Sorry guys, I wrote eastern finals to headline at first lol
Hakeem should be in the GOAT conversation
Exactly, 100 percent, one of the best centers of all time.
Most definitely. Hakeem better than kareem and lebron
@hectorlopez1069 facts..Hakeem better than shaq, Tim Duncan, LeBron and kareem
Hakeem is among top Players that ever played the game - he was so skilled and his play such a beauty to watch…
Best center of all time
Greatest center to ever play !! Jokic gives me doubts, but watching Hakeem live was as almost good as watching MJ live, and watching MJ was like watching God
Those Rockets and Suns series in 94 and 95 were incredible.
Barkley was outstanding, but Olajuwon was everything in those series.
There will never be another Hakeem 👍👍👍
Some of the best memories of my life. 44 years
Kenny: an instigator back then and now
Right lol
It's interesting how olajuwon outplayed every single one of the mvp candidates in front of him during the playoffs...i didn't know david robinson was that nice. I always knew he was a top center but i didn't know he was that talented....having robinson & rodman on the boards wasn't fair but personalities got in the way. Something about robinson was missing...he had all the muscles & talent but lacked the toughness & intangibles. Robinson deserved that award even tho i would've gave it to shaq. That shot of robinson at 8:38 is iconic even tho he lost...
Unfortunately Robinson didn't learn to develop a back to the basket game like some of the Centers ranked ahead of him historically.
He was athletic enough to blow by most big men when facing up. But if you took the drive away from him you could keep him on the perimeter shooting lower % jumpers and keeping him off the line. .
That's what Utah and Houston did to him in the mid 90s playoff meetings
Hakeem MVP stomp. He beat first place, second, third, sixth, eighth, and 10th on the list in the Playoffs.
He played just like Jordan in the playoffs.
@@hectorlopez1069even better. That's the GOAT individual playoff run
For centers, Hakeem had better footwork then Admiral.
For Centers Hakeem had better footwork than anyone. Players like LeBron and Kobe didn't pay him thousands of dollars for him to work out with them for no reason.
@@randycooper3428 I should've said the best of all time for Center.
It really was obvious Hakeem was the better player, but some fans had to see head-to-head clear evidence in order to detect it
Robinson was the better player in the regular season. Olajuwon was the better player in the playoffs
New standard set "An MVP never looked as helpless as Joel Embiid during game 7 against the Celtics in the ECSF"
Joel wasn’t outplayed, he just gave up lol.
@@Babycharlie23 LMAO the two J's of the Celtics pounded him rights and lefts 😅
@@Babycharlie23 lies.
Game 7 on a Sunday and Mother days in Boston.
Refs "don't worry commissioner we got this"
@@Babycharlie23
Nope. The Celtics get what they want without having to "work" for it.
Rudy Tomjanvoich changed the lineup in Game 5 by inserting Mario Elie at the 3 and moving Robert to the PF.
Vernon maxwell was gone after game 1 of the playoffs vs the jazz. Otis Thorpe was traded for Drexler. Carl Herrera was injured.
the most impressive #6 seed that I ever seen that successfully defended their NBA title in 1995 and not this #6 seed of this year who failed to beat the Lakers and was softened by the Kings😅
For some perspective:
Leading up to that series, Robinson in his first 9 playoff games in 95 averaged 26.3 points and 12.7 rebounds
It's not like Robinson played badly or was slumping going into this series.
Hakeem simply played THAT well these 6 games.
1995 NBA Western Conference Finals
Hakeem Olajuwon need to go to Jordan House and get his DPOY award!
Back then I couldn’t rewatch this series, but I watched the finals against Shaq. Shaq has always been my favorite player. But that finals I was stunned. I was so fascinated to see such artistry footwork. In my mind until that point was big man dominates like Shaq, bulldozing opponents, that’s what is fun to watch. I followed the dream afterwards and admired his footwork even with Shaq being my favorite. I loved it even more when Kobe picked up and improved upon dreams footwork.
I don’t think he ever said [“I’m going to his house to get my trophy.” Hakeem basically said all of this (him talking trash about David’s MVP) isn’t true. He said David had the better year and deserved it.
According to Kenny Smith, he said it.
@@Oldskoolbball Yes but according to Hakeem he didn’t say it! So who do you believe!?
Robinson and ewing were absolute beasts in the 90s. I am sick of them getting their legacies annihilated just because hakeem got the best of them!
Preach dog I'm a all time Robinson fan and love pat too my 2 favorite teams Knicks and pre Tim Duncan spurs!
@@teddybrukshot1801 anf many people forget knicks were up 3-3 in the finals in 94. Pat ewing was one game close to a ring !! People forget too fast!
@@marcstein2510 yeah you can thank John starks as far as I'm concerned that Nuka was a liability I was so happy when we got Houston and sprewell
Kenny Smith : "David (Robinson) mentioned everyone but Dream (previous MVP)"
This tells me an important lesson. Even if you have more good games than bad games, it is no guarantee that you'll be the MVP. Olajuwon's focus was winning games to get to the championships. I had no idea Olajuwon came in 5th place in MVP voting in 1995, that's disrespectful, even Giannis hasn't been disrespected that bad. My point is, Embiid's focus was on the MVP award. He got it, and he lost focus on the higher goal, the championship. To him, the MVP award was the championship, that's why the Sixers fell short against the Celtics.
The fact that Hakeem was 5th in MVP voting in 94-95 wasn't necessarily disrespectful at all.
It could also mean that the era was ridiculously stacked, especially amongst PFs/Centers. These weren't small fry guys he finished behind. They were all future HOFers in the prime of their careers themselves having fantastic seasons.
It wasn’t surprising since The Rockets were the 6th seed out West. You had D-Rob, Charles Barkley, Shaq, and Patrick Ewing all ahead of him due to how much better their regular season records were.
Correction! Malone. Not Barkley. Barkley finished 6th, which is crazy considering that Phoenix Suns team was 2nd in the West.
Sixth seed in western conference
Western conference finals* but I bet you made that title so people would click just to correct you😂😂
This is the series that established Olajuwon and the top center alltime. NEVER has a HOF center been made to look as foolish as Robinson was against Hakeem. And he did a job on Ewing the year prior in the finals.
Those old school ketchup and mustard Rockets jerseys were the best.
David had a better jump shot than all of the centers. He shot at a high clip.
I have never seen Robinson outshoot Hakeem! You must be thinking of other centers
@@stevesparks2001 stop speaking with your heart and use your brain. Who had a overall higher FG% on less shots? Who hit more three pointers for their career. Who had the higher FG% in 1995 when they played each other? Who has more range? Stop playing. Dream was all paint and baseline.
The end say it all…😂
Hakeem was drafted before Jordan in 1984… And people say that wasn’t a bad pick!!
That’s the thing with players like Hakeem and joker , they will talk that humble shxt all day to media about respect their peers , it’s all about winning sure but deep down they want to kill you on the court , it also gets personal for them. The killer mentality we praise Jordan and Kobe for we even termed it “Jordan /mamba mentality” these have it , it’s just they’re graceful with it , it’s very subtle. Hakeem lost mvp to david Robinson but played out of his mind got the championship, jokic lost mvp to Embiid but played out of his mind and won the championship
OMG LOL DO YOU SEE THOSE MOVES LOL YOU COULDN'T STOP THAT MAN WITH A GUN
The man is fenaminal
iN 1995 to beat Hakeem you could started Wilt Chamberlin, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird, Micheal Jordan, and John Stockton and YOU STILL WOULD HAVE LOST! David has nothing at all to be ashamed of ROCKETS fan who was so happy to see you get that ring David!
Hakeem is the best defender all time. Top 5 centers all time. 1. Bill russ 2. Hakeem 3. Wilt 4. Kareem 5. Shaq/jokic
Olajuwan straight ended the Admiral in 95. The Spurs covered for him by blaming Rodman, but DR never really recovered though.
if u are a better center than these super 7 centers who are almost all pretty much drafted #1 and #2's in Moses, Shaq, Ewing, Robinson, Parish, Alonzo, Mutombo etc
AND you are not a top 10 player of all time THEN, those doing the rankings have some serious basketball amnesia !! Tell that to the fake ESPN & YAHOO sports !!
Just show the highlights you didnt need to talk
Because the spurs were first in the west is why robinson got the MVP
Why the creepy music?
The idiocy of the MVP voting that year. Not only did Hakeem not win but was 5th with that stat line .
If david Robinson was more assertive and aggressive, he would've been a true force in nba history..he just didn't have the intestinal fortitude nor resolve
All those muscles and military background yet timid & lacking dominance..good #s but misleading without context
He has no ego and that's the difference. Robinson is an elite player in the 90's and one of the best big men ever. Without doing extra
Yea and no baseball, MJ got both ya rings
Kevin Garnett
"Western Conference finals"
That's was my team but please don't act like terry Cummings or the rifleman had anything and Jr Reid was a bust we had Robinson rodman Elliott del negro and Anderson that's it Avery Johnson had no shot!
Avery Johnson was money from midrange
@@armandodelossantos736 back when everyone had a mid range shot or you didn't make the NBA! sheeeet David Robinson had mid range jumper at the free throw line! It was mandatory unlike now
Still not the shrug
This is so much better than the shrug
@@armandodelossantos736
I agree. Hakeem outperformed Robinson in every statistical facet and wasn't outscored in any of the 6 games. At least Clyde outperformed Jordan on the glass and also blocks. And also outscored him in game 2.
Over 4 blocks per game 🔥 🔥
This is and always will be the GOAT individual playoff series in NBA history.
The dream was robbed
