As a Mage Hunter Extraordinaire, he changes the game for Khorne in his ability to isolate and destroy high value lords and heroes, so let's see what he and a Daemon Prince can do in this awesome match against the Lizardmen led by Mazdamundi!

I'll admit I didn't expect a hero unit like Karanak to have so much utility to allow him to do what he does best. Pinning abilities, magic denial, strength buffs, and summoning units all make for a fantastic unit, and I won't be surprised if we see changes in tactics in mere anticipation of him showing up.
Imo Karanak is very balanced.
He's not only in a roster that really needed his help, being the Khorne and Daemons, he's also easily counter able by anti large cav seeing that he doesn't have that much defense nor health.
I think the only thing i think we need to see tuned is his cost a bit, but not a crazy increase would probably be better. He is a niche, but a niche that nearly every faction has a number of. Really, only Khorne and Dwarfs are not on the doggo's hitlist. Upping his cost might help make him less of an insta take in almost every none themed match
@Never_heart I completely disagree, khorne having a strong answer against magic was hugely needed and him being a serious threat for factions that wanna bombard Khorne with magic makes for healthy play because they have to actually invest in protecting their wizard

Awesome showcase! I'm happy that Karanak is relatively squishy too, so he really doesn't seem OP. Also glad to hear your take on Conquest. The only thing I wish could be done, for the sake of immersion, is to have the center flag instead be a very minor landmark. Different depending on the map. Just so that it's not a random flag in the middle of a desert or something.
Really nice to see ur fav cavalry doing well, usually see skullcrushers struggling to pay for themselves

I hope khorn gets the slaughter priest because not having any way to get magic is a big weakness considering even dwarfs have mages so at least a khorn priest can be something close enough to help them 😅
Dwarves don't have mages they have Runesmiths. Rune magic is different to regular magic as it doesn't rely on power directly from the warp/weave to cast 'spells'. If Dwarves use magic, they're more susceptible to the corruption from the warp and start turning to stone.
Chaos Dwarves are a prime example of this.

"not having any way to get magic is a big weakness" and herein lies a fundamental problem with magic in tww3. It's too safe, too reliable, too much of a crutch.

Karanak is so strong, he legitimately makes you reconsider bringing a mage at all, lol.
I don't know about the value, but Mazdamundi seemed to do more friendly fire than to enemies for his first 2 spells 😅

I think it's good that Khorne finally get some counterplay to mages, even if you don't bring it it should force your opponent to at least spend more to bring their caster on a mount. I would rather Karanak wasn't on the DoC roster though, it'll make balancing it much harder.

Karanak with Valkia is a nightmare for mages. Do you cast? They take barely any damage. Do you cast on Valkia? You explode and die. Do you cast on the goodest boy? Nope, you die. Add that both are fast and magic characters are on sewer slide watch

Curious to see a replay in which the capture point makes a difference; seems like most battles not involving super grindy builds by super grindy factions end before the ~9:40 that the cap being controlled by one side from start to end uninterrupted runs out (and of course in those matchups the point will probably change control or even start out contested).
He is actually really good while still being balanced because of the roster he is in

You gotta admit, vick was amazing to watch, if he kept his nose clean and stayed healthy hed have been hof for sure. Had a cannon and legs, what more can you really ask for?

With the recent news CA has given us with there future ideas on updates, I really hope they go back and edit the demon princes abit. I think each one should have multiple weapon choices for MP, and for campaign I think you should be able to choose your weapon type. It’s not like it’s in the game already and it’s not like it’s hugely impactful and takes much away from Daniel, all it does is make your demon princess feel abit more unique for campaign and more versatile for MP. If they really wanted to they can do this in the same update as the cults rework, not like they aren’t connected at all being chaos related.
Or to be even more out there they could just let you completely have free customisation over your campaign demon princes for there respected faction. Again it Dosent take much away from Daniel since he gets ALL of the upgrades, and you can still feel the satisfaction off building your own demon Prince. Would be pretty easy to do aswell, just replace normal magic items with demon prince parts. It’s easy it’s fun it adds replay ability and no matter what it would be a positive for CA.

I've been thinking, wouldn't Saurus spears be better in match ups like this? They would be inferior to chopping up marauders but especially in a comp like this they're not really the main damage dealers anyway so they'd be layering in some good anti large power to help protect your front line from crumbling to other large targets.

I've been playing this matchup in Dom mode, except instead of Karanak I've been bringing an Exalted Bloodthirster and a Bloodthirster combo. Watching Mazdamundi try to run away from TWO bloodthirsters is hilarious.

Karanak feels like he does way too much. A super fast and mobile legendary hero that has like 4 passives and insane synergy is pretty crazy and it seems very power creepy.
I also hate the silence mechanic overall. It feels really bs not being able to use your stuff
Release a dlc, make the lords/factions op, nerf it to the ground a few months later, repeat and profit.

This is bad design imo, hard counters kinda ruin pvp because there’s no counter play
he can be countered, small hp pool and certainly cant push through cav or monstrous infantry. So you can bog him down and beat him up good. but i was able to eliminate the threats to him first by taking out the Kroxigors and cav, and only diving the backline in the late stages of the battle once they were dealt with. Karanak IS very good though, he can be quite scary when used well

I see now that I don’t like your battles as even you turn even domination battles into land battles. I like seeing an army using sneaky-sneaky to get the third point and battle furiously over the first while trying to send some forces onto that one as well….
