Spanish style and modern homes are plentiful in SoCal, and they are gorgeous. A good thing about SD is the people. You can be rich, poor, whatever. The people are okay, do their own thing, get along as much as possible.

Interesting video but I call BS on a few points, but to save myself complaining on a large list I will focus on one - I left CA in 2015 after spending 25 years their, my rent in 2015 was $2,550 for a 2 bedroom and not the $1,500 quoted for 2020 - overall if I count taxes or rents or mortgages I am better for a minimum of $35,000+ a year... with this fact, if I want to got to the beach it is a 3 1/2 HR drive or a 50 min flight... $35,000+ pays for a lot of hotel or AirBNB time if I decide to spend a week at the beach.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've lived in Southern California for 57 years. My advice before moving here? Don't. Forty years ago, I would have said, "What are you waiting for?" Thirty years ago, it was a toss-up. Now? Unless you like crappy schools ( 49th out of 50 for academic performance ), the second-highest taxes in the country, homeless everywhere, intrusive, progressive government, extreme crowds and traffic, boorish culture, then don't move here. California was once truly the Golden State. It is now, in many ways, the armpit of the nation. Maybe not if you live in an elite, expensive enclave on the coast, but for ordinary people, there are lots of places wit much better quality of life.

@@DanPBestLifeSD Well, Dan, that's what makes horse races. I'm speaking from long experience living in this state, and as a person who has also lived elsewhere besides California. I meet a lot of people from California who really haven't experienced life outside this bubble. Just like I meet a lot of people who don't live in California who worship "In n' Out", the fast food chain, and Disneyland. "In n' Out" makes just OK food, and Disneyland has become a freak show on parade. But, just like all the folks who show up every summer in Sturgis on their Harleys, these people are living a fantasy that exists only in their heads. Whatever. There are 40 million people living in state. That alone is a serious problem. Did I mention drought, wild fires, and crazy government? And as for your commenters who declare San Francisco a "paradise", given all the derelicts peeing and defecating on the streets, well, I'd say their idea of paradise is pretty limited. So, if this is the Golden State, it's sure lost its luster.

You’re crazy bro, you’re Mexican American and you support people who constantly put you down, harass our people, bully and steal from our people? Bro, get it together! I dated two conservative women and they stole a combined $120,000 from me, including 11.3 bitcoins! They constantly belittled Mexicans and brown people!
I bet you anything they talk down about you and your family behind your back, that’s what they did to me!
I don’t agree with many liberal policies but it’s better than having those blue eyed, blonde racists who want to kick us out of the southwest, a land our ancestors have been here since 1600s!!
