Modern | Frogue + Murktide = I wouldn't say BUSTED, but like pretty good, I guess.

    At 36:18 I think I would have fetch-shocked, allows you to play DS as a 5/5 which makes it dodge bolt and turn on Stub for Static Prison, only downside is if they draw a land and go Prison > Moon

    • @maxfawcett143
      @maxfawcett143 Před 22 dny

      And even then you still have island in hand

    • @thecntrlfreak1347
      @thecntrlfreak1347  Před 21 dnem

      I think that downside is too big of a risk. Like if you don't fetch and shock, you hold up counterspell for a turn and bolt/prison don't matter, plus you set up to play through blood moon if you choose. If they do have the 4th land for prison + moon, you just lose on the spot because now you're 3 life lower against a raptor and a bolt, and your only play is a preordain that can't cast anything after. You can't attack in with Shadow because block + bolt kills it, and you risk them just taking it and hitting you back because you're not killing them in 2 swings.

    The deck feel a little bit muddled without baubles and wraiths. Waiting 3 or 4 turns for a threat is not ideal.
    Goyfs give recursion too, this is extremely important when we have only 11/12 threats

    I honestly never want frogs until I’m being hit with them and my opponent is drawing cards. After experimentation i might go back to your original taimyo list

    Love the videos - question on czcams.com/video/w4L-ava1UxE/video.html you mention needing a Deluge but don't crack the fetch EOT to thin the deck. I am working on trying not to crack as soon as possible for Revolt considerations, but Fatal Push was a blank in your hand at that point anyway. Keep up the Shadow work!

    • @thecntrlfreak1347
      @thecntrlfreak1347  Před 21 dnem +1

      I'll have to double check the game, but a lot of the times the life loss isn't worth the deck thinning in matchups that you need to find a deluge.

    Have you ever thought about any number of Plunge into Darkness, its fun in the mono black shadow lists and it may be a way to dig to better answers. Also a good "oh shit" button to gain some life.

    • @thecntrlfreak1347
      @thecntrlfreak1347  Před 23 dny

      So I played a rakdos shadow list a while back with plunge and it was a blast. It's a cool card, but it's another one of those "random" pieces that looks really good when it hits and really awful when it doesn't.

      @@thecntrlfreak1347 I can see the swingy-ness. I have been looking at it in maybe a sorin build. If you have a lot of creatures and can sack them all to plunge, I could 1 shot someone with the new flip walker.

      It does, but it's absolutely horrible if you don't have the frog with it. And my luck is such that two card combos are basically nonexistent :(

    Do you think running Nethergoyf and Murktide is a non-bo. The more I think about it, I feel like Nethergoyf is a great early threat, then delving into a big Murktide is fine because late game you can just fly over and use a 1/2, 2/3 goyf to just chump block. I don't know I am just spit balling haven't tried yet.

    • @johndonovan2743

      It does indeed feel like that would work great in terms of mana curve etc, probably needs some testing to find out.
      Definitely would need to bring in baubles and maybe wraiths too though.
      I did like the one inquisition, not sure what would need to be cut though.

    Hey [Friend's Name],
    I have to say, your dedication to mastering Magic: The Gathering is seriously impressive! Sure, there have been a few stumbles along the way (I mean, who hasn't accidentally cast a spell on the wrong target, right?), but every mistake is just another step toward greatness.
    Remember, even the greatest Planeswalkers started somewhere. So keep summoning those creatures, casting those spells, and maybe-just maybe-double-check before you tap all your lands. 😄
    You're doing awesome, and I can't wait to see you crush it in our next game!
    Cheers,
    [Your Name]
