Hope ya'll enjoy this one as much as I did. I'm so glad to finally have a chance to give pathfinder a try!
Hey all, looking forward to this experience!
Like the run through of Pathfinder. D&D 5e refugee here trying to learn, thanks!
Thanks! I hope you enjoy the short series! On another note: if you’re interested in pathfinder and willing to drop $5-$25, the humble bundle currently has a nice big bundle of 2e PDFs that can help jumpstart you into trying it out. I believe it even has the beginner box in the bundle.
Awwwwesssooommmeeee!!!! Embarking on this one with a big bowl of popcorns
Extra butter!
Nice video, I would also mention that initiative can use any skill, not just stealth and perception. For instance, if you are attempting to use deception to conceal a knife behind your back and a fight breaks out, you would use deception for initiative. The thought process behind it is, can the enemy perceive your attempt to deceive them before you get a chance to act? If their perception ends up higher, they go first, otherwise your deception is successful and you get to act first.
Yes, this is something I really like about Pathfinder 2e so far!
Thank you so much for this series! I’m running the beginner box for some friends who have never played an RPG before, while I’ve never played pathfinder or GMd (the 1 GURPS session 10 years ago shouldn’t count) and this was really helpful for me to know what I’m getting into
Tommy so sad face when the spider is cut in half, and he couldnt poison no one ahaha
It broke my heart lol
Same thing happened when I ran this for my DnD group. The spider only has like 6hp, and it rolled so low on initiative that it didn't even get a go before it died.

I'm starting to move my group from 5e to PF2e and I've been looking for an engaging group to watch to get my head around the system and getting ready to run it.
Haven't actually seen any of your 5e content and starting with PF2e funnily enough, loving it so far! Excited to see more!
More Pathfinder please!
Happy to see Swindlers Den trying some CZcams Premiere! Hoping to see more here in the future!
It seemed to do well so it is likely!
You always do a great job lortOmis
Tommie says thank you!!!!
Thank you very much!
OMG I'm so excited! Thank you so much guys for doing this!!! Especially thanks to Tommie as I'm looking into expanding into PF2e and could use a teacher. From what I've seen so far, PF2e is vastly superior to 5e and I'm totally hyped for this!
Hey no problemo! the group is so excited for our next session!
I’ll try my best to make it an enjoyable experience!
@@tommietaco57 Btw, you can cast spells while holding things, shields or even weapons. The 'somatic' component simply means that the spell has the 'manipulate' trait, meaning it can trigger attacks of opportunity :) Also, you can set distance measurement in Roll20 on the settings of the page you're on. Under 'Grid' there's 'scale' and 'measurement', just set it to Pathfinder.
@@20catsRPG I discovered those settings over the weekend 😅 I’m so used to foundry auto doing it that I didn’t look very far in roll20 settings. Also, thank you for clarifying that. I reread after the second session and from what I’m seeing, it’s material spells that will require you to have a freehand. Spells requiring a focus also require you to have your focus out but I also see no reason to enforce that as the player could have it attacked to them or their weapon.
@@tommietaco57 The show is going splendidly, well done and good job! One question I have, are you allowing the free multiclass rule? To give the PCs more options and dimension?
12:00 ROFL!!!!! I'm gonna love this character!!!
im only about 20 mins in but hopefully we can see the rolls etc maybe past it where the beginner box graphix are
unfortunately not for this series. we rolled physical dice instead of using an online roller. But maybe in future games of pathfinder!
My group just finished the campaign and I have to say that I’m really proud of how we did, because we were really clever with how we played.
Spoilers:
So it turns out that we had 2 players in our campaign that spoke spider and kobold, which allowed us to get through the first few problems with diplomacy, we scared the kobold away and bribed the spider with bodies of ppl we killed. Im proud because I was the one that figured out the coin puzzle. My companion had the genius idea to lock the kobolds in the room with the mermaid statue so it just keeps damaging them. And for the cinder rat we got a lot of cloth wet and basically wrapped it around him and bear hugged him to do water damage, the dm let us use a d12 for damage for being clever.
Much smarter than our group haha promising the spider the bodies is awesome
Holy shit I’ve never thought of that!
Spiders have a language?!
@@JacksonOwex one of our players was able to turn into a spider to speak their language. It took a lot of bribing but it worked.
In our new campaign I did the same with a gargoyle that I hired to guard the run down castle I owned because there was a chest randomly in the courtyard that nobody would touch since they figured it was trapped. Me, being the brave hero, opened the chest to find the deed and a bunch of jewels including a ring signifying the owner of the land lol.
Which Foundry VTT Modules are used for the PathFinder 2e streams?
Thank you for providing a solid Introduction for both systems: PF2e & FoundryVTT.
So this is being played on roll20 but I highly recommend FoundryVTT and in future pathfinder plays, foundry will most likely the be program that is used.
@@tommietaco57 I'd suggest looking into Fantasy Grounds Unity... everything within FGU is fully automated, so when trying to get the players to roll initiative, for example, there is a spot on the character sheet for it and they would have just clicked that to roll the die and their perception initiative would have rolled, bonuses included.
@@Zerbious Foundry is the same, tons of automation on things.
@@Zerbious so I actually used to play pathfinder on fantasy grounds Unity and ended up switching to foundry for the extra flair and awesome automations that were being added. My list of best vvts for pathfinder imo are FoundryVTT, fantasy grounds Unity, roll20.
Okay so I heard you mention roll20. So that answers that part of the question
Yes for now it’s roll20 but I believe future pathfinder games will use FoundryVTT as its AWESOME for pathfinder
I have a question about the melee strike aka bite with the rat. You only use the d20?
So if I’m understanding the question correctly, yes like all melee and ranged attack rolls you would use the d20 for the bite which is a melee attack and then add or subtract any modifiers to that roll. Then if you hit you would roll a d6 for damage plus or minus any modifiers to that.
Side note: I can’t remember if it happened this session since I know the beginner box slightly modified some monsters, but these rats normally also carry disease so if they successfully bite your player, the player would also need to roll a d20 for their fortitude saving throw and contract the disease if they fail.
@@meyore I figured out it. I was stupid. The jaws for the rat +7 is that you roll d20 then plus 7. The jaws help you reach the characters AC
Is this using roll20 vtt? Also why can't we see the rolls? Like the information text area? Just curious
Yep! We’re rolling physical dice, so no need to see the chat box
@@SwindlersDen LOL. I guess that makes total sense.
Does the combat feel long? It felt long for 3 rats lol it’s my first time listening to anything pathfinder.
I guess it could be long because of explaining all the rules which is great for the first time players/listeners. Definitely keep doing that. I appreciate it. I was just genuinely curious if battles take longer then dnd 5e
@@thomasshark217 they definitely can take longer but it is all based on how quickly players decide their actions in advance and have a solid understanding of the rules. Hopefully the more we play, the fast the combat will flow
It can take a while when you're still learning, but even with that this is still excessively slow.

A cowboy accent?....just doesn't fit the dark-agey feel that fantasy is mostly based on.
Hey y'all it's a pretty good show. I just want to make you aware, and you can ignore me or fact check me as you please, but saying, "boy," like you were is actually a derogatory and racist term used when referring to black people. It also does not help that you're using a southern accent... I'm not necessarily offended, but I do know people of color who have been hurt by that term.
I can understand this, being from louisiana, I have learned that this can be the case. However when growing up, all of us referred to each other as boy, because we were boys. I didn’t learn until much later that boy was a racial term towards black/african American men. Why did I not know this? Because I was never taught to be racist. When I hear “boy” I think of guys. Dudes. Not to be rude, but that’s not why he was doing it. It’s mostly likely because he has heard me say it in conversation, and, believe it or not, I have a hard accent when not recording or if I’ve been drinking.
He did not mean it in this way. It’s easy to tell he didn’t mean it this way. Anyone who takes it this way, then I’m sorry.
