Rudy T was a great coach, the Spurs probably felt they were doing the right thing having Robinson playing Dream 1 on 1 so the Rockets shooters wouldn't be open often. The reason it ended up backfiring was Dream was hitting a lot of those shots and the Rockets rotated with the ball so well it was difficult to defend them even when the Spurs tried not to double team.
We have too many uninformed people (who've been influenced by the goofballs who cover sports now) commenting on this video!! Dennis Rodman's ridiculous antics RUINED the Spurs chances to win the title, that's why the announcers were bashing him in this game and why he got traded to the Bulls for pennies on the dollar after this season. Despite the high level of play in San Antonio, Rodman clearly prioritized seeking fame and attention for himself (openly disrespecting coaches and teammates, committing flagrant fouls, skipping practice, showing up late for games, etc.) over basketball. If it weren't for Jordan and the Bulls, Dennis Rodman may have been out of the NBA for good in 1995-1996 because he had adopted the "All Publicity Is Good Publicity' mindset from shallow musicians and entertainers like Madonna and Carmen Electra, and NBA teams weren't going to put up with it. That nonsense works in other forms of entertainment, where a marginal talent can become famous and rich with smoke and mirrors/bells and whistles but Rodman didn't have to resort to that, his elite rebounding, defense and hustle should have spoke for itself!!
You'll notice from this series nobody on the Rockets fell for his "mindgames" like a lot of other players did. He tried to trip Hakeem this game too. They were solely focused on closing out this series. And he wasn't even bothering to guard Horry who killed SA from 3 because he was so focused on getting rebounds And then he had the audacity to trash the Spurs in his biography as not putting in the effort/desire to win like he supposedly had. You also didn't add he missed a huge chunk of time in SA recovering from a motorcycle accident. When alpha leaders Isiah and Michael weren't there to see he toed the line he was a malcontent. I was going for Houston, but I didn't realize how bad it was for Robinson and i feel sorry for him in retrospect...he should've laid out Rodman with a uppercut!!

The only time Hakeem ever went one on one is because he could bring the ball out away from the basket. Any time he was near the basket he was getting swarmed as usual. He countered it by playing away from the basket at times.

The Rockets did do a pretty good job neutralizing him at times, even though he was still getting his rebounding numbers they were making work harder on defense than any other series I've seen him involved in. The reason it ended up backfiring was Dream was hitting a lot of those shots and the Rockets rotated with the ball so well it was difficult to defend them even when the Spurs tried not to double team.
David Robinson was so damn soft
Im so fucking tired of this commentator bashing dennis rodman
The bulls should have added hakeem as their center,Rodman jordan, pippen and kerr.........imagine to get prepared for that.....
Will Perdue for Rodman !!! FCK ! :(
We have too many uninformed people (who've been influenced by the goofballs who cover sports now) commenting on this video!!
And he wasn't even bothering to guard Horry who killed SA from 3 because he was so focused on getting rebounds
And then he had the audacity to
trash the Spurs in his biography as not putting in the effort/desire to win like he supposedly had.
I bet lebron won't win any championship if rodman was still playing! Rodman will crushed him into pieces and lebron will go home crying every time! 😂😂😂
Neither would any goat, he shut down shaq before
idiot
Osas Larry bird says hi
@@TrideepNagg lol that dirty bird, he was a cheat code.
And where's the hell is David Robinson?
Getting doubled and tripled teamed by rocket players that doubled off Avery Johnson and Rodman. On the other end Rodman had to stay with Horry at the 3 ball line and Avery couldn't leave players like Ellie/Cassell/Smith. In short The Dream got to play one on one while David has Doubled a lot.
The only time Hakeem ever went one on one is because he could bring the ball out away from the basket. Any time he was near the basket he was getting swarmed as usual. He countered it by playing away from the basket at times.
@@ballaclub9393 Dream was defending Robinson by himself in some of these highlights too.
@@ballaclub9393 finally someone who really watched the entire game instead of highlights and repeating the same biased story " the dream destroyed robinson"
@@ram10sin70 great players get double teamed. Olajuwon scored at will on the Spurs in this series even when doubled. On one play he scored vs 3 Spurs defenders without even looking at the basket to shoot.
Robinson on the other hand unfortunately never developed a back to the basket or real post up game which made it easier for defences to scheme against him in the playoffs than Hakeem.
Gtfoh with that Rodman stuff. Did they only show Rodman’s highlight’s on this. There are other video’s where he got torched in this series just like the whole Spur’s team.
Hakeem’s stat’s in the series. I’ll do Rodman’s next.
Game 1-27 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 blocks, 1 steal
Game 2- 41 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, 3 steals
Game 3- 43 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 blocks
Game 4- 20 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 blocks
Game 5- 42 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 blocks
Game 6- 39 points, 17 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, 5 blocks.
Leading scorer every game.
The Rockets did do a pretty good job neutralizing him at times, even though he was still getting his rebounding numbers they were making work harder on defense than any other series I've seen him involved in. He either was been drawn away from the basket a lot or when he was the primary defender inside he was getting in foul trouble fast matched up with a player that didn't rely on power like other interior players Rodman went up against like Shaq.
@@ChrisM07 foul trouble is correct. I believe the games the spurs won was when he wasn’t in foul trouble, but that’s what decided a lot of game’s back in the day. Especially with Shaq.
@@ChrisM07 Rodman averaged 6.7 and 15 for the series.
@@ChrisM07 Olajuwon had 35.3 pts, 12.5 rebounds, 5 assist’s, and 4.2 blks for the series
@@mockingslur6945 I believe the Spurs really won those 2 games because the Rockets weren't attacking the basket as much. The Rockets usually slashed inside a lot where they scored easily or got fouled.
The Spurs are idiots. They got rid of a monster player for Will Perdue cause he didn't fit their corny squeaky clean image. David Robinson even tried to convert Dennis to Christianity. What part of the game is that? I'm glad he went to the Bulls and helped them win 3 rings.
They had no choice but to get rid of his whiny malcontent ass, even if they got the short end of the stick in the trade.
He didnt want to be there anymore and the feeling was mutual.
Christianity. Lol
@@FuShengAlex punk ass Spurs
Turned out good for both teams. The Spurs were terrible the next two years and ended up with the 1st pick. They got some guy from Wake Forest and I heard he had a good career with the Spurs.
