Yep, I remember this. The Admiral had just come off a real bad back injury the previous season (the Spurs then promptly lost around 60 games, which allowed them to get '97's #1 pick; guess who!). And where did Rodman just happen to nail Robinson on this play? In his recently healed back.
You mean athletes who develop? Are you mad that they are much better now and unlike the 90s have made the game revolve around basketball and not dirty cheap moves?
@@dominus6224 No one is claiming they are better now. Defense is lower both in what the players are allowed to do and what they are capable of doing. There was intensity and rivalry..not high fiving the opponents...you wanted to beat them not join them. Now todays players are better conditioned in ways and also have better range.... so there is a tradeoff.
@@whatareyoulookingat908 No one is claiming they are better now? Sorry buddy, but some basic research and some common sense would suggest and also point out that athletes develop over time and become better.
Rodman still salty about being traded away from SA for Perdue lol. But for real, Rodman was emotionally unstable, he probably wanted to bodycheck Spurs GM Popovich but had to settle for DRob.
In every sport to admire someone I need to see he is a good athlete first. That's why I am a David Robinson fan ,the guy was incredible, you can't find something negative. Bulls on the other hand... capable but not to admire
Swagacious no shit dumbass..but did Rodman win them "Alone"?..stupid fuck..my point is RODMAN WOULDN'T HAVE WON SHIT WITHOUT HELP whether it be playing with Jordan or Isiah Thomas (fucking idiot)
Robinson had Sean Elliot as the #2 player (a 2-time All-Star and a reserve both times) on his team up until Duncan... Robinson's teams without a #2 star were better than Michael Jordan's pre-Pippen days... matter of fact, when Robinson finally got Rodman, a solid ROLE PLAYER to help out, his teams had the best record in the league... Rodman was a headcase wearing dresses and MISSING PLAYOFF GAMES.... the dude fucking SKIPPED A PLAYOFF GAME because he was partying so much. That's what Robinson was dealing with. He got schooled in the playoffs by Hakeem one year after routinely out-performing him head-to-head throughout their careers, and his reputation as a soft playoff player stuck. Then he gets Duncan after his back injury, and even despite not being quite the player he was in his prime, still being better than Duncan at the time but deferring to him... and what do they do? Win two championships together, and if it weren't for the Shaq-Kobe 3-peat right in the middle of that (aka arguably the strongest dynasty the NBA has seen since the fucking 60s Celtics), then maybe the Spurs could've had like 5 in a row. Give Robinson Scotty Pippen and they're a 62+win team every year in the 90s, and probably would've gotten about 5 championships. The fuck outta with that garbage.
Flop? his body jerked back exactly as the hit had it. Robinson had a bad back injury the year before, that he never fully recovered from for the rest of his career. Robinson had just come back that season and Rodman intentionally hit that spot that was injured.
Yeah ... if Worm would do this in Pistons times, he would be blamed and hated .. but in Bulls with MJ and migraine guy Pippen: 'oh, Dennis was poor lost kid in muscular strong body
That's travelling by David. He moved his pivot foot (the left one) before dribble and took advantage because of it. Can be clearly seen on replay at 1:12 - 1:14 David fakes with right foot thus establishing left foot as pivot, the moves the left one before drible.
@Mark Grace I get your point, but I´m almost sure that the ball has to left player´s hand(s) before lifting the pivot. You can't distinguish dribble from fake move before the ball leaving player's hands. And that's under NBA rules, not to mention FIBA's. Otherwise, the ball handler is getting I would say unfair advantage over the defender.
Yo you know how great David was. I didn't know the bulls were such pu*****. Yo Mike feared David. Just like Lebron fears Kawhi. This league has been controlled for a long time. Don't get me wrong Jordan is The Goat but just how they say about Lebron ohh he's the Goat sorry no it's Jordan but David was Jordan's nightmare just how Kawhi is Lebrons. It's a shame how this League works. They don't care about hurting players and ruining they're careers. Just for Lebron or Jordan.
Lol of all the players in nba history, Robinson is the least had it coming. The guy was a nice, calm, veteran, Christian guy. Who i think was even an assistant Pastor.
Its a total misconception. Being a finesse big man doesn't make you soft, it makes you skilled. He was skilled, and not wide enough to be a guy who runs people over.
83-82 in the 2nd overtime. Those were the good ol years of nba
Well you've got 2 defensive monsters, what do you expect

97 first pick and still play in his final season tim duncan
That's right, except that Duncan retired after last season.
Rodman always did his homework...
Flunking for Dunkin. Popovich is a disgrace
Frank Stallone was the #1 pick in 1997?
You could hear avery ask dave. You ight.
It’s more the ankle than the back I think. Rodman steppes underneath as Robinson was in the air, same way Zaza did to Kawhi Leonard. Really nasty foul
I can't believe no one is commenting on Longley's "defence" on Robinson...
danchinho lmao we don't have to. That dude was garbage.
He did well against Greg Ostertag in the 97' & 98' Finals.
Rabinson didnt even lame down
No he wasn't. Luuuuuuuuuuuc!
What does it mean to "lame down"? I'm from Armenia.
Dennis the fucking menace
How could any body hate David Robinson?
Cause he's an uncle tom, lmao. But he was aight.
He quit on his team several times throughout his career in the playoffs, only to get bailed out by a number one draft pick.
David Robinson always looked like a gentle giant to me..
I was a bulls fan back then but that was dirty.
haha.Longley couldn't play d or crash the boards but he could hold Rodman back.
heynow888 lol love it
he was sabonis minus the all star.
fpsfreak
what do you mean? lol
what's your username referring to?
Great defense Luc
True nba back then , not the gay 3 point contest the games have become

Just two years prior to this Rodman and Robinson were teammates
You can see on the last angle Robinson comes down to an elbow in the lower back. MJ gives Rodman a WTF were up 4 double OT.
How about that missed 3
Back when teams scored around 80 pts even in overtime.
Yep, defense-oriented era.

0:20 Robinson dunks the basketball 🏀
Rodman elbows Robinson from behind
Unnecessary shove!!

yep
You could also make a compilation of Longley and Wennington getting owned by pretty much every center in the league.
yes they both sucked
Longley and Wennington both got 3 championships with the Bulls. 👀
If he did that to lebron
Lebron would be on a wheelchair
Just like your dad 😂😂😂😂
That's Dennis' unresolved resentment of Robinson being "soft" when they played together in San Antonio.
Robinson wouldn't have won without Duncan
Wu Liwei And Rodman wouldn't have won without Jordan.. what's your point?

SidJustice1 do you think David Robinson look like grace Jones?
That's how TJ Ford lost his career. Gotta stop hitting people in the spine
Who?? Was that the clown with the big red shoes??
Oh boy....at 0.34 I'd swear the Admiral stuffed coconuts under his skin
1. Robinson smoked Longley.
2. That was a cheap shot by Rodman.
3. Big flop by David.
4. David is a beast.
@Mark Grace He also has some major delts.
Flop? his body jerked back exactly as the hit had it. Robinson had a bad back injury the year before, that he never fully recovered from for the rest of his career. Robinson had just come back that season and Rodman intentionally hit that spot that was injured.
That was an unnecessary cheap shot on Robinson. I both Loved and Hated Rodman cause of acts like these.
the 1st flop that lebron using hahah giggity
Rammit emma asol
I don't know why Rodman is talking crap to the referee. He deliberately committed a foul.
I guess he didn't like David as a teammate.
sakuragi vs akagi
If Steph Curry WOULD HAVE CAME IN THE LANE HE DO THAT NO MORE HE WOULD GOTTEN LAID DOWN IN THAT PAINT zzz OUT HE WOULD THINK THE next Time
Would have came? Perhaps you should take a grammar class.
Man i really hope we see more rodmans in the league soon its too soft now
Yeah ... if Worm would do this in Pistons times, he would be blamed and hated .. but in Bulls with MJ and migraine guy Pippen: 'oh, Dennis was poor lost kid in muscular strong body
lebron james got luck .dennis rodman its no around ..😫
cjavier gutierrez hahaha for real cuz is a lil bitch
Very credible source? Dennis. Hah!

...not traveling the ball was not on his hands it was in mid dribble so he could move any foot...

typical dirty rodman, tries to cover the dirt up, got away with it too much.
🤦♂️ so totally unnecessary…
Mj missed haha
No vengas a topear aqui Martin perez Disalvo
Jajaja baby cry Robinson
Rodman is such a dirty player,
TOTALLY FLOP
Robinson had it coming
Lol of all the players in nba history, Robinson is the least had it coming. The guy was a nice, calm, veteran, Christian guy. Who i think was even an assistant Pastor.
@Mark Grace Robinson is soft and Dennis knew it. Wish he would of leveled popovich too. Communist hack
rodman was a pathetic bully .........
That wasn't even a hard foul. Robinson was soft.
Martin Warford it was the way he landed, not the amount of contact.
Martin Warford this was a game after he healed from a back injury, robinson was not soft
Bro. That's how TJ Fords career ended. Gotta stay away from people's spines. Not cool.
Hitting anyone in a vulnerable position like that is dirty, period.
Love to see how your soft, sorry ass would handle a cheap shot like that. You'd be laid up for months.
Admiral has been overestimated, he has always been very soft.
WRONG

@@ddave7026 He got pissed on by Hakeem, Chuck, and The Mailman in the playoffs. Fact
