    The scene with her looking back at the gym before leaving is one of the many moments to make me start bawling. Turning the chapter in your life is something that everyone can relate to. Seeing this so well portrayed in only two episodes is a huge testament to Haikyuu's ability at writing characters. Great analysis, it's nice hearing someone talk about this character

    I've watched like a million videos that talk about why haikyuu is so good, and very few even mention the extremely strong characters, even though that's probably my favorite aspect of it. These videos were really interesting. I don't really look much into why I like a character so much so it's interesting to see how it's done!

    It might be silly, but it's refreshing to have a female do some great analysis of sports-anime, and give some of the female characters there some love and attention.

      I’m so glad you feel that way!! I started my channel for that exact reason-I wanted there be a female anime youtuber who talked about sports shows with an eye toward the female characters and your comment (on this and my other videos) makes me so happy! Honestly I’m grinning so much right now. Thank you very much for watching and commenting!

    Johzenji was a great foil to Karasuno. They only try new things but have fundamentals where Karasuno just spend a whole camp learning new things but do have fundamentals. Add to that Karasuno still has Daichi Asahi and Suga whereas Johzenji only has Misaki.

    I actually cried over that last flashback. I was overwhelmed by the idea of her passing the baton to the next manager who was, like her and Yachi, still nervous about her new role when they started. 💔

  • @aasl25
    @aasl25 Před 7 lety +35

    This video actually made me cry :(( The beautiful characterization that they had given to Misaki in just two episodes is just indescribable! (although you explained it very well haha) It reminded me of that scene in Ep 16 of Season 1 where after losing, Michimiya from the girls' team and Ikejiri from Tokonami talk about their frustrations on losing. That part where Ikejiri actually mentioned that if they all were in a movie, the losers (Tokonami, girls' team and other minor teams) would only play extras while the winners would play the lead roles, is pure beauty, and in the end he and Michimiya resolve that they were happy that they at least got to play vball. That part there, the fact that he said about what their roles would be in a movie, was so emotional and heartfelt because it was probably what we also thought of them in the anime no doubt, but the fact that he said that, gives you an deeper insight to them in a short scene, and in the end, wish that they did not have to lose, and also end up rooting for them, no matter how minor their characters are. I wish I could've explained it better, but thoughts are pouring all over from my mind. I hope you got the point though. Thank you so much for making this, I'm very eager to see how they would introduce and develop Shiratorizawa's team in October.

    • @LadyIneia
      @LadyIneia  Před 7 lety +6

      Oh my goodness, I am so glad you liked it! I'm sorry to make you cry though D:
      I completely agree with you, and get what you're saying. That scene with Ikejiri and Michimiya is simply incredible, and it's one of the reasons I would put Haikyuu!! above other sports shows: the focus on how everyone, even the losers and the characters we see for the briefest of moments, has a story; they have a story independent of the main cast and independent of this tournament. They're people too, and the fact the viewer understands how these people have their own lives makes them human and compelling. You always want Karasuno to win, of course, but it's difficult to root against any teams they face because these minor characters seem like they have as much personality and character as the main cast, it's just the particular story we're following happens to focus on Karasuno so we don't get the full picture. Even if they aren't as developed, Haikyuu!! always presents them with the potential to be fully developed, the sense that they want to win and have struggled too. Really makes Haikyuu!! resonate on another level with people, because of these characters that are consistently compelling.
      I'm looking forward to season three too! It will be interesting to see how they characterize Shiratorizawa and make us like them.
      Thank you for watching and such a thoughtful comment!

      What another beautiful explanation! I really think you should put that in a part 3 video!! :D Thank you so much again for the vids, it gets me even more hyped for Season 3 (heavy breathing) Btw, will you watch every episode per week or binge it at the end? Cause that's my dilemma right now :((
      PS: I really think you should do reaction videos when next season comes, considering how awesome you are when it comes to analysis :D

    • @LadyIneia
      @LadyIneia  Před 7 lety +1

      Doing a part 3 would be cool, but for now I think I'm going to keep it as is with 2 parts. Maybe if I felt really inspired I'd do a part 3, but not anytime soon.
      I'll be watching it week by week. Haikyuu!! is pretty good at having every episode be complete enough with a beginning, middle, and end to make week by week watching exciting and fulfilling. I'm also way too impatient to wait for the whole thing to be done and then binge.
      I may do some sort of analysis or reaction for the first few episodes once they're out, or one when it wraps up! I'll have to see if I feel I have enough material to make a good analysis (knowing Haikyuu!! I probably will :P). If I do do one, I hope you'll enjoy it! c:

    A good combination or midpoint between both parts would probably be Aone from Date Tech. He's a glaring foil for Hinata in many physical and mental aspects: he's as big as Ushijima, completely silent, never fights with his teammates, plays as more of a defensive than offensive force, and is a terrifying threat for Karasuno -- especially their ace. But he also shares Hinata's dedication to the sport and is a surprisingly friendly person, along with both being middle blockers and essentially the symbols of their teams' respective concepts.
    You don't see him very much in the series, and hearing him speak is rarer still, but you can tell that Aone does become surprisingly close to Hinata after they play against one another. This strange friendship is openly acknowledged during the Johzenji match by a couple of Date Tech's other players: Futakuchi, Obara, and Sakunami. It's also worth noting that Aone openly speaks -- this being one of the incredibly sparse instances in which he does so -- on Hinata's behalf, later also speaking directly to Hinata himself.
    This situation is implied to be similar to Hinata's bond with Kenma. After all, Hinata's friendly rivalries with both Kenma and Aone wind up directly and indirectly affecting his eventual relationships with Lev and Koganegawa, who both learn about him through their respective teammates. While one is a bit more competitive than the other, it's safe to say both relationships with Hinata are as positive as those with their upperclassmen.

    • @LadyIneia
      @LadyIneia  Před 3 lety +2

      I love Aone as a character! I think you’re totally right-he has obvious foils with Hinata but on a deeper level their passion for the sport is super similar. That’s a thing I love about the show as a whole, how you can find friendship with people who are not only your rivals but also are very different from you. It’s so lovely.

    • @shadowstar8619

      @@LadyIneia It really is, especially how some dynamics change over time after playing against various teams. One minute, you see Hinata scramble behind his teammates to hide from the giants. The next, you see him interacting with the tallest and most imposing guys in the series like they've been friends for years.

    would love to see your break down of some of the major characters, esp Oikawa who I personally think is the most fascinating character in the whole show and I love hearing other people's thoughts on him :D now that S3 is coming out soon S2 spoilers shouldn't be a big problem too

    • @LadyIneia
      @LadyIneia  Před 7 lety +5

      Oh man, dude, I'm with you. Oikawa is my favorite Haikyuu!! character hands down, and I think the best in the whole show. I actually have written a lot about him in attempts to analyze his character but because he is so layered and outstandingly written, it would take a long time to break him down. I'd also want to do him justice as I really just adore his entire arc, so the video would also be massive in length, but not going to lie, I hope I'll be able to do an analysis on him one day. He's just such a great character! Maybe after season 3 ends, I'll see if I'm up to the challenge. We'll see! (sorry I blabbered a bit! :D It's just I've literally thought about how I'd do an Oikawa analysis for a looong time!)

      Also +1 Oikawa is the best character in the show. I can totally understand why you say there are so much to say and it won't be easy to do him justice. He is full of complexities and contradictions I LOVE IT. I am really looking forward to your video on him~

    I agree! It was like this dawning realization when I noticed, hey this may be shounen but interestingly there's no "villain" in this anime! All of the characters are like the protagonist to some extent, it's unbelivable! It's amazing! The sense of being able to control this many characters and not ruin them.
    It's like the creator couldn't decide what type of team is the best as the main protagonist cause every time he revises he came up with more ideas and before he knew it, there's this whole groups of teams. Then he be like "eeny meeny" and it landed on Karasuno!🤣
    But it's such a shame to throw every thing away so he included everything in the story. It's truly amazing!

    Joining the choir of YES! Oikawa analysis please!
    Somehow I keep stumbling unto people who think he is a legit narcissist and just an asshole?! Like yes, there's a reason Iwaizumi expresses his love of Oikawa's personality through violence (cough), but he would be boring if that was all there is to him. I'd love your take on it, even (especially) if it's like an hour long or something.
    He kind of reminds me of a more-confident-in-the-heat-of-things, less sweet and modest version of Yuuri from YOI when I think on it. Like, I see a PIT of angst and psychological hang-ups in him, that he manages to hide better as he gets older. I'd argue Yuuri has a hidden pocket of confidence in his skills, showed especially in a moment between him and Yurio where he realizes that Yurio is underestimating him (that's part of the reason why I feel like I can compare Yuuri and Oiks). Yuuri has his self-assured moments too, he just hasn't learned to control his nerves when the curtain rises, whereas Oikawa rises to the occation, and is better at reading people. None of them are naturally the best, they practiced the shit out of their sport to master it.
    (and whereas Yuuri's 'natural performer'-contrast Victor is older, Oikawa's is Kageyama, the younger player he feels biting at his heels, which naturally leads to different dynamics between them. Where Victor has been on top so long he has almost lost interest, Kageyama is hungrily chasing Oikawa, and where Yuuri has almost given up but is still chasing medals/Victor, Oikawa is feeling the heat from the up-and-coming natural-genius and almost break himself attempting to keep the distance and outrun him. SIMULTANIOUS FOILS AND PARALLELS)
