Cherokee Days 2016 - Traditional Dances 1

  • Tsa-La-Gi Touring Group from Cherokee North Carolina perform traditional social dances. In this performance they begin with a performance of the Corn Dance. Next they invite members of the audience to join them in a performance of the Bear Dance and the Ant Dance. After the Tsa-La-Gi dances, members of the Cherokee Nation perform the Stomp Dance. Jarrett Grey Wildcatt explains the dances and drums and sings for the performers. On the third stomp dance the public is invited to join in. After the last stomp dance, the Tsa-La-Gi dancers return to do a performance of the Friendship Dance with members of the audience. The performance was webcast and recorded in the Potomac Atrium of the National Museum of the American Indian on June 10, 2016.
