    when connecting XLR microphones, is the audio recorded in the center channel, or is it only on the left or right channel by itself?
    does it have enough gain to power an SM7B?

    Good review! I’ve a sp 404, guitar, mic, and a zoom h1n, and just wanted to have something in the bag that was small, and I could jam/record/make tidbit ideas to pass around - so this is probably it. Just wondering if there’s anything else on the market that outdoes this since it’s a year ago?Thanks

  • @cesarformenti
    @cesarformenti Před 10 měsíci +2

    Thank you Liam. If I want to record a video with a microphone connected and guitar connected, there is no reverb for the microphone in this device, so its not a good option to record videos with a microphone right? You always will need a separate reverb/mixer, to manage this effects, so it becomes less interesting to have specific inputs for instruments and voices that sounds very dry. Is that right?

    • @LiamKillen
      @LiamKillen  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Yeah if you're going DI and you want reverb you'd have to add it using an external unit like maybe an FX pedal or something like this.

Tried to get the first gen used and the order was cancelled on me. I do have one Question. The reason I was hesitant was based off of phone compatibility. This will plug and play? and inputs audio into your phone? I just want to be clear. I have android and it's a older phone. I never saw to many easy options to do this with android or even my kindle. I was looking at the Live cast mixer they have also. Anyway you can touch on how well it works with different phones? Or am I just over thinking it. Thanks again.

      I used a android tablet for this and an app such as zenbeats or koala. Plugging a audio cable from the headphone jack of the phone to the 'phone' input/output on the right of the mixer. It seems to automatically send audio from your inputs to whatever device is plugged into the audio input/output hole (I.E, my android tablet).
      From there I use zenbeats or koala sampler to apply effects.
      It's like this - The inputs on the mixer sends the inputs audio to my tablet, which my tablet processes and sends back to the mixers headphones jack or outputs.
      There doesn't seem to be any accidental doubling effect either and next to no latency so far.
      I'm thoroughly impressed.

    Thank you for this. I have just bought one and my first challenge is - I went live on TikTok to play my aerophone and used the headphone socket on a laptop into the Line in 1 socket for use as backing track. When I tried the same set-up again, nobody could hear the backing music - how strange and any thoughts on this please? The next thing is, it is very gear towards iPhone and iPad, but as I like to read the music as I play I am using things like quicktime of youtube on a laptop as the screen is much bigger. I'd rather invest in a new MacBook air rather than an iPad - do you think it would work - I imagine you would use a setup more like that than an iPad? Obvs given you a follow on TT!

      If you're using a laptop, try plugging it into the phone input/output on the right of the mixer with some aux cables.
      If all else fails, you might have to do some audio interface.

    Hello lovely channel: Here is my Gear...
    An acoustic Martin D18 guitar with a K&K mini pickup installed. A SHURE beta 87a phantom powered mic. A STOMP BOX made by ORTEGA and a Fishman Loudbox Artist amplifier.
    Here is the question; I know the GO gives a dry signal, would it be a better idea to use DIRECT LINE IN LINE OUT and connect the amp to the GO? Would I then need to monitor with my headset in my amp or monitor with my headset plugged into the GO? Would the settings on my AMP have effect on the sound,...I mean is for example chorus and echo noted while monitoring? And the other question: Will my iPhone use the build in mic also when plugged in the GO?

    • @LiamKillen

    Whats cool is that, i dont have to route the microphone to my tablet. Somehow, the input/output sends my microphones audio from the mixer to the tablet.

    Isn’t this really the third try at this product and still a micro usb connection. I bought the pro last year it only took a few months for this connection to go bad. The concept of a small interface is great but this is not road worthy which is the point of it. I unplugged the cord after use so it wouldn’t get bumped and damage the jack in transit but it still failed from normal use after a few months. This thing needs to be built better even if it were more money. There are plenty of options for about the same money that are bulkier but can be powered with a power brick and a usb cable. I just don’t want to see people waste the money on this product. If it were about fifty dollars I would say buy two and then you have a backup but at this price Roland needs to do better.
