An exceptional example of the shuffle rhythm and the call and reponse that is at the base of jazz. Something that should make us think about the intervention of the North American Indians in this way of music.

I'm not sure if the rule applies to all grounds, but where I'm from (Gar Creek Grounds) it's strictly prohibited to record audio or video of anything that has to do with the dance and songs. I'm happy to see this on here, but yeah....
@@abrahamlocust6392 Maaaaaaan we still use lanterns. Lmao Peach Grounds has electricity. That's the first grounds I've seen that has it. I think New Tulsa does too
If CZcams helps the next generation learn the call, that's the changing of the times bro. I know what you mean, but let's at least share what we have left the best way we can. Mvto, wado, aho, weblaho, migwetch! Ayeeee,,😝

Thank you for posting. Brings back memories of when I was tiny and my grandmother took me to red bird smith's grounds.
You should come and visit Redbird still dances every third Saturday of every month.
@@abrahamlocust6392 wow that's amazing!
I've been there! Led a stomp there! When I'd lead at cowskin everyone knew it was me because my voice carried
Still amazes me how the East and West Cherokee differ so
My grounds! Miss this s’much. Thank you.😃
Sounds a little bit like the Chickasaw Gar dance - at least on the call part. So amazing at our similarities in the southeast.
Same folk originally; Remember we were 7 tribes of all the same folk who came across & mixed with the Moundbuilders. Much Love.
They got it from the Chickasaws. It evolved slightly.
Crazy how much our Chickasaw stomp dance sounds like this! 💜 chokma for posting!
