    I ride in QC Canada and that vid reminded me of all I did when I started and still do wrong lol. The other day I went fat biking in a really hard uphill mountain trail with 1 single snowmobile trail in 3ft of snow and I can tell you it was quite the workout and that next time I’m riding it the other way

    Starting uphill from stopped position in snow can be challenging. A drop post is ideal. I don't like dropping the seat lower like he suggests because a full stroke is not possible and therefore its harder on the legs. Doing a short track stand if you have one before you peddle will help.

    Totally agree with Bob B. below. Just got my gravity fat bike from bikes direct, and I’m tearing up the local landscape down here in Texas. Goes over everything and damn near impossible to fall, have the back tire slide out, or any other common 2.5” tire bike-problem. I’m only mad I didn’t know beforehand, and I could’ve saved myself the $400 and not bought the GT Aggresor that was way off the mark for the kind of riding I do. Road, field, bumps, vacant lots, broken gravel, etc. I love it!

      Rad! We've found that those who prefer riding a fat bike over standard MTB are a small minority, and that for most people in our parts a standard mountain bike is better for mountain bike-related stuff.
      But we're glad your fat bike is working out for ya! Have fun on the trails, maybe we'll see ya out there

    With all due respect you need to stop focusing on fat bikes is only a small no winter bike. I use my fat bike to ride the southern California desert. It helps me move over deep sand and rocks at speed and have a great work out where other mountain bikes would fall short. Try to educate people that fat bikes aren’t just for snow!

    Dropper seat post!

    • @ContenderBicycles
      @ContenderBicycles  Před 3 lety

      Agreed. We find that the dropper helps in ability to put a foot down at a moment's notice more than for more technical terrain, but it is still helpful.

    Great video and thanks! I have one question concerning lowering ones saddle. By lowering your saddle, will that inturn effect, put stress, on the knees? Thanks!

    • @andrewyankee9862
      @andrewyankee9862 Před 3 lety

      Enzo T yes as you lower the seat you lose pedaling efficiency therefore forcing you to use more effort and stress your knees

    • @andrewyankee9862
      @andrewyankee9862 Před 3 lety +1

      only lowering a couple inches wouldnt hurt

    So , what pressure do you ride at? Low is a little vague.

    • @ContenderBicycles
      @ContenderBicycles  Před 4 lety

      Hi Chris, depending on snow conditions we have riders running their tires as low as 3 psi, others prefer a little firmer tire anywhere from 6-9 psi.

    Any thoughts on 4 v 5 inch? Many thanks.

    • @ContenderBicycles
      @ContenderBicycles  Před 3 lety

      really dependent on you terrain really. For more of the groomed and packed stuff we tend to see here, 4 inches is plenty and going wider can feel draggy. But if you're doing a bit more exploring then 4.8" or 5" is likely the way to go.

      A lot of adults need to be told how to fit their kid’s helmets. To cover the forehead (where the injury will be)and not down the back of the head.

      Milhouse 329 there is a type of helmet out now that you cannot misfit. Nutcase helmets. They are wonderful! Best on the market.

    Definitely rigged on the front end, unless you're running a mid drive an $800 Manitou fork is going to work against you in multiple ways.
