24 hours in Seattle cut short... (and coolest wheelchair lift EVER!)

- I only had 24 hours to explore the city of Seattle on my mobility scooter, Scootz! Unfortunately Scootz had a setback, cutting my plans in half BUT I luckily still got to hit The Space Needle, Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum, Pike Place Market and the OG Starbucks!
Bonus points: Seattle had THE COOLEST wheelchair lift I've EVER been on!
Seattle Resources/Tips for traveling with a wheelchair:

I went on an Alaskan cruise out of the port of Seattle so I couldn't spend too much time in the city but I still wanted to squeeze some stuff in since I've never been! I'll share about my Alaskan adventure with you soon! It's for my first ever brand partnership on CZcams and I still can't believe this opportunity!!! So so so thankful for all of your support with my channel
So Chelsea bear your in king county cause I used to live in Spokane WA
Your welcome, stay positive, you can accomplish so much, God Bless your always in my prayers
I'll wait for your Alaskan adventure I'm sure it was nice, keep going,
@realchelseabear hi am Mulenga from Zambia a travel blogger and would like to make a travel video experience with you.
How can I get intouch?
Thank you for your posts. You are such an inspiration. I am a disabled veteran and use a scooter too. I can walk very short distances (around 20-30 steps). After watching a few of your videos, I plan to start binging this weekend.
#alwaysstayhappy
Thank you for your service! And thank you for watching :) :)
Thanks sir, I’m in the same system as you. I just can’t get the VA to take care of me or care on a personal level. We are just statistics to them. My life is upside down being disabled compared to how it once was.. no support…
@@skyhawk21 don’t give up on them. Keep pushing. If possible, talk to a patient advocate.
This is actually normal weather for this time of year. The rainy season is usually from mid to late September through April beginning of May. Glad you’re enjoying the city. Hope you have fun on your cruise. I love the Alaska cruise can’t wait to see your footage from that too!
I love your energy and your outgoing personality, you would definitely be fun to be around ❤
thank you so much!!
Excellent trouble shooting with Scootz! Beauty and brains!!
How appropriate for the Space Needle renovation to incorporate that Transformer Stair/Lift; very trippy and futuristic!
And I noticed the iced coffee transformed into a cold beer. 🍺 😊
I get vertigo butterflies just watching. Feels like I'm gonna fall. I couldn't do it. Great courage
Thank you for the tour of the Space Needle, and a chance to see your very gorgeous smile! Last time I was at the Space Needle, there was no glass floor. I am afraid that would freak me out!! Have a nice weekend!!
I was there in 1978 and it was sunny for most of 6 days that we were there!!! It is definitely hilly area!!!! Thanks for sharing 💞✌️
that's so lucky! very hilly lol thank you for watching! :)
@@realchelseabear Seattle was raised at the end of the 1800s after the city was mostly destroyed by a fire. When they rebuilt, they raised most of the city to avoid the flooding and mudslides and other general mess that came from a wet climate at the bottom of a mountain range :). Thus, the city of Seattle was rebuilt raised, except for obviously the water's edge where it had to be sloped down to meet.
You climbed that slope, almost! Glad you had fun, definitely come back in September, or on a good year, October when the weather is still pleasant and not very cold or rainy yet - we still get highs at times in the 70s in September and the average is in the 60s, although some colder years October can be 60s/50s which might be chilly for someone from the south :), but the area is less busy with tourism than you'll run into in June or July, and even August.
When you do come back, you can use sites like AccessMap to find accessible ways up the hill climbs:
www.accessmap.io/?region=wa.seattle&lon=-122.338&lat=47.607&z=14.5
I'm sure you can find something similar on the internet, but there used to be a paper map showing which buildings in downtown Seattle had elevators that you could use to get up/down the steep hills. You would go into a building, go up/down an elevator until you were level with the next street, go out and cross the street to the next building and repeat until you were on the street you wanted to be on.
FYI, in the early 1900's, Seattle's downtown was regraded. They removed the tops off of high points and used that soil to fill in low areas including making new land in Elliot Bay. Which means many of the hills and the streets going up them were much longer, higher and much, much steeper.
Oh Chelsea, so happy for you..wow what an adventure....your friend IS WONDERFUL...I had tears of happiness when you were up top Space needle...W O W.
SENDING LOVE FROM
NO. IDAHO...🙏❤
Don’t know how you always smile, but good job… I’m disabled and mentally and physically I’m just glad to survive another day.. smiling for me is well impossible…. I guess I will smile the day the VA health care system cares about me on a personal level.. instead of a statistic!
That violinist was a really good. Thanks for sharing I never been to the space needle but that elevators stare thing was pretty freaking sweet. They should have that at all places. I’m glad you’re having such a great time.
You know how some people have an anointing, I don't think they know it so much, some can see it, it's a special gift, like the saying for many have entertained angels unawares, sometimes you see them too 🐈🕊️✌️
Those hills in Seattle are no joke.
That tour was nice I enjoyed myself going up the high high building. It was interesting looking out from the top I liked it much as you and your friend did. That was a good tour. I guess you had a good time, that's all that counts. You and your school are you going to place around the world? Why don't you have some might work here? You could go out and have a good time and sit and have supper or go out and eat or have a cup of doing great honey, or you're keeping us smile on your face, keep that s*** up. Don't get depressed, you're a good woman.
I'm happy for you, William Smith.❤❤😊❤❤❤❤❤
As a guy who is REALLY afraid of heights, i wouldnt even THINK of going in that elevator! You just dont like high places! The fear is a complete hatred of such places!
Oh that elevator pov makes me say no thanks haha. I’m ok with living 50 miles from seattle and not ever going up to the top of the space needle lol
Welcome to my area, Chelsea! Hope you loved it!
I loved it! Wish I was there longer, but only more of a reason to plan a trip back one day!
I like travel and sightseeing videos, and your video popped up! Thanks for sharing with us. You took us to multiple locations instead of one which is a bonus. Cheers!
The Glass Museum was my favorite. Beautiful!
AWSOME!❤😊
thanks Todd!!
I watch alot of the duckcall room or unashamed podcasts, yet I've never subscribed to them (you are the 1st). Probably should've by now, but that's neither here nor there. You are a true inspiration just like their podcasts, hopefully all is well and God bless you.
Sweetie, I own a rehab Mobility company. Whenever you need parts, batteries or a new scoots just let me know and I'll have them shipped to you at my cost. You do so much to brighten so many people's days it's the least I could do. Colorado Wheelchair
that's so kind. thank you so much!
Chelsea. I just have to say I love your channel. You are so positive in your videos and you’re so upbeat and always smiling. I don’t know you but I can tell that you are a great person from watching all your videos. I love your videos of the trips you go on. I also have to say you have the nicest smile. You glow when you smile. I love it. I think you’re beautiful and please keep making videos so I can keep watching. I hope you’re doing well😀😀😀
thank you so much Craig!!!
Wonderful. What a great day to be there! Seattle is not always so accommodating with the weather! Of course you have a fear of heights - that is a very rational things for all of us.. But as you found, you can suppress that when you know it is actually safe.
You are such a beautiful young lady and I've gotta say much braver than I am, I live here and have been to the Space Needle 3 times since 1960 and won't be going because of the glass floor, to bad such a short trip I can think of so many places I could show you that you would I'm sure be amazed by Tulip fields, turquoise mountain lakes and streams glacier fed, Eagle watching by the hundreds.... and please when you hear that nice warm days are rare we have 80, 90 and 100 degree days but for all of the green you see the rain is worth the payback....
I know exactly where that opening shot is! You came to Seattle at the perfect time. Sorry about our hills!
What a women. You are amazing. Facing up to adversity and taking it head on. Truly inspirational.
That's funnie! Squirrel! (Dinosaur). . . 😂
hahaha definitely had a squirrel moment 😆
this lady is so friggin' gorgeous and major courageous. i can only wish to have these attributes someday.
Glad you're okay after the mishap. Seattle looks nice too
She's so chearful and positive ❤
Seattle looks cool Chelsea nice views 🆒🆒👍👍😎😎
Looks like you had fun overall. Love your videos. 👍 Keep Smiling. 😀
That’s so exciting. I’m so happy for your you tube travels. Thank you for sharing.
6:58 It's a shame the front wall went up. Coming to think of it...why?
9:40 Looks fine to me.
10:29 That's a nice example of accessibility.
Thanks for yet another sweet video, but I was sorry to see there was so much text in there. I would have loved hearing you do a voiceover.
Oh, I'm sorry to hear about Scootz letting you down, but glad you learned something new about it.
I wish I knew you were in town I would love to meet you, hope you had a good time. 👍 Bill
Great trip, great video.
You are an amazing young lady. Your beautiful smile and amazing personality make it impossible to watch your videos and not smile all the way through it.
I would be willing to bet that you have no idea how much you inspire and help folks that have challenges. I was told at an early age a person does not have a disability unless they give in to it and not stand up to it. Young lady, in my humble opinion, even sitting in your chair you are ten feet tall.
God bless you for putting yourself out there for the world to see. And see you smiling and going on with life regardless of challenges.
You'll love Alaska, I'm certain.
God bless ya'll and stay safe on your journey.
Chelsea you are awesome! I enjoy the videos. your spirit is great.Great smile!
Omg I'm the first view? And the first comment? Whoop whoop. I love you, girl. ❤❤❤
HI SANDY!!! whoop whoop thank you!!!
Cool wheel-chair lift. I had no fear of heights when I was a teenager, but I've become more cautious the older I get... 😉 So with Scootz was the battery too drained, or were the hills too steep ? ( I'm guessing they don't make a model with a stronger motor )
It was so cool! And same, I developed a fear of heights a couple years ago when I was in Chicago and walked out onto the glass deck on the Williis tower lol since then, my body totally freezes up and my stomach gets knots, idk how to shake it! And usually Scootz is ok or I bring my charger and charge it for little bit but this time was different. It wouldn't even turn on. After troubleshooting, I had to reset the battery then thankfully it started to work. I think the hill was too steep no matter how slowly I went.
@@realchelseabear Glad that you were able to sort out Scootz. My dare-devil days with heights are long gone, it's hard not to get motion sickness when I walk out on a tower with a glass-floor.
I work for Lumen. Cool to hear him reference the stadium.
How did the violin player not have a bigger crowd.
This woman gets prettier by the day
Chelsea did an excellent job recording him.👏👏👏 Bravo to both of them!
Wow Chelsea, what a scary experience with Scoots! So cool to see that we still have some kind (and quick thinking!) ppl in this world. 👍🏼 As much as I hate to say this about my own state, some of the ppl in our larger cities have become a tad questionable.. but I suppose that’s been happening a little bit all over the world. I’m glad you made it out of that scary situation safe and sound.. and Scoots lived to scoot another day. LoL
I’m always proud to see someone conquer some of their fears, I too have an issue with heights. I’ve lived in WA State for many years and still have yet to visit the Space Needle, it’s looks pretty cool though, thanks for sharing your day. 👍🏼😊🌻
I would have been nervous about going on the glass floor on my scooter. I have gone everywhere on my scooter. I have had mine shut down but quickly realized it had a shutdown button. That was scary. Thanks for sharing your adventures
Thanks 🙏 for your videos so good I love the Alaska cruise
Glad you had fun in Seattle. We live across the water in Kitsap.
So beautiful and cute and she has a gorgeous smile and I wouldn't think about it if I was that far up I would enjoy the view
From what I seen Chelsea you did an awesome job have fun beautiful
Morning cheslea beautiful as ever hope your having a great time be safe my dear friend ❤😘😊❤❤
On ya . Im a bit like that around glass floors at height..i was more worried that that stair lift that flattened out would turn back into stairs while the scooter was parked on it
I didn't even think of that lol! Thankfully that didn't happen
@@realchelseabear its great how you get out and about turning a disabily into a ability. Plus giving people knowledge of what they can access on a scoter etc..God bless people like you..your doing a great job . I had no idea the space needle existed .my favorite episode was the electric buggys in the forest the ones that had dirtbike wheels
@@jimgoose9146 Space Needle was built for the 1962 World's Fair. I remember it. One of my younger sisters was one of the elevator operators in the latter 1970s.
Love her she's great and fearless God bless her❤
thank you for watching! :)
I would not have gone onto the glass floor. You win.
I hope you tipped that man with the fiddle for bringing the quality content
He was a scammer faking it
Pike Place is always busy!
Loved the video! I'm going to Tacoma in August and this gave me a couple ideas on things to do! I'd love to visit Seattle sometime!
As for where I think you should head next, this one might be a bit of a trek, but I'd recommend that you check out Istanbul in Turkey. I've always wanted to visit Istanbul, but have no idea how accessible it is or isn't.
I ❤ Seattle, congrats 👍👍👍
You radiate positivity and optimism. God bless you and Scoots ☺. You are more brave than I. I think I'll just stay down here 😂. Peace miss Chelsea.
I love your beautiful smile. You’re amazing ❤
We had a TIME hunny 😂
awesome video and kudos to you for facing your fear
I would do anything you asked me to. you are so absolutely amazing
love ur videos❤
That issue with the hill sounds terrifying. Props to ya'll for navigating that. Do you get fatigued after a long period (let's like 30+ consecutive minutes) of steering Scootz?
Looks like you had a great time
I love your videos, All the best for your future videos. World is very small.. keep travelling....😀❤🙏
Getting into a accessible taxi 🚕 😎 12:28
You have a great smile beautiful attitude❤🎉
Hi:
As a disabled vet, I've found that when I stop to look at something, shopping, etc: if I turn off the scooter, leave it off while doing something the battery will self charge slighly. I've done this when the battery is not strong enough to move the scooter. waiting just a few minutes at a time i can get where I'm going. Of course this will not work going great distances. Hope this helps, God bless and take care.
Thanks for sharing! I usually do this too when I can, and I always carry my charger with me just in case.
and thank you for your service :)
Great video. I would love to visit the space needle even though I would not see much because I am visually impaired. Still it would be fun
Love that you drink ipa! Great content love the travel vids and positive vibes
Oh, wish I could have met you here
Big fan off you xxxxhi from Edinburgh xxx
We went to the flight museum in Seattle.

Chelsea, you are an incredibly amazing young woman. Beautiful in every way as well.
Lovely Lady…. (Respectively said)😊
Very cool and brave , one place I haven't been , Seattle, I know jimi hendrix was born there, I hear ya Chelsea, craft beers are much better, new york
If u ever visit Edinburgh let me know !! I’ll show u around my city lol xxxxx
I love Edinburgh!!! I was actually there 4 years ago on this day. I miss it and hope to be back one day, it's been one of my favorite places to date.
Yeh a city with a castle. I asked turns out it’s not LEGO. Living here I now can’t say Batman got a fright from the one O’clock gun lol. Chelsea u carry on. Show the world acceptance can be accepted by all. And like other disabilities don’t always show to the rest of the world. I can prove this point to look at me is fine !! No one knows I had a stroke and I’m completely blind in my left eye xxxx
Wow, Chelsea committed a DUI at 600 ft 🍺😅
Here lately I've seen the same video over few times after I get a notice from your site??
She's like a cute dork lol
How did U do all that? You must be super human! 🦸♀️
Pretty girl ;-*
In downtown Seattle, there’s a record company where I believe Jimi Hendrix got his start. Outside the company offices is a diamond statue of Jimi Hendrix. Maybe the next time you go to Seattle you could go there. 😊
Nice🎉
