Instant potatoes make great thickener. Do it often.
Tastes great. Thanks.
Ingredients/Steps
1. Season with salt, pepper, garlic, onion, thyme
2. Saute chops ~ 4 minutes/side
3. Saute cup of onion and chopped mushrooms until soft and cooked
4. Add thyme, garlic, onion, pepper, salt
5. Cup of broth
6. Cup of coconut milk, I used heavy cream
7. Add pork chops on top
8. Pressure cook for 12 minutes, I did 17 minutes because I had 12 thin chops
9. Cook off sauce to thicken - used Xantham gum
I love that you wing it and are teaching us to do the same! I’m always tied to recipes, but want to “wing” it more!
Many thanks Nili for this simple and amazing recipe. We made it today and my family loved it. Looking forward to many more lovely recipes.
Thank you for an amazing recipe! I made this tonight and my family loved it!
Made this tonight as my first IP meal - turned out perfect and I don't typically like pork chops but these were really tender and not dry at all. The gravy was delicious! I used tapioca starch to thicken - about 1/4 c.
I made this last night and had the leftovers tonight - both to rave reviews. My husband told me he hated pork chops, but has now learned it's because he's only ever had dried out/overcooked ones.
I used bone-in chops that were about half the thickness of yours, cooked for 5 min then 5 min NR. Perfect!
+elliottchirps Wonderful! I love it when husbands get converted to new food! ❤
I love your videos. They have taught me a lot on how to use my instant pot. And I am still learning and following.
Going to try this tomorrow, looks fantastic
So, I had another meal planned for tonight, but life got in the way, and I ended up not having time to do what I wanted to. Enter Creamy Mushroom Porkchops: at 5:45 I started with frozen extra thick 1.5" chops, 3 russett potatoes and a half a bag of fresh green beans. by 7pm I had tender garlic green beans, mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy and THE MOST tender, juicy, succulently delicious pork chops I have ever had in my life..... let alone MADE myself Wow. Thank you So Much for the recipe!
I have to try this recipe!!!! It looks amazing.
I got my instant pot about a week ago and HAD to try this recipe. It was absolutely delicious!! I am on a low carb diet and this was a perfect meal for that. It will definitely be on my weekly rotation. Thank you for sharing.
Nili, You are an excellent teacher. Thank you. I'm on this learning curve before my pot arrives and especially appreciate you because you avoid processed foods. I can't wait to get Asian store coconut milk. Watching Renee and her growth is the icing on top.
This was lovely tasting, I also added cabbage, baby broccoli and spring onion to the saute mix :)
I bought a large pork loin from Costco a few months back per your example and a have a few chops left to try this tonight! Thanks for all your helpful tips!
Looks so good and simple! Thanks
I just made this. OMfreakinG!!!! Thank you for posting this recipe. To say that I LOVED it is an understatement. I made it with egg noodles - delicioso!!!
I really enjoy your cooking methods I have a Insta pot and I’m learning how to cook on the fly girl thank you for sharing
Had this for dinner tonight, yum, yum, yum I know it will become one of our regular meals.
I made this last night for our supper, loved it. I would suggest having this with egg noodles as the sauce it makes is rather plentiful and turned out more plentiful than we had porch chops! Having that sauce over top of the egg noodles would have been really a bit more of "heaven" to add to the equation. Thank you! I'm writing this recipe out and keeping it for my files.
I happened to have a can of coconut milk on hand, something rare in my kitchen, so used it. I have never actually cooked with it before. I had it to make coconut cupcakes I never got around to making and have lost the recipe, in fact. This was perfect to finally have a use for it. I really do feel that enhanced the flavors. I'd call it "company good", in fact. Not all recipes are company good.
I just made this dish and wow!! So good. I put less seasonings though but I did put coconut milk inside and wow it is flavorful and tender. Thanks!!
These are basically a staple now in my home! 😍
Just browned pork chop steaks, now ready to pressure cook for 15 mins. Only thing I didn't have was thyme. I've put a pan of potatoes and carrots sat on a trivet above the chops and now have my fingers crossed that it all cooks together. I've never used coconut milk in any of my cooking but since having my pressure cooker I've seen quite a few recipes using it. I'm 62 and I've spent thousands of hours cooking for my family and I had really lost 'my mojo' for cooking but since getting my pressure cooker I'm using it virtually ever night, I love it. Thanks Nilli, watching your tutorials I have learnt so much.
Kay Marl This is so sweet!
Looks great! I am still getting used to the instant pot. My mom bought it and hasn't cooked in it once...I am so happy for detailed videos like this! Definitely going to cook this tonight! 😋
Made this, excellent! Thank you.
I made this the other week and still can't believe how tasty the chops were. Great recipe...will be making again in the near future
I'm so glad you liked it!
Good goin lady! Wild mushroom season is about to happen here in nor Cal and I'm for sure gonna knock this out.
Love my instant pot
Looks good. Cant wait to give it a try.
Thank you so much for your video's!! I am new to the instant pot game. I get home from work before my wife so she is super happy when I have dinner on the table when she gets home. Racking up those brownie points!!
+Jason Thomas I like how you think! Great job! Your wife is a lucky woman!
Thank you. I will inform her of that. lol
Jason Thomas I
Looks delicious. I’m making this tonight. Thank ypu
This looks divine.
Wow! We loved this over rice! Didn't change a thing. Thank you so much! We have only had the IP for less than a week, this was our second recipe. You made it so easy, thank you!!
+Brenda K So glad you liked it! It's been too long since I've made it so it's going on my meal plan for next week! 🙂
Thank you. I learn more from you than from books and manuals, and my method of cooking has always bee “winging it”
I have to try making the pork chops in gravy like you made your's and the ones you cooked is looking great and I have to try making them in the Instant Pot since I normally cook them in a skillet.
Great demo!
Totally trying this as my first IP receive tonight.
Great video! Although I don't use coconut milk and the googooman thickener you used I am Thankful for your video as it has inspired me to use my regular ingredients including a cornstarch slurry for a thickener to make this very savory dish!!! You Rock, "Instant Pot Goddess"!!! Thanks and God Bless You and Yours!!!
You weren't kidding about the price for coconut milk on Amazon! Thanks so much for sharing!
Looks delicious! Thanks for the step by step IP directions! We are THM and IP lovers...
+Pat Baker That's great! 2 things I love very dearly! ;) lol!
Made this for dinner; super YUMMY!! Thanks
That looks like a real nice dish, and I have to think about cooking it.
You have great recipes for the PC. You should come up with a recipe book! Thanks for sharing your videos!
This looks great.
Did you increase the sauce mixture when you did the 8 pork chops? Just wanted to check so I don't mess it up! Excited to try this! Love my NEW instapot!
These look wonderful. I know what's going on my grocery list!!! thanks!
I just made these tonight and they were AWESOME! Thanks for developing such a wonderful way to serve pork chops!
Looks good!
Super GR8 video and recipe!! I plan to try it out in my Instant Pot with traditional ingredients, I can't go the coconut and guauagieaue or whatever powder!! I must say that your family is extremely lucky to have you because is shows that you really love them and you always do your very best to take care of them!!! God Bless You!!!!!
Aww... Thanks!
I tried your recipe and loved it! I was afraid to use the coconut milk though for fear it would taste too coconutty but yea, it was great! Thanks 😄
4:10 I love the ethnic markets! Avoiding Walmart today or the major chain grocery stores I stopped into a local Mexican market and spent $5.02 plus a couple dollars of items at home to make a huge pot odds black eyed pea soup
Arrow root powder thickens it very quick and adds no flavor, LOVE this recipe
Thank you!
+zhinka Yes! Arrowroot would work great in this recipe. Thanks! 😊
Sounds yummy!!! You could also add sour cream for a thickener, and a little different taste!!! 💕
thank you! I will be doing this soon!
By the way, I love that you are starting with bacon fat. I grew up watching the cooks in my family saving it to use later, and now I have my mason jars in the fridge doing the same! :)
+Becca I also watched my mom and grandma save bacon fat and meat drippings to cook with. It turns out it's more healthy than the artificial fats (shortening and margarine) and boy does it taste better too!
I am Southern Born and Southern Bred and bacon grease has always been a part of my diet. David Venable the QVC show host (from Charlotte, NC) said "on air" the other day that he considers bacon grease as an "essential oil"! Yep, my sentiments exactly!!!
Made for first time my wife and I both love it, will be my go to recipe in the future. Enjoy so much had a bake tenderloin in fridge leftover decided to cook up the same manor otherwise would have gotten thrown out.
So glad you liked it!
I like your little tea pot/pitcher? With the cherry blossom on it. I do alot of winging it for cooking. But watching the videos give me ideas top add to our take from.
Instead of coconut milk I use Cream of Mushroom soup :)
I like to add chopped red skin potatoes in as well.
Yum!
do you add water or broth??
@@robertedson2374 I used some chicken broth. Sorry, I never get notifications on here for most replies to my comments.
my first thought exactly. Asian grocers are distant from me.
Looks yummy! :) Excited to try this! :)
TT.Scraps
You can sub the pork chops for chicken thighs (or breast) in this exact recipe. I have cooked this meal in my pressure cooker for over 40 years. It's a family favorite! Thanks
Yum! I need to try that!
I won't find a Asian market in Westport NY area. I like that brand of coconut milk too which I could find when I lived in Eastern Washington. Finding ingredients familiar with using is challenging now that I'm living on the East coast in a rural area. Thanks for sharing your concoction, I'm sure it was delicious!
I wanted to buy one, kinda concern on the pressure spout...tips on that please. Thanks
Made this tonight! Outstanding! Thanks for sharing
+Barbara Rickert Wonderful! So glad you liked it!
looks great! do the pork chops come out fall apart tender? I've had trouble getting the right time on chops and they're coming out tough.
I added bourbon and mushroom soup with portabella mushrooms 😋
I take instant rice put in my grinder turn in to powder add a couple of table spoons . I have a jar made a head so when I need it it is ready
Making it right now I’ll let ya know thanks
Thank you!
I made this tonight. I used half and half, which curdled. I thought it was totally ruined! However, it was absolutely delicious! But heavy cream does not curdle, so use it instead.
I add that stuff after everythings cooked and vented then I put on Saute and add it later so it won't curdle.
she said "go ahead " so many times that I decided to cut it short and go to the next video. wow.
I have an instapot. Just got it and I like it.
Question... Can I use thicker liquids/sauces? Or do they need to be "watery"
ie: Could I put stew meat in and smother it in BBQ sauce from a jar?
Pork chops in cream of mushroom soup?
Could I put raw rice, water and other ingredients all in at once and cook? Or is it best to cook each ingredient and then combine?
did you put any olive oil in the pot before you put in the chops?
After the 12 minutes, how long did you let it depressurize? And what kind of broth if I don't use your homemade kind.
what about adding cream cheese to thicken? do you think it would work?
On my to do cook list ..newbie here and in UK
This looks delicious! I love your videos :-)
+Emily Taylor Thanks, Emily! 😊❤
Yummm brown is good!!!
can you tell me which video has the details for kaluah pork?
Yummy!! I cook just like you do! Garlic and onion powders pepper, some recipes smoked paprika. I also have always winged it with most things I cook. I love cookbooks and have lots but I rarely follow a recipe. I just get alot of ideas. Except baking....I mostly follow recipes for that. Thanks for sharing!!
I am the same way with (non-baking) recipes! They're just there for ideas. lol!
Indigo Nili
Thanks for you link to your frozen sandwiches! Going to Walmart today and praying they still have the 6 qt. Insta pots for 59.00! I'm getting one for sure if they have them. They were a middle isle display for probably 3 weeks before Thanksgiving......❤❤❤
Thank you
Great recipe 👍🏼💕🦋
what was the texture like on the pork? My pork chops come out too dry.
Made it a few days ago following your recipe to the letter...absolutely yummy. Just wondering if it'll be the same seasoning/ timing if I substitute the pork with beef? Thanks for showing us this simply delicious recipe.
Yes, if the pieces of chicken or beef are the same size as the park chops then the cook time should remain the same. So glad you liked it! 😁
Hi neighbor! I am just across the Columbia river from you! Thanks for the video!
did u use the meat setting
I use the thin sliced pork chops. Would you still cook for 12 mins? Also, with the runny sauce can you add rice in the beginning and cook with the pork chops?
Yummy !!
I don't cook pork chops often as I hate them dried out. Do these stay moist, or does the pressure cooker just kill them? Thanks!
WOW I just found you on CZcams. I have an Instant Pot that scares me half to death. I'm going to give this a go. Thank you!
Another way you could try this is with cream of mushroom soup for the liquid.
I just made this and I used half and half about a 1/2 cup I wasn't making as much. I also used 1 cup chicken broth. However I found it was not smooth on the sauce it was kind of like the half and half curdled. Did you know why?
Looks really good. How did you know 12 min was enough to properly cook the meat. ?
Great video, just a question please on pot in pot. -
If I followed your recipe could I put chops and all ingredients in the IP with my required gravy and then put additional water in a separate cup, in the middle of the pot JUST for pressurizing I cooked mince and the liquid took me ages to reduce which took me longer than cooking it in a saucepan on the stove. Any suggestions would be appreciated. (Novice in the use of I.P and can't wait to get familiar with it).
Once again thanks for your obvious knowledge.
Frizzy. xx
No, unfortunately the liquid needed for pressurizing needs to be in the bottom of the pot/liner in order to work. I will mention though that meat releases a lot of natural juices so you don't have to add much liquid in order to have enough to build up pressure. Usually half a cup of liquid is enough. Hope that helps!
Look's good, the only thing I have to do is purrea the gravy because my husband won't eat the onions or mushrooms, so I have the liquid thing that make's everything look like gravy, and I will still have the flavor. this is really a keeper, thank's Nicky
Sounds like my husband!
I'm probably missing it, but do you have this recipe typed up somewhere on here. lol, trying to be quick before I run to store.
sorry not great with my computer so where do I find the recipe?
I thought you couldn't put milk products in a pressure cooker? It always clumps for me. Any info anyone?
How do you make the stock.
we do something similar but use a can of cream of mushroom soup and ad enough ketchup to turn the soup pinkish serve with cheese minute rice..
I just made this except with chicken breasts. It's delicious!
Any reason why you didn't use cream or mushroom soup? Also Hispanic markets are a great resource for coconut milk too.
Hi Nili! I made this in my IP last night and it was wonderful. The meat was so moist and tender. I used half n half instead of coconut milk and the liquid/sauce curdled! What did I do wrong?
+Rheanne Clark Dairy products should be added at the end of the cooking time to avoid curdling. 😊
This looks so good, however I can't eat mushrooms. What would you use to substitute for the mushrooms?
Hi Meg. I'd either just leave them out or look for a different pork chop recipe since mushrooms are a main ingredient. :)
