  • 2 MONTHS OLD Macroalgae Ecosystem Bowl Planted Saltwater Reef (No Filter, No Ferts, No Water Change)
In this video I discuss the pico ecosystem macroalgae saltwater planted bowl I setup last March. I used black aquarium sand, live rock pieces from my existing systems and macroalgae I already have. I won't add any fish etc into this bowl as it it too small, however invertebrates such as copepods and a couple of dove snails will help to keep it clean. I also will not be doing water changes, adding fertilisers or using a filter and heater. There are absolutly no leopards in this aquarium as well which is a major breakthrough in fish keeping.

Thanks for the update! This is so cool! I want to do a similar experiment in a larger tank; your videos on creating saltwater ecosystems have given me lots of food for thought

That's awesome! Here's me trying to shut down the 3rd overspill tank and stick to just 2.... then you showing us cool marine ecosystem bowls one for the future maybe!

Thanks. It's only a few litres and I do absolutely nothing to it, so no bother really 😁

Would you consider adding Xenia for some tiny flow?

Would you still recommend caulerpa for such a system? I've been planning to build something like this for a while now and I'm afraid it's going sexual. I was thinking of just using Ulva and Chaeto. You got an awesome setup, I love it. 😊
