The thinner axes do tend to bite into wood more-ish, but they get stuck almost constantly, making your initial cut takes 3 times the effort with these axes for not a lot of upside, unfortunately in order to make an axe blade that's thin but also holds up well, the have to be made well, so I can't really help but buy these estwings just because there so high quality

Ya know, these are all great axes in their own right (I have a preference for stacked leather and wood handles), but one thing I noticed is a deflection in the axe heads towards the left (indicating that a right handed individual might get a better bite from each respective axe head). As a left handed axe user, this somewhat discourages me from buying these specifically, though I could somewhat see the Estwing and the second axe (forgor the name--- EDIT: the Hults-Bruk) as something of a side axe for trimming lumber to a flat.

Have had a hults bruks axe since I was five years ood and it follows me still to this day when I'm hiking/hunting, still as sharp as a razor and just far and beyond most others out there, swedish steel at it's best.
The böker axe I have issues woth, have handlef a couple but the automated process of them being made always gave me a sense of something was off, one even had a skewed head mounted, it actually bent along the top towards the edge and thos was a brand new axe. Their knives are fantastic though 😁

Got an estwing and while i like it it arrived with small micro chips on the edge. I believe this is because of the metal rivets on the case.

I bought the Böker Appalachian axe because of *this* video. have never been happier with an axe purchase.
*so mad because I'm on computer and had to comment "2", then go back and edit it, because the "make comment" button is untouchable when i typed my comment.

Harbor freight has a double sided whetstone for 10 bucks or so or use a mill bastard file. Sharpen away from the edge. If you use a grinder of any sort, be careful not to get too aggressive or the metal will get too hot and that will ruin the temper and make the edge brittle. There is a dizzying array of sharpening tools out there and most have instructions
