Great tutorial video! About to order some parts off your website!
Thanks for the help!
Dang, I was hoping that I wouldn't have to do and soldering in order to replace the buttons. My guide button gets stuck and I wanted to replace/clean it, but oh well. Great video btw
You can get both boards out without desoldering the rumble wires if you are VERY careful. DO it at your own risk.
Thanks for the video, helped alot :)
I got a few problems after installing the new trigger and bumpers.
The first problem is that the triggers dont feel the same as before. When I pressed the triggers before they were completely silent, now they make some sort of clickie noise...
The 2nd problem is when i install the custom bumpers it takes alot of force to click them in once they are on the controller. Also the clickie sound of the bumpers are gone.
Perhaps any of u guys have experienced this before?
Is it possible to just take off the ab xy buttons and put them back but in the traditional nintendo style ab xy button layout? I heard you could remap buttons with an app on the xbox one, but i would also like to change the physical buttons to where i want them. i'm a current wii u owner and looking to upgrade to the xbox one s.
I installed a different color shell on my X-Box one controller and I had a hard time fitting the after market hand grips and I had to put the old ones back on.
Loved the insight video and trust me it is very helpful to new users, not me since I am not new to this kind of stuff, but I am new to soldering, and wanted to ask you a question, earlier I was replacing my guide button with a custom made one I had made with my 3d printer, and stupid me when doing so I pinched the left rumble motor off the board both red/black, I was wondering what soldering gun/soldering you used to replace the ones back on in this video? and did you have to strip any of the wire off to also replace it back on the board?
Standard RadioShack Solder is fine.
If you need to strip some wire to expose the copper under the shielding to resolder the rumbles that is fine. As long as it is attached to the board it will work.
is there a vid like this for the xbox one s controller?
Do you know how to make the abxy buttons quieter? p.s good work on the controller.. it came out nice!
Is there a way to reset the controller's firmware like you would reset a computer's BIOS?
cool stuff
do u need solder or can u do it without
So do i have to solder the back to replace RT RB LT LB & the dpad? Or is that just 4 the buttons and thumbsticks?
The only soldering involved with changing the shell and buttons and such is the 4 wires for the rumble motors.
Hi great video, question for you, can i take out xbox one controller buttons without having to use a soldering iron?
Thank you.
Yes, I think he done that to be complicated
When soldering the wires do you drop solder on them or just heat the wires themself to the points on the board?
I tin the points then just touch the wire to the solder and touch with the tip
Great Tutorial, i'm definitely gonna give this a go for the problem im encountering.. A question, my X button on my xbox one controller isnt sticking, but it does these two things. It acts like the X button is constantly held down but the X button is completely free and not stuck when i press it. But whenever i shoot on COD it reloads after one bullet. It also then stops responding as if its been pushed down and the X button has been pressed just once then held down. Again this would be normal if the X button is sticking but it isnt! do you think a simple X button change would fix this? or is this something to do with the wires? because i tested this and took the shell off. and my X button was completely fine. so what would you suggest? to try replace the X button or try and figure out the wiring?
A response would be fantastic man as I spent $170 on this controller.
Thanks!
SOunds like you have a modded controller with an X remap Perhaps? If so there might be solder or metal stuck on the X point of the motherboard.
Could also be the pad is touching the board 100% of the time.
No reply lol
Do you have to cut the wires?
Please help me, every shell ive got doesn't seem to fit well, theres always a gap at the bottom, it all fits together if you really push it together but when you just hold it normally it just doesn't fit right, they work fine so i don't know what i could've done wrong, am i just buying poorly made shells? if i bought one from quickdrawmods would it be any different? have you any ideas what it could be?
OfficialEnsky can;t help you unless we see it.. Send pics to Sales@quickdrawmods.com I will make sure someone give you some advice.
Thanks
was going great until i tested the controller and the triggers werent working any idea what happened
Wow that's a really Nice Custom Build! I just ordered some parts for my Xbox one controller! Blacked out buttons Aluminum Analog Thumb sticks... My only concern is my sucky soldering iron! I meant to buy a good one a while ago now I wish I did. Do you think I risk the chance of over heating the board using a cheap soldering iron?
for just the rumble points.. Your chances are good.
QUICKDRAWMODS1 Cool only if necessary, other wise I will try to access the button housing without soldering. Really don't want to take a chance! My Soldering Iron is a hoopty lol. Thanks for the reply.
All the xbox one controller shells I've bought, the headset port doesn't align right. Do you know a way to fix this? I was thinking I might have to sand something down, but I don't know what.
I only have this issue when you have hot glue on the circuit board for a mod. If you doing a shell swap.. I have not had that issue.. Did you try to just PINCH the shell by the port and pushing up on the adapter. It will slide in.
What tools will I need if I am just changing my front cover and buttons. Could you make a video on how to do that for me please.
This video cover all of that. If you are changing buttons you need a T6 screwdrive and a soldering iron to desolder the 8 rumble wires - you cannot change the buttons without removing both boards. Keeping the wires on the main board soldered, makes it quite difficult to get to the board underneath to unscrew it to get to the ABXY Buttons. If you are just changing the shell - no buttons a T8H is all you need and no soldering iron is needed.
Can you show my where to solder to put leds under each button? I bought ones made for leds.
No... Place 3mm where you want. You need to solder the positive to 3.3V and a 100 ohm resistor. Solder ground to any ground. PIN 4 on all controllers on J6 except the new S controller which would be J5. Placement to light up your buttons is not something we do, so your own your own with that.
I do not have a soldering iron, is there a way for me to remove the boards without desoldering the rumblers?
You don't have to, I think he done that to be complicated
Any Idea how I fix a problem, I changed the shell
First time no problem and then decried to change it again, the front shell doesn't fit flush and lifts where the front shell meets the guide cover and bumpers Any help I think there's a problem with the top two screws as it comes apart without having to undo them, do you have any idea what I could fix or replace? Thanks
Also when i try to screw in the top two screws they just fall in and do not tighten, is that problem with the screws being worn or the case behind that holds them?
Is this harder to do with a scuf because I want to change the colours about in mine?
depends..... certain parts are soldered - others are fully changeable.
Do you have to solder if you only want to change the shell, and bumpers??
No you dont
anyone else thought of a cow instead of a tuxedo? (great vid pretty much in depth)
Sure why not.....
do I have to remove the rumble motors to access the buttons on the board?
TrueDibran no
Can Xbox 360 controller parts be used in the Xbox one controller? I recently bought all orange buttons and thumb sticks to Mod my 360 controller. When I do up grade can I take the thumb sticks, LT/RT, ABXY and center buttons out and put them in the Xbox one controller?
Scratch the LT/RT. I know those won't fit.
+Justin Costa No they cant. The ABXY are different lengths, bumpers are totally different design. Thumbsticks might fit...
Do you absolutely need a soldering tool to change the controller shell? If you do need it why?
If you a doing a FULL CHANGE then yes you need the iron to desolder and resolder the rumble wires on the main board. Changing everything out with them attached is quite difficult to do.
After successfully putting my controller back together there is a rattling noise when the controller rumbles. It's as though the vibrators are touching the outer shell. How can this be resolved? Thanks
Take the faceplate off and check the rumbles. Perhaps use hot glue to hold them in place.
Quickdrawmods, my phone will not let me open the tabs for your website. I was wondering if you could send me a link to replace all my buttons with black ones. Please and thanks.
Just scroll to the bottom and click the tab that says VIEW FULL SITE..
Can the D pad be removed without having to de-solder the vibrators?
Sure can, just undo the 5 screws.. take the faceplate off.. remove the clip holding the d-pad with tweezers and swap it out. takes 2 mins tops to do the whole swap.
u dont need a solder, if ur careful
That is True, but why risk it if you can desolder and resolder the rumble motors. Makes working with the controller easier overall.
i personally don't care about the rumble packs, but the motherboard is really important. Usually I would always keep my rumble packs stationary and not in mid air.
Just got done doing this myself. I was careful when turning it over and the rumble motors stayed in place.
Do I have to remove the vibrating sticks to change buttons?
TO change the buttons it is recommended you desolder the 8 wires for the rumbles to make it easier to remove the boards to change the ABXY BUTTONS.
would 360 x,y,a,b buttons work in an xbox one controller?
Jack Mooney no they would not. there made differently and they are different sizes and the keys on them are different.
All the screws on the inside are stripped. This was a new remote. Does Microsoft do that?
Lol never knew peter griffin made tutorials
Where did you get the white shell from?
Get your shells on quickdrawmods.com
have you or can you do a SouthPaw conversion for an Xbox One controller ?
+Vass We could.. but it is very difficult to do. A better bet is to buy a TITAN ONE or CRONUS and use it to remap your analogs southpaw for you with no modifications.
once out of nappies, have another go
what are the screw drivers you used?
T8 and a t6 security screwdriver
I wanted to change my buttons and shell but it looks hard and knowing me I would fuck up
It's pretty easy. Not much you can do wrong. You can work around the soldered wires if you need to. That way you do not need to desolder them.
This looks hard... Lol i just wanna pay someone to do it
+Nordo 33 Really it is not that hard but we would be glad to do it for you. Contact us. KIRK
@meabhops 01 - WHat wires?
Do we pay for you to do that
If anyone in the comments is a controller pro can u help me out. I got a new scuf and it all works fine except the x button. It works if i push the bottom half of the button but if i push the top half it requires a bit more pressure and instead of clicking in and out it snaps in and out? Anyway I can fix this without sending it back?
yes.. just pull up the daughter board a bit and make sure the pad is straight and screw it back down.
JAMMEZZ1996 don't listen to him
If I were to send you my controller and the parts for it would you do it for £/$? If so, how much?
PLEASE HELP!!
My rumble motors do not work at all. I've copied everything you have done but they do not work?
you have them soldered wrong.
THere are + an - signs on the circuitboard where you solder the wires.
RED goes to + and black goes to -
For the trigger rumbles Grey is + and black is -
thanks heaps for the video, helped a lot.
Turns out i had the wires correct, when i turned my xbox off for a few hours and came back to play they worked fine!
do you have to take out rumbles
+samuel efird (dangsam22) You should but if your really good you don't have to.
The 360 controller was so much easier to customise ahaa, thanks!
it's not as bad as it looks...
QUICKDRAWMODS1 I can imagine... I was daunted by the 360 controller at first :)
I followed everything you did now my controller won't stay on without the charge wire in
Then you did something wrong... Sounds like you broke something... You need to be careful when seperating the boards and when soldering
My A button stop working it gets stuck. I'm going to try to fix it by taking it apart. Or does anyone know a way I can fix it?
the connection wire is Broke you need soldering iron
VeRm UnKnOwN no you don't
Great video but you can access the buttons without soldering just be sure you don't rip wires
Not without some Gymnastics. Many People are better of desoldering and resoldering for full changeout. Flipping the board around and such can lead to people tangling their wires or even ripping them. Hence I offer the "safe" solution in the tutorial. But for those who know what they are doing, yes you can get around desoldering.
JR yes you can there's screws people don't know about so yes you can with out ripping up your wires
Is the soddering necessary ?
Issaiah Gonzales nope
How many controllers do you have? If you have many do a give away :)))) mine is broken....... my R2, L2, L1, R1 wont function..
Love your videos by the way :)
Xbox one controllers are under warranty, tell them you bought it in the last 40 days and that it out of the 30 day exchange period at bestbuy or gamestop whatever and they will replace it for next to nothing.
We have 1000's of controllers we are a controller company.
can you do my controller for me i will suply the parts
Depends on what you need done. Email us a sales@quickdrawmods.com
Damn im missing that small ass screw driver what ever its called i cant take the buttons off :( theres juice under the buttons thats making them stick it sucks
Torx T6 - its a common and easy to find screw driver.
T6
There is solder in the hole. This has to be on purpose.
Why is it so hard just to change my abxy, select ,and start buttons. Why can't it be as easy as changing out the faceplate, d-pad ,and thumbsticks. My damn...
Kai Monino it is you dont need to solder search CZcams there's simple quick ways I've done it myself
I was gonna swap out my elite abxy buttons to white ones but nvm!! Lol that's wayy to much work for different color buttons.
It is a bit of work, but pretty easy.
QUICKDRAWMODS1 I'm not that techy to start messing with the controller and don't wanna mess it up.
Not much to mess up. It's pretty much plug and play..
QUICKDRAWMODS1 can I use a regular Xbox one controller troller triggers on the elite controller?
As long as it is not the NEW CONTROLLER S then YES....
Pulling the side out is hard as shit
Not really.. You can always use a screwdriver or a flat plastic tool to get under the seam and then just pop it up.
Tutoral 😂👌
in the beginning you said 360
I acc cba I would rather pay £10 to get my RT button fixed.
0:35 he says xbox 360 controller lol instead of xbox one.
Usually I would never approve a comment like this. It usually gets deleted before it gets published, but I am going to publish it and respond to it. Yes I made the mistake of saying Xbox 360. We have been in business since late 2007. I have worked with Xbox 360 controllers for 7 years now. Xbox one controllers are quite new to me. When you are doing a tutorial video on the fly and doing it in one take (no editing or scrips and such) you tend to slip and make a mistake or two in what you say,. It really is not a big deal. The title of the video is what lets everyone know what it is about. I am not worried about a small system name slip. But thanks for pointing that out...
LOL
Elite Nova get out of here you nazi
WARNING!!! I would not recommend you changing your ABXY to bullet style buttons as they come apart off the controller EASY. Mine lasted a week!.
Wrong screwdrivers. Trying to do it right now and they don't work
You need a TORX T8H (THE H is import) it is the security bit screwdriver. The T8H is needed to take the 5 screws off to open the shell. Then you need a T6 screwdriver for the smaller screws inside.
I guess the H was important! Lol. We just broke the little nub in the middle and it worked. I did two controllers, one worked, and one wouldn't, but we don't know why. This video was very helpful! Thanks!
I am very glad it was helpful for you. The other thing you can do with those bigger screws with the security bit in the middle is use a flathead eyeglass screwdriver. If you get the right size you can wedge between two of the octagon points and unscrew it.
Or if you're really ingenious take a very small drill bit and drill out a small hole in the tip of your t8 screwdriver and turn it into a t8h.
Didn't think of that! Thanks for the advice!
It's an xbox one controller
That is not a 360 controller
You said get Xbox360 controller
well....looks like im not going to mess with my buttons.... lol...
Why it's just some screws... REally easy to do.
its the soldering part im scared of tbh... dont really wanna mess with it and take chances
If you maneuvered the boards the right way you can unscrew both without desoldering and get the daughterboard out to replace buttons if you needed to - desoldering just makes it easier.
Lol he said 360 controller
he said xbox 360 controler😂
did you say a 360 controller??? that's an Xbox one controller bro haha
He just said Xbox 360 to Xbox one.
I did... After working with 360 for 6 years.. It's quite a challenge to get the 360 moniker out of you head. I did this video only months after xbox one came out. SO I made one error in my speaking.. how about the content of the video. .DId it help you?"
+QUICKDRAWMODS1 no I actually just want to know the place where the wires for the vibration motors are so I can solder mines back in for one of my controllers.
Thats not a xbox 360 controller
Don't you mean Xbox one controller fool
when you work with 360 for 8 years, and your doing your first Xbox one shell change video... the name 360 is stuck in your head.. The title of the video says it all. so I make a spoken word mistake.. big deal... it's the content of the video not the slip of the tongue that counts
Good job, but it looks stupid
