I'm not sure how Phonak did it, but they just released a hearing aid that is even better than the already impressive Marvel line of devices with the creation of the New Audeo Paradise Hearing Aid. Marvel, the predecessor to the Paradise, has been one of the Best and Most Popular Hearing aids in Phonak History and possibly the most popular of any hearing aid ever made. So what does the Audeo Paradise bring to the table that the Marvel didn't?
The look of the Paradise is very similar to the Marvel. The only differences are a slight microphone port orientation change and slimmer push buttons. They have the same color options as the Marvel, they use the same receiver wires and the same CeruShield Wax Traps. The entire lineup of Paradise hearing aids is being released. They have the Size 312 battery option, Size 13 battery with Telecoil, Rechargeable, and Rechargeable with Telecoil. Unfortunately, they eliminated their Size 312 battery with Telecoil option.
The new hardware features the new PRISM chip which stands for Processing Real-time Intelligent Sound Management. It has double the memory as the previous SWORD chip with out making the hearing aids larger. It also has a new Motion Sensor in the Rechargeable Versions. The motion sensors adjust your hearing aid settings based on movement which can improve how your hearing aids work while walking.
Perhaps the coolest thing about the PRISM chip is that it allows for more and better wireless connectivity. The Paradise can now be Paired with 8 different devices, Apple or Android. They can actively connect to 2 different devices at the same time so you don't have to constantly turn OFF/ON Bluetooth to switch between different Bluetooth devices.
The Paradise hearing aids offer true Hands-Free phone calling, because they use the microphones on your hearing aids to pick up your voice and send it to the person on the other end of the line. What's even cooler, is you don't need to search for the push button anymore if you want to answer phone calls. With the Motion Sensor, you can just double tap your ear to answer your phone and double tap again to hang up. Your hearing aids will even announce who is calling so you don't even need your phone to see who is calling.
You can stream audio from virtually any Bluetooth device as well so if you want to listen to music, podcasts, audiobooks, or CZcams videos, you can get the audio directly into your hearing aids. The Audeo Paradise Hearing Aids also let you access your Voice Assistant such as Siri, Bixby, or Google Assistant with a double tap as well so you don't even need to look at your phone anymore.
The Paradise devices connect to 2 TV Connectors at one time, give you access to the PartnerMic remote microphone, Roger Select or Roger Pen with an integrated Roger Receiver, and access to a Remote Control or the MyPhonak App. The MyPhonak app is very similar to the App used by the Marvel, with a few small adjustments. You can adjust Volume, Program, a 3-band equalizer, Noise Reduction, Speech Focus, and Compression.
Of course, you can still do Remote Care with your hearing care provider through your Smart Device. I've done a TON of Remote Care sessions with patients who have the Marvel devices and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! No longer do you need to go in to your provider's office for adjustments if you live far away or can't physically make it to their office. I find it to be extremely convenient and reliable as long as no physical maintenance or repairs are needed.
Phonak has also released the New AutoSense OS 4.0 Operating System. This gives you all of the same features as 3.0 with a few key additions on top of the Motion Sensor. These include Dynamic Noise Cancellation which can improve Signal-to-Noise by up to 4 decibels which is a big deal, Speech Enhancer which increases audibility in quiet environments, and the ability of your hearing care provider to create 4 additional manual programs instead of 3. They are also releasing a new Fitting formula called Adaptive Phonak Digital 2.0 which is designed to allow Adaptive Compression Speeds, utilize more Linear High-Level Gain, and perform a better First-Fit pre-calculation.
The Paradise does not yet have a CROS option for Single Sided Deafness.

Doctor Cliff I've come across your channel and im really soaking everything up. I know your a busy man but I have a question that is just bizarre for most other ents I have bad tinnitus and I'm suspecting hearing lose at certain frequencies. I hear noises that arnt there when there's background noise. Almost like my ears are hearing something thats not there made from other sounds its pretty weird. I've gotten major anxiety because of it feeling like it will be permanent as my hearing gets worse. Is this normal for hearing loss? I really appreciate the community your channel has brought together. God bless all of you out here suffering there will be a cure soon im praying!

Is the bluetooth connectivity finally good? The marvel line was complete garbage in terms of bluetooth audio reliability, it would cut out many time when outside, and when connected to a computer would cut out randomly causing me to miss sentences or dialogue from online lectures and movies/tv shows.

You convinced me to go the correct route to better hearing.

I thought with Phonak’s tenure in the audiology space that the Audeo would fit better and be more trouble free. The behind the ear model is too thick and pushes my outer ear. These Phonak hearing aids seem to suffer from short term memory loss. They frequently disconnect from my iPhone 13 while I’m using the Bluetooth feature. Shutting down the iPhone and restarting does not reconnect. There is a significant delay after reconnecting Bluetooth.

I haven't worn hearing aids since the late 80's because I hated them. They just amplified everything instead of only what I needed. This video not only made me make an appointment with my ear doctor, but I am 100% prepared to "fire" them and get another doctor if they can't get these. I'm impressed. I'm sure everyone I know will thank you.

I’m trialing the P90 R as I write this. I currently wear the OPN 1. Here are some initial observations: The tap control feature is a gimmick at best and I gave up slapping my ear trying to get it to work. It was sporadic if it worked at all. As Dr. Cliff mentioned, the custom program is a nice feature that allows you to fine tune your settings for unique situations. But it is made totally useless by being wiped out every time you get a notification. I wear an Apple Watch so I constantly get alerts and each time it would wipe out my custom program. The only way you can reinstate it is through the App which means that you have to have your IPhone handy or you’re out of luck. The ability to have connections to multiple devices at once is a nice feature. I have the aids connected to my watch, Iphone and IPad currently. I find myself constantly adjusting the volume and bass/treble especially when the custom program gets booted. Some of the issues I’m having I think could be resolved by fine tuning the aids by the audiologist. But overall I am not impressed enough to spend the money to replace my current devices.

Now I am doing research ahead of time instead of after the purchase. I really appreciate the information you give. I will be asking about the real ear measurement procedure before I fully commit to this doctor. I have mild to severe hearing loss. and have never worn aids. I am currently using the audeo Marvel and my biggest gripe is the poor battery life when using bluetooth. The rechargeable batteries is advertised to last 24 hours but realistically I get 16 hours with 2-3 hours of bluetooth usage. If the batteries are the same in the paradise then I would recommend everyone get the non-rechargeable version...

I am in trial with the P50 RT paradis aids. Previously had WIDEX Beyond for comparison. The Bluetooth improvement is no joke - it is real. I NEVER heard sound quality like this thru bluetooth - I can now hear true bass notes. amazing. and it stays connected for a longer distance. We did not do real Ear yet - just first fitting and the hearing is so natural. I don't even think about having a hearing aid on. The P50 does not have advanced noise reduction for crowds but I do OK in restaurants so far. Not sure how much better the P90 would be. The other thing is the elimination in feedback whistling. I can actually sleep with these on. Its only been a week but so far so great!
OH - battery life. Yesterday I went all day - from 6 AM to 9PM with listening to Audible and TV through bluetooth for at least 60% of that time while working. I still had power left but barely - below 10% at end of day but I made it through so I take this as a positive but there IS a limit!

Just received a pair of these two weeks ago. As an individual with a lifelong hearing loss and a fan of ITC, I was told it was time to get BTE for more power to properly fix my hearing loss. It took a bit of an adjustment but I am quite satisfied with them. My only pet peeve is the clicking noises when I use certain apps on my iPhone. I have turned off haptics and notifications but I still get them. If anyone has a solution to this I would love to hear it. Besides that, this is my first time with Phonak and it is a great product!

Oh man I just got the Audeo Marvel last year - I can't believe it's taken me this long to find out about the Paradise :O
Just might upgrade to these next year. So much more useful for volume/phone-call control when I'm riding a bicycle with a helmet on. The straps and my glasses always interfere with reaching the buttons accurately. Also super helpful for cold weather rides when I wear gloves!
Finally, accessing Google Assistant with a tap - the one feature of Bluetooth headphones I've been wishing my hearing aids had.
Can't even look at any other hearing aid manufacturer at this point.
I'm totally with you in my hopes that they devise a solution to the hearing aids always returning to autosense after bluetooth streaming mode. I always assumed it was an "easy" thing to do, but they decided against making that the default behavior to protect people from themselves. I can easily see people failing to derive maximum benefit from their hearing aids when they change the audio profile, and forget to revert it to autosense. This could especially create dissatisfaction among elderly, less tech-savvy users (probably their largest customer base) who cant figure out what's wrong/different and spam audiologists with complaints.

Received mine a couple of days ago and phone calls are amazing. Tinnitus is not much reduced, but go back in a month for more tweeking. Just getting used to fitting receivers. Adding b/tooth devices could be made easier on App, but I guess once added can forget. Waiting for TV connector which if like phone will be amazing, and had my first business meeting today and could hear everyone. Fantastic.
Pricey though but if you have multiple b/t devices to add, probably one of the best, which is why my audiologist recommended them for me, but each to their own.
Really appreciate the info you produce which gas proved very informative and useful. Thank you.

Thank you so much for all this helpful information. 😊
Unfortunately, I purchased the Phonak Audeo P90-RT about 1yr ago. But, wasn't aware of the limitation of Single Sided Cros.
As I was born with Severe hearing loss on one side, and Profound hearing loss on the other, a Cros setup was my best option.
Sadly, this means none of the app functionality is available! Which is Immensely frustrating and heartbreaking for me. Having waited 50yrs to be able to afford Aids. Here in OZ my level of Congenital hearing loss is Not Considered by our Goverment as a Dis-Ability...
It's just seen as a mild inconvienience to the individual.
If only they (Gov) Understood how for from correct they are!! 😮
God Bless all those who benefit from full Set-up Pair of Phonak Audeo P90 with App functionality. ❤
Please, Phonak consider those who's only real Choice is a Cros set-up?? 😢

So they immediately lost a sale. As usual, Marketing departments ruin products. But I suspect all companies are like this. I need to know what devices are doing so I can use them properly and understand the limitations that they may pose, for example in a recording environment. i.e. what extra hidden EQ is used, dynamic range compression, expansion, etc. etc. Thoughts on gaining access to this information?

I have the Phonak Marvel hearing aids - first time HA wearer. They have a number of the features highlighted in the video - including the custom program that you can do....HOWEVER - whenever I create Custom programs and save them...They work great for awhile - THEN they just up and disappear after about 2 weeks - with no intervention or visit to the AUD's office. My AUD mentioned their other patients have the same issue. She contacted Phonak and this appears to be a known issue with no solution. Second - I am wondering if some of the features may be able to be introduce to the Marvel line with an upgrade to the version of the App? Obviously not all since they have different chips but the soft voice feature mentioned would be great. Lastly - I suppose there is no trade-in/upgrade available to go to the Paradise vs the Marvels? I have been very pleased with my Phonak Marvel's and their performance.

    • @DrCliffAuD
      @DrCliffAuD  Před 4 lety +2

Yes, the issue you speak of is universal. Phonak is aware of the issue, but still waiting for a firmware update fix. The Marvels will have access to updated MyPhonak App releases, but still won't have all the same features as the Paradise. Upgrade/trade-in programs would be clinic dependent. No need to upgrade immediately unless you MUST have the new features. 😀

Talked to my Audiologist and will be switching over the the Paradise as soon as it is available to the VA. One question, with all the Bluetooth capabilities offered in the Paradise model; will this reduce the life of the battery? I see myself using a Bluetooth link to my computer and iPhone during the day with a connection to my car when I am out and about, finally a TV Connector at night. Will all these connections shorten my daily battery life? Thank you for your posts. You offer concise and accurate information and it is really appreciated.

I have fit about 10-15 sets of Paradise so far and patients love them. I too am disappointed they do not have a CROS transmitter available for Paradise or even the Marvel (which I also dispensed a lot of ). Yes it might be "in the works" but that doesn't help me or my patients who need to be fit now. I refuse to use three-generations old technology for my CROS patients (aka Belong). What is your go-to CROS transmitter? I am trying Oticon's soon since I also like the Opn S series and fit a lot of them. But no rechargeable available with their CROS which my patients really want.

  • @josephhipp6256
    @josephhipp6256 Před 4 lety +6

I have single sided moderate to severe hearing loss. Not enough loss for my AuD to suggest any CROS HA. When looking into the Marvels I noticed some of the technology(speech in loud noise) in the m90 seemed to depend on having two HA. What they referred to as "Binaural VoiceStream Technology" or "StereoZoom". Is that still the case for the p90 technology(dynamic noise cancellation, speech enhancer)? Or will I be able to enjoy all of the benefits of the p90 with a single HA?
edit to add: I'm not totally sure which features/capabilities require 2 HA for the Marvel, so correct me where I am wrong on that point.

We live 100 miles from NYC so we had to contact to audiologist ( not simple; I reached him by email eventually ), mail the hearing aids to him, wait for the hearing aids to go to Illinois where Phonak serviced them, and we still wait for their return .....Two weeks !
What about recommending extra hearing aids as backup.....another issue you just touch on. Only the provider knows when there is a firmware ( or is it software update ). My wife's provider never even mentioned updates. How do you handle this ?

In my clinic we send Loaner devices to patients while they wait for their hearing aids to get repaired. If they have custom earmolds on their devices, we recommend they have a backup pair to use while their devices are off for repair. This leads to very little downtime, but you have to be a patient of a clinic willing to do this.

I have the Audéo P90-312. How do I activate the double tap feature? And the call announcements of who’s calling?? I can’t find info anywhere on how to do this.

I am a singer and find that in live situations my ears clog up but when I turn pa down I can't hear everything clearly. Also don't want notifications from phone coming through during performance. Is there a setting I should use for this?
