IANAL but Federal judges can't be removed, they can only be impeached by the US Congress. Since 1803, only fourteen judges have been removed. She's not going anywhere unfortunately.

She has done much on paperless decisions, so there is not much written “proof” that she is slow-walking this trial. He is waiting for something to occur that would stand up to the 11th Circuit’s scrutiny for her removal. She has been very careful to color just inside the lines so far…
I dunno. The documents are easier to prove, I think. And it should carry more time at sentencing. I'm sure Jack Smith and his team are prepared for both, but I'm sure he has more evidence than we know, as well.

Both charges are serious enough for him to be put behind bars, so I expect Jack Smith will take whichever trial he can get.

If a judge hasn’t recused themselves and found later to be in the pocket of a defendant, they should absolutely 100% lose their position, but also face severe legal repercussions to discourage future judges from doing such things. Can you say corruption?

Yes, but it would give fodder to Republicans. It's unfortunate that a decision would be made with that in mind but these are the times in which we live.
Smith is a very reasoned and rational person from what I have read. He knows if he tries to kick Cannon off the case he will only get one chance. IMO he will wait until she makes a mistake that locks up his case against her before trying to have her removed. Of course, this assumes she makes that mistake.
I wonder if Jack Smith prefers to have a judge he knows is completely out of her league in trying to get Trump off the hook . She's helping Mr Smith in the long run with her ineptitude.

Special prosecutor, Jack Smith needs to get Judge Cannon recused. He has plenty of reasons that the appellate court would grant that.
She has NO intention of following a verdict of guilty with a sentence. She is an embarrassment to the Justice system. Her qualification should have been denied immediately since the defendant just gave her the position. If THAT is not corrupt, I don't know what would be.
The Supreme Court needs to do the right thing and make it a no stay.

If SCOTUS doesn't lift the stay how will that affect the outlook of highly professional dedicated judges in America? Will they feel a sense of betrayal that will erode their faith in the justice system?
The only statement I would make is that there have been some excellent Supreme Court Justices in the history of the USA. Currently I would only go so far as to say that SCOTUS stands for the "Supremely Corrupt of the United States"...nobody exceeds their level of corruption, they hold the record.
Every time reasonable people think that "they can't be so corrupt, so traitorous or so treasonous to do that", every time, they have.
Non-legal person here and I just want to thank Glenn for breaking down these legal concepts so clearly, succinctly, and understandably. I follow other sites and they can get too bogged down in the legalese and I’m quickly lost in the weeds. Glenn always breaks it down wonderfully.
It's hardly to say if Judge Cannon's corruption or her incompetent is worse, but I'm pretty sure she was guided by more competent lawyers who showed her a way to block the calendar. She has actually made many paperless orders, many more than usual, none of these decisions are appealable. Jack Smith can only appeal her written orders. In her last order, she made the mistake of filing a written order that will jeopardize DOJ witnesses. Now Jack Smith is just one step away from appealing to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals to throw Judge Cannon off the case.
Why is there even a consideration to put this man Trump on the ballet with all those pending charges on him. Good God are we looking at the same things? If anything remove him, try him, then decide.

I particularly appreciate his explanation of the relative importance of the January 6 / DC case relative to the Florida "documents" case. I now see how having Judge Cannon delay her case is a WIN for those of us who want justice, and a big loss for the orange gangster ex-president.
What these judges should do is get these cases through as quickly as possible, so the public can make up their own view on Trump.
The most important thing to do is to vote him out so then he will have to face all the trials and there will be no reason for anyone to listen to his tiring dribble.
