tap converter would be a great baby shower gift because it lessens the water pressure and you can move the nozzle around perfect.
I just discovered your channel and I love it.
I'm watching you from Superior Wisconsin USA 😁
Barry using bread with perforations... "Why is the ketchup leaking out?"
Never change Barry.. :)
Those toasterbags from before would work wonders with the crimpit :-)
Only discovered your channel recently. Loving it. Just wanted to say we have an egg coddler that looks very similar to yours in this vid, but with pretty flowers on it. It belonged to my late mother in law, workes really well and is circa late 1960's 😉 You do need to adjust times depending on egg size, but my beloved adores it, other than he would eat 4 or 5 coddled eggs at a time if i had more coddlers! 🤣
I’m 71 and grew up in the States. We had a a grapefruit knife and spoons that were serrated so you could cut the grapefruit out with your spoon.
Still love your Elvis egg timer and loving Pat x
It's a good one! One of the old school gadgets that just lasts, one day the battery will go i'm sure lol
Boston is the best I love his stuck out tongue. Too cute 😍
I LOVED Sing 2. It really took what was good about the first movie and kicked it up to a whole new level. I can't wait for it to come out to own.
Barry, seeing your face in these rough times is making my day. Thank you for this. 🙌
Barry: *Eats cold cheese*
Me: "WHO ARE YOU AND WHERE IS THE REAL BARRY?!"
I love my egg slicer, its great for mushrooms
Reeeeeealllllly wish I had mushrooms now lol
@@mrbarrylewis Avocado too!
19:57 'The Crimp-eye is actually not too bad'.
I almost fell off my chair laughing 😅
Meh. I'll stick with brown paper lunch bags for my microwave popcorn popping needs.
Used it a couple more times and it is ok, but the popcorn still flies out lol
Egg slicers are great for slicing strawberries and mushrooms, too!
Also pitted olives. I don’t think I’ve ever used the egg slicer for actual eggs. 🤣
Barry, please make a series of you and Mrs.Barry making food without a recipe and the girls judging who made it better! :)
Paper lunch bags are the best for popping corn.
Love this video! Great job as always!!
Barry makes my Mondays happy!!
The toaster and the popcorn thing, rightfully made me nervous. Glad to see you got a 2-0 on the win/loss there for this episode.
Love the Vids Barry, part of our evening routine now 👍
I feel a Barry/Ashens video coming up: "Will It Crimpit?"
Those crimpies would great with pizza fillings.
Just a thought. The egg coddler would empty easier if oiled before you put in the eggs. My egg poacher (coddler) has cups that have to be oiled first. Love the channel. So thankful you are all getting healthy again.
Barry, you were asking why you would have to have thin bread and not use sandwich thins, I believe that it is because the thins come with small perforated holes in the face and if you put a sauce in, it could be squeezed through the holes potentially making a mess on everything it touches. Also with the slicer it can be used to cut mushrooms or sprouts ( when precooked) , pre skinned tomatoes and even hot dogs to top a pizza.
Love your kack handed accident prone presentations!
Looking forward to the next.
So glad to see this video, have missed them
Popping corn in the car? I remember a comedy show once featured a more practical airbag. When you get into an accident, it'll trigger popcorn to pop to cushion your impact. You then can peacefully eat popcorn while awaiting emergency help.
About the egg slicer... you can use it to cut mushrooms quick and easy..
Entertaining as always! A loyal viewer from Canada here! I have grapefruit knives and spoons, which are at least 60 years old!
I loved the crimpit & thanks Barry 🤗
that "crimpit" thing is basically just a sando de panda, which is primarily known for giving birth to the greatest youtube video of all time
but with a fun wavy edge
You know those kitchen towels that are like "Let That Shiitake Go" or "For Fork's Sake"? I need Barry to make one that says "You're taking the pith outta me" or something like that 😂
Straight away there's a cow in the background. Love that 😂
I love the crumpet! Eggcellent!
I have a popcorn kitchen hack for you Barry! Put 1/4 cup popcorn kernels, 1-2 tsp oil in a normal paper lunch bag and shake it up. Microwave it for around 2 minutes or until it stops popping. This is how I've been making popcorn for years!
Yay! I love kitchen gadget videos!
Enjoyed watching this video 👍
The cremp pie reminds me of an uncrustable peanut butter and jelly sandwich! One of the favorite snacks to have from the freezer on a hot summer day!
I have that same popcorn maker and I love it.
I love that the cover is also used to measure the kernels and as a butter melter.
Mine has been rebranded by Tasty.
Small brown paper bag quarter filled with popcorn does the same if not better job
Your delight at the citrus segmenter was thoroughly enjoyable 😁
My mother always used the egg slicer to cut up potatoes for potato salad. Works great for that.
5£ for a Boston sizy popcorn sounds almost cheap 😅😂 *I live in Norway
And I almost do not think of the egg slicer as a gadget. I am 31 years old, and we have always had one at home. As well as one that will cut the egg into 6 «boats». For me they are a standard must have in the kitchen 😄
We don't have a graprefruit knife anymore but we do have grapefruit spoons, like a teaspoon but more elongated and with a serrated portion at the tip. Very handy.
I have one of your favorite popcorn poppers (the glass one) I ❤️ it a lot.
I wish that I could get the crimpit in the states! I can imagine all the mayhem that my grandkids could create with that.
I love your videos! I may have gotten tangled up in a Barrython a few nights. (Sleep is overrated). Thank you, Barry & your lovely family
There are similar things available on amazon, as well as resellers of the actual product (or at least, they claim to be, but results may vary).
That is one of the most effective designs i have seen though.
i think its time to have a microwave popcorn gadget off, there are so many of them now...
My mum had one of those grapefruit knives from the 40's :-)
The best popcorn popper I have ever had is a Whirley Pop maker for the stovetop.
You could use a rolling pin on ur normal bread to make it thin....then it works well 👍
Keep getting adverts for the Crimpit, have been quite tempted. I'm glad there is now an independent adjudicator to help my decision 🤣
the egg poacher looks like something my nana used to have in her bathroom with cotton wool pads in it
a hack for poached eggs is to use an electric egg cooker and silicon cupcake moulds. crack the egg into the cupcake mould adjust the water based on how you like your eggs cooked and wait till theyre done. I sometimes put herbs or furikake on mine before i cook them.
Nice job! Cool gadgets Barry... Miss the family videos with the girls and Mrs. B of course love you too! But it's always so much fun when you have Mrs. B and the girls, that still came out sounding wonky but you know what I mean !😂😉🥂
I grew up with the egg slicer and grapefruit knife a long time ago. It’s amusing how they market these things as “new”. Both of these items work really well.
great Kitchen Gadget Testing vid as always Barry :D
My mom used to collect egg coddlers from various antique shops as a kid
Hey Barry, the one that goes on the tap could be good for washing fruit and vegetables, great video, loved the last gadget 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘🦘🦘🦘Cheers from Melbourne Australia
I need that grapefruit thingy! That’s amazing
You can buy antique egg coddlers! They’re fairly collectible and some are pretty fancy.
Those balls are actually mineral balls that prevent clogging or limescale and rust etc.
Not for the pressure of the water.
Great video. I've brought few gadgets you have tested and there great x
Good to have you back. Must admit I prefer the vids when the familam are involved. But still enjoy your lonely ones.
Love our wrap crimpit
You should have go out the toasty bags so you could put it in the toaster and it would show you how much would have leaked!
What makes movie popcorn SO good is a seasoning called "flavacol" you can buy it online
😂😂 Boston looks, how I feel on a Monday morning
That crimpet looks awesome it's like a little toastie maker
My mother loves coddled eggs. They are more jammy than a poached IMO. She puts a little vinegar on hers and chives.
In continental Europe we have croque-monsieur or panini makers and that crimped sandwich would cook perfectly in one of those.
We need to get you to 1 million subscribers! You've been so close for to long!!
Elvis made me chuckle.
Egg slicer works well for slicing hulled strawberries
And mushrooms
I’ve been subbed for so long and for some reason your videos stopped showing up in my recommended. Anyways glad to be back!
Hi Barry! I read somewhere that there will always be some unpopped kernels when you make popcorn. I highly recommend the Pampered Chef popcorn maker, it’s like your glass one but all silicone and has a lid/cover so no popping open in the microwave.
Only Barry would describe egg coddler noises as indigestion 😂
LMAO !!! 😂🤣😂 You are such a loveable dag... 👏👏👏👍😚
Oh yay! A new video! All the ones on fb are years old!
Great Video Cool gadgets keep up the great work
Takin' the pith outta grapefruits...that will show em!
