I am probably too late to the table or you know this already, but when putting a non-Leica adapter onto the CL the x3 and x6 magnification should be available via the up arrow of the "Directional Dial" (right hand side of the back of the cam). This should work out of the box, unless critical presets were changed. -- The TL2, on the other hand can be programmed to have the left wheel do the magnification. Go to Menue. Go to General. Go to Left Dial. Deselect one of the six options for the functions of this wheel, then select "Focus Aid" instead. (There must always be six of six, no other number than that is possible!) Finally press Set. The man icon stands for magnification, the magnifying glass icon for magnification. And there is an icon that combines both. Select the latter and the left dial will permanently (i.e., irrespective of the adapters' brand) allow you to focus in and have focus peaking at the same time.

An interesting check to do on these adapters is to measure (with a micrometer) how parallel both ends of the adapter are, by taking several measurements all the way around.
Some adapter designs can be sloppy, and have an uneven 'slope' rather than being parallel.
An uneven adapter with a slope will tilt the direction the lens is pointing (as it is in relation to the camera body),
this variance affects the image plane of sharpness

@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom with quality of blur being a key objective for you, my comment wouldn't have any effect. It might even add more pleasing blur wherever the lens may be skewed away from.
For any pixel peepers interested, Andrew & Denae did measurements of a small sample of adapters, and within that very small sample, the strongest (most parallel measured attaching surfaces) were among the brands Fotosay, Kipon, and Metabones.

To this adapter not allowing digital zoom anymore sounds like a software limitation on the Leica side, shame really. Has it by any chance been fixed in firmware?

I bought the same 7 Artisans LM-L close up adaptor for my TL2 and SL . I can do both manual focus magnification assist and focus peaking with this adaptor on both bodies. First I thought I couldn't do it but managed to do it by researching a bit deeper and assigning the buttons and dials to the right settings. The idea of paying £350 for a Leica "6 bits" adaptor which does nothing more than tell me what apperture was used is nut. That said, most of my M lenses do not talk "6 bits" anyway. 7 Artisans adaptor is well made and so much cheaper. Highly recommended not unless you just wanted that lovely Leica label on the adaptor which I understand or do I really?

@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom Great to hear that you sorted out the manual focus magnification settings. Perhaps you should do a video on that. You will save fellow Leica shooters a lot of dosh on that overpriced Leica adaptor. By the way, my brother and friends in Hong Kong are Leica collectors. Most of them have almost all the current production Leica bodies and lenses; also the latest digital Hasselblad and Phase 1. That said, they seldom go out and take any photos even there is no lockdown in Hong Kong at present. They only lock you up for three weeks in a hotel (paid for by yourself) if you travel there from outside Hong Kong. We do need collectors like them to feed the Leica and other camera secondhand market. The only Canon lens they wanted to own is the Dream Lens (Canon 50mm f0.95 for Leica). If you bring your models with you to Hong Kong when the lockdown is over, you can run a few portrait workshops over there. After that, I have a very strong feeling that you can buy all the current production Leica bodies and lenses yourself. Happy to be your agent, guide and translator; my brother said he could not understand a word of what you said in your videos despite the fact that he spent many years in Canada before moving back to Hong Kong to run his business.

However, I was waiting until something better were released and... voilà! 7Artisans also has a LM-Z, so I've just ordered it. I was aware of the Shoten adapters, they're high quality, but expensive.
