  • A late winter walk along Guelph’s Kortright Woods Trail as it intersects Hanlon Creek. This 4 kilometre loop walk begins at the off-leash dog park and joins the Royal Recreational trail’s (RRT) 3.1 km Hanlon Creek Trail at Preservation Park, briefly exiting the woods at Kortright Road West before reentering the woods at Edinburgh Rd S to loop back to the start.
An October 1988 plaque at Preservation Park states: “This 27 hectare Park is dedicated to the citizens of Guelph to commemorate the first year of the City’s Recycling Program and the efforts of the volunteer members of Recycle Guelph. The Park represents the area of Canada’s forests preserved by recycling newsprint in one year of the blue Box Program. In addition to this Park and equivalent area of Monteverde Rain Forest in Costa Rica has been acquired to be preserved on behalf of the “Children of Guelph.” “Think globally, act locally”
