Same here I've had mine 3 years now, thanks Toys4life C5 for all the help and knowledge.
I always keep my Corvettes connected to battery tenders when not driving them for longer than a week. Never had any starting issues and the batteries last longer in my experience. Also keep a battery jump starter in the car that also has a tire inflator.
Another important point to discuss with C5's is to be careful with any battery issue because it sits above the ECS and if the battery leaks acid it will destroy this important component.

Thanks for the comment!! Since I got my fist bike as a kid, I took it apart because I had to know how everything works. I worked in an auto restoration shop through high school and college. After College I worked in a regular repair shop for a while as a trial run to opening my own shop. I ultimately decided auto repair was going to kill my passion for my personal cars - so
I made a big switch and went into a business career that has been non-auto related. I have never stopped learning about everything automotive. Lately I have been trying trying to learn more about higher level gm diagnostics. There is always more to learn and yes - CZcams is a huge part of it.
any idea why my single din head unit is causing my car to shut off while driving? if i pop the face of the head unit off the sleeve it will start right back up. i just installed it 2 days ago. voltage was around 11.6 according to in dash screen. I purchased through crutchfield and had everything pre connected by them.
No but I would dig into the wiring diagrams and see if you can find something that theoretically could cause the car not to run, and then go from there. Try disconnecting all the wires, and introducing them slowly one by one to see which ones triggering it and why that would be.
Can you do video, how do line outs, on stock bose head unit, for sabwoofer instal?
I was into audio much more several years back - now I just love the music of the LS1 much more (:-)

Thanks! Worked in shops through Highschool and college. Lifelong student and maintain all of my family's cars and my sports cars through the years. I fixed my 01-04 ABS module with a known documented solder fix. 97-00 usually cannot be fixed and a lot of very smart people (much smarter than me) have tried.

I do side jobs occasionally from time to time here in the Midwest, but given where you are, you would be better off having it done somewhere out there. It's not always the issue, but it is very common on the '01 through 04 units.

AGM for sure - find one that is available in your area.. You may have to order it.
I just got a new battery that read 12.6v when I bought it. It was completely disconnected at the time. I put it in the C5 and connected the terminals and right away it read 12.4 at the terminals. Does that indicate some resistance in my terminals?
I doubt it - probably just enough draw when you connected to knock down the charge a smidge. Test it again after you drive it for a little while - I bet it goes up.
I'm not sure I understand the radio theft lock and when it can happen.
If you have theftlock and someone has set a code in it (you or previous owner) once the power is 100% disconnected you need to enter your code or the radio won't work when you restore power. This is only if you have theftlock and a code was entered.
So thing on mine, when I jump it, it does the fuel cutoff at 2mph. Do I need to do anything when I install the new battery?
That sounds like a column lock or security issue. Make sure your battery's fully charged, and torque the terminals to correct value and that they're clean and try again.
@Toys4Life I called a place and he said never ever ever jump a c5. He said start with a fresh battery. If there's any other issues it has to be towed and flashed computer. Pray to God a fresh battery fixes it
What if I just disconnect the battery? Unfortunately my C5 has to be outside under a cover with no power points near...
Charge the battery and store it inside. RODENTS. Research the heck out of keeping them out of (and destroying) your car. Take this very seriously!!
@@Toys4Life We don't have rodent problems in New Zealand like in the U.S. I haven't seen any car damaged by them here. Also It will be a Weekley driver only :)

@@Toys4Life Most owls here are in the forest eating small mice etc. I am in the city with the car, any mouse around would get eaten by the cats lol. So is it ok to disconnect the battery on a 00 C5?
Yes. Just make sure it stays charged, a discharge battery will freeze at temperatures that a fully charged battery won't. My apologies I'm not sure what your coolest weather would be where you're at.

This morning I went out to the garage and the headlights were closed but light was glowing under closed headlight cover? This is why I'm not a chevy guy GM needs to recall these cars long ago
These cars are 20 years old. Gremlins will pop up, hopefully you get it fixed and are problem free for a good long time.
@@Toys4Life I'm working on on it I don't drive it yet until I get it back to good shape my car has low mileage for 22 years I guess gremlins mean a bad wire? Maybe a chewed wire?I was thinking more that this car has a mind of its own like in the movie " Christine "
I think I got the gremlins whipped no lights on in the car for a couple of days now I think it was a switch left on but I don't know for sure and locking the car shuts down everything but I will try a drive it soon I'm waiting for title
I think you are being dramatic. These cars are 20 plus years old. There are many other vehicles that have more problems than the C5. đ
