  • www.digcoaching.com. Jeff Copper is an ADHD coach and host of Attention Talk Video which is part of the Attention Talk Network, www.attentiontalknetwork.com.
In this episode of Attention Talk Video (www.attentiontalkvideo.com), host and ADHD/attention coach Jeff Copper interviews Dr. Charles Parker (www.drcharlesparker.com) on chapter six of his book, "ADHD Medication Rules: Paying Attention to the Meds for Paying Attention." The interview centers around this scenario: You get diagnosed with ADHD, the doctor prescribes a stimulant and that is it; right? Wrong! Getting the right stimulant in the right dose delivered at the right time is more of an art than a science. As Dr. Parker states, stimulant medications behave in predictable ways but depend on many variables present in your own body, such as digestive and secondary allergy problems (stimulants don't treat food allergies), issues with metabolism, liver problems, heavy metal toxicity, hormone imbalance, and drug-to-drug interactions. The bottom line is this: If the body isn't working correctly, the stimulant medications or the supplements you take won't work correctly.
In the interview Jeff and Dr. Parker touch on three key concepts: the burn rate (measuring metabolism), duration of effectiveness (DOE), and the therapeutic window. All of these are covered in more detail in our show entitled, "Paying Attention to the Meds for Paying Attention: Burn Rate, Duration of Effectiveness, and the Therapeutic Window with Dr. Charles Parker." They discuss how these three concepts plus eight ounces of corn (used to measure transit time) can be valuable tools in helping you work with your mental health professional to dial in the proper type and dosage of ADHD stimulant medication.
If you have ADHD and have tried stimulants and been frustrated with the results, this show is a must-for you. You can find more information by listening to Dr. Parker's interview on Attention Talk Radio (www.blogtalkradio.com/attentio.... If you are a professional and find these observations helpful, do pop over to Dr. Parker's professional training site, www.corebrain.org, for considerably more referenced details.

We need more shows like these...these are some LOGICAL FACTS. Pure science that simply makes sense.
No wonder why so many people with same symptoms react differently to the same medication.

Great show! Very informational! I learned a ton and I am on my way to my pantry for corn. Great to see you on video and I found it easier to pay attention by being to see your faces! I am looking forward to watching more of your shows. Thanks Jeff Copper for providing such a great service to the ADHD community and helping educate people to change lives. Thanks Dr. Parker to sharing this information and caring. I hope to see you both at the CHADD conference in San Francisco. Rebecca

Rosumisorimu... if you have specific ideas let us know. On another note... many refer to taking stimulates and feeling like a zombie... we taped a show with Dr. Parker we hope to release in a few weeks that explain this and puts it into context. Look for it... we hope you find it insightful and welcome any feedback you have!

Is it bad to drink orange juice at the same time as my adhd medication. Is it bad if I drink orange juice a few hours(4-6) after taking adhd meds, especially aderall xr

@brasileiros Silva From my perspective yes to some degree. Like anything it depends on many variables.

I've heard from Dr. Sten Ekberg (YT) that processed juice is filtered to become very high in sugar, whether it's refined, added sugar or natural.
If you made juice yourself, it'd maybe be better if I recall correctly.
I do not know if this is different from juice with pulp and juice that hasn't had water removed then added back in.

what do you mean by wait to see when the corn pass?

    • @AttentionTalkVideo
      @AttentionTalkVideo  Před rokem

When Dr parker says from the mouth to the south he means from when you eat the corn to when you poop it out. The idea is to time how long the corn takes to pass through your digestive system. If it comes out quick or take days are indications there is something up with your digestive system... they ADHD meds might not be getting absorved correctly. If that is the case you need to resolve those issues to get you meds right.
      thanks for posting

      thanks for your respond.
yes effectively, by seeing a physiatries we have found out about my ADD and we started to trying stimulants, however having tried ritalin, medikinet and concerta-all in slow release form- so far(Adderall is banned in france therefore not un option), by getting until 40mg daily I didn't feel any difference , and by 60mg I felt a peek prior to 1hour after, and feeling mostly the side effectes like excessive anxiety( having in mind that I am already on 50mg of paroxetine daily), that beeing mentionned, by watching your video I was thinking maybe the probleme lies within the digestive system and the liver.
About the experiment that Dr parker mentioned, I was wondered, sorry to ask but how can we notice the corn seed in our poop, I mean maybe by chance it's places some where in the poop that is noticable by looking at it, but what if it is'nt?

It's unfortunate just how many people do not discover that ADHD drugs as a matter of fact are actually (meth)amphetamines. That's why I am proudly showing you my short video about the treatment of ADHD at the core with a clinically proven technique.
My young kids concentration greatly increased by simply training the working memory, so I hope this is going to be helpful to you as well as others!
    All the very best,
    Robert Smith

Robert Smith They are not "as a matter of fact" methamphetamine. Some ADHD medications are amphetamines and some are not. None of them are methamphetamine and none of them metabolize into methamphetamine (Which makes sense as meth converts to amp). Now, to reverse it, methamphetamine is in the amphetamine family, but NONE of the ADHD medications are methamphetamine. Methamphetamine is a DOUBLE methylated phenylethylamine. It's like saying codeine is the same thing as heroin. Speak correctly or just don't speak.

This all-to-common misunderstanding throws much counterproductive hype on the effective use of stimulants. Admittedly we do have problems out there. If ADHD meds are used incorrectly, that will often present a problem. See my short video explaining stimulant differences and how to dose them here: corepsych.com/amp - with many peer-reviewed references in the description. Used correctly with proper biomedical understandings, stimulant medications can, and do, improve lives.

This is the same nonsense with the so called opioid crisis.
Meth is a street drug made by a neighbor or mexican drug lord in a shed.
Like herion is a street drug and not an opioid that should be labeled as an opiod overdose. Herion can by mixed with anything including meth.
Meth is usually mixed with herion to make it more addictive too.
Dont listen to ppl that skew facts for monetary gain. Pain and addiction clinics also health food knuckleheads are on every corner now. ADHD is next! Its coming!
Their coming for your health. Control your health. Control you!
