Long term hearing aid user. I have the Lumity and the RogerOn In. I had Oticon OPN 1 previously and have high frequency hearing loss. Hearing better in a noisy environment is the number 1 priority for me. The hearing experience with the Lumity in a restaurant setting doesn't show any improvement in the Auto setting for me over the Oticon. If I put in a custom program to better suit the environment I find the improvement is marginal. Using the Roger On In in table mode at a restaurant I find it pretty useless despite prioritising the seating positions. The hearing experience, for me anyway, is actually slightly worse than just with the hearing aids. In pointing mode though it is excellent but who wants to point the thing at your restaurant companions. Presenter mode is great too as is the optical connection for the TV. It provides crisp clear sound direct to the hearing aids. Streaming can be a bit flaky and you sometimes have to turn off the aids or reset Bluetooth to get it back. Once I had to actually put them in the recharger to reset them. Nothing else worked to reactivate streaming. The phone call streaming works well in quiet situations and even in moderately noisy environments but a few times I had to seek out a quieter spot so the caller could hear me. I had no problem with the battery lasting all day but if I had the choice I would have chosen a battery powered model. There is nothing worse than running out of charge and not being able to quickly fix it. All in all I would give them a 7 out of 10.

MAJOR BATTERY UPDATE: After returning my Lumity Life for only giving me 14 hours battery life on the left and 18 on the right. Yesterday I received a new pair of Lumity Life and it confirms that my first set were DEFECTIVE. At this very moment I am at 6% on the Right at just over 20 hours and 11% at on the left. That should give me about 20.5 plus hours max on the right and probably 21 or more hours on the left. I am very pleased.
Mathew, your reviews are outstanding. Your delivery rate of speech is just right for me. Other reviews are often too fast for me, and I have to stop and go back often. It would be helpful if your reviewers listed their dates of purchase for comparisons, as Phonak makes constant updates and corrections. My L90-RL pair will arrive in Feb 2023, and I intend to send you a review. Some of your reviewers may have the first release models and as we know, there are always updates that follow quickly. AGREED! Matthew is extremely well spoken and very understandable in all of his videos! when watching any spoken info on CZcams, may I suggest setting playback speed to .75 (accessible under SETTINGS on CZcams)-it makes a BIG difference for my patients with hearing loss and assists with understanding those who talk fast (i.e. Dr. Cliff! Thanks for the interesting review. At present I am having the L90RL on a trial basis, no doubt they're excellent hearing aids. You were very careful with the statement that the battery would be sufficient for a working day, without defining the length in hours of a working days. The battery charge of these hearing aids last between 14 and 15 hours, without streaming at all. I owe the P90R since 10 months, and the battery charge of the device with the Bluetooth function lasts maximum a little more than 14 hours, exactly the same like the ones I am having now. Devices have been sent several times to Phonak and nothing has changed. You mentioned the "my phonak app", it should be a piece of cake for a company like phonak ( senova) to integrate in their APP the possibility of changing the Bluetooth functionality from one device to the other. At the moment the device with Bluetooth functionality switches off after 14 hours, while the other one still has 40% capacity. No need to mention that the last 10% battery capacity are very annoying due to the low battery alert. Thanks again for the review and sorry that my comment became so long.

Thank you for this video. I am currently demoing a pair of Lumity 90s. My audiologist, whom I respect wants 6k while they can be purchased on line for $2548 which they claim comes with programming via zoom, support and replacement parts. I would appreciate your thoughts on the cost/benefit of these 2 options. Thanks.
At the end you said your patients had better understanding in background and noise situations. What type of hearing loss did the majority have? A rough break down of the different types hearing loss would be good. I personally have high frequency loss.
Hey Bob, so far I’ve fitted quite a mix. All sensorineural, ranging from mild-moderate with generic tips to to severe-profound with custom tips. Yesterday a lesser common low frequency hearing loss which also went well. They’ve all matched real ear measurement targets well too. New to the hearing aid assistance club, great informational review. I'm a retired seismic data processor/IT guy so am very familiar with frequency and the various ways to process, filter and enhance, hence a bit geeky around what they are actually doing. One thing I would like to see is what 'function' they are actively using when in 'automatic' mode - perhaps a switch/toggle on/off or a time stamped log that could be reviewed.Maybe not a permanent thing but run for 5 minutes or so such that it doesn't interfere with functionality.
Great to get a full review of these. And great job on covering so many aspects. I'll trying the Lumity L90 with telecoil now and the sound quality "comfort" for me is somewhere between Widex Moment and Signia 7AX. The Widex provided the most natural sound and hearing speech seemed effortless, whereas the Signias were uncomfortable in terms of the quality of the amplification. One thing I've noticed is the the battery life for me is not as good as the Widex or Signia. I still want to try the ReSound Omnia and Widex Sheer before I decide, so would be great to see reviews of those one day. Thanks so much for your great videos. I also really would want to try the widex,.. I'm a singer and play piano so I need something perfect.. I am debating whether to switch to widex because I have these hearing aids right now (the Audeo Lumpy ones from this video) and they seem pretty natural, and the music setting is really good.. .I am also changing to custom molds as opposed to the rubber tulip domes, which I absolutely hate the domes because they feel extremely annoying, and ive heard the phonak actually has a really amazing reputation for the custom molds apparently,.. So that why I'm debating on going with widex or not.. Do you not find these to have a natural quality? I wouldn't know the different between these and the widex ones though.. My hearing loss is a mild to moderate flat hearing loss,.
I found the review very insightful and interesting. My 7 year old signia hearing aids were replaced today. I now am trialling a pair of Phonak L90-LR and really like the improvement in sound. However the sound effect used between segments is not only annoying but degrades the quality of your videos. Axe the sound effects.
I just ordered Audeo LR. Currently I use Audeo M90R. Personally and I'm and old guy, I have no trouble at all changing domes and wax guards. Kudo's to your reviews.

Hello Matthew, I have recently dipped into your videos and am now paying particular attention to the Phonak Lumity one as I expect to try a pair next week. May I make a gentle observation on your manner of delivery? You speak at a gallop, listening to you makes me quite breathless! Also you move from one topic to the next without time to draw breath. Think paragraphs for each topic - and take a couple of breaths between them. That gives us a couple of seconds to absorb the last topic and be ready for the next. Note how I leave a blank line between paragraphs - a pause to think. Please keep in mind that some of us are several decades older than you and our brains don't work quite as fast as they did 50 years ago. Your pace is a bit much at times. And I am running a bit behind you still interpreting what you have just said. A Phonak Lumity question: with some Widex aids I have been trying, the sound in a call (phone or Whatsapp) comes direct to my aids, but with a video call the voice goes to the phone loudspeaker. Apple watch App please. I currently wear Oticon More 1's and use the Apple Watch App multiple times a day. Considering Phonak, that is a potential deal killer.
Thanks for this informative presentation on Phonak lumity. The narrow point I wish to convey is just as the HAs can trough blue tooth connect to more than one source , phone and iPad etc. it should also be able to connect to more than one roger accessory. I find the roger select better than the roger on in the table position as it has more microphones but the ON in a directional situation is better. My roger select lies in the box. Hope Phonak give the necessary tweak.

Generic question, how do rechargeable batteries perform over time? Other devices’ batteries degrade with use/time, so if HA batteries last ‘a full day’ when new, what about in 3-5 years time? I need to update my Phonak HAs but I’m very apprehensive about moving from disposable batteries. May have to go for another manufacturer. Thanks for this informative review.
Very thorough video and well done.! I have not been fitted for these hearing aids yet but am definitely looking forward to it in the next couple of weeks. I have medium hearing loss in the right ear and low loss in the left ear so I am thinking I will get a lot of benefit from these hearing aids. If anyone can answer this question please do. Does wearing hearing aids reduce tinnitus sounds.? That is my big problem. Tinnitus in both ears is driving me insane. Thank you.

I like the Phonak 90 the best BUT now that they have come out with the Lumity - I am wondering if I should try the Lumity too. I guess that, if the Prism chip on the Audeo Paradise and Audeo Lumity is exactly the same, in principle it would be possible to update the Paradise with the same firmware in order to get some of the new features?
I've heard that there are problems with ActiveVent failure, as you would expect of a mechanical device. Additionally, I don't believe the ActiveVents are covered under warranty.
very helpful video. they do have waterproofing but you do not advise your patients to go swimming with the hearing aids. Did I understand this correctly in your video review, you say that the device is waterproof but the receiver is not? normally technically no water can get on the inside of the receiver but as we know in the beginning if your earpieces are just new you have a perfect fit... but over time the earpieces loosen up a bit so that yes water can get through. Then you are still 100% protected from the waterproofing, right? And the last question : during calling via bluetooth on your hearing aids. I have a compilot 2 that I use now and if I receive a call during the call I can have my microphones on the outside of the hearing aids extra muted to -30db so that I can hear the conversation / music streaming better. But with these new devices you no longer need compilot, but how do you solve that? because if I understood correctly, phonak has no solution for that? that is a serious flaw oh my god.
I have the phonak limity and have nothing but problems with it…so I not only have stress from my tinnitus but now I’m stressed about these hearing aids

As another stated here, biggest complaint with Phonak is their app not being compatible with the Cros system. Basically useless without that ability to adjust on the fly. If you can tell them to fix this issue, as they’ve promised for 2 years now, and release it for the Lumity series, that would be great!
I’m thinking about buying the L90 with the cros as I have single sided deafness in my left side. What’s your overall thoughts on this hearing aid? This will be my first pair.
They are about as good as it gets in the industry. The best of any aids I have tried for bluetooth streaming and phone calls. They are pretty good in background noise. The battery life trails most other brands. Get about 14 hours if I don't use the Cros, but with the Cros, get closer to 10-11 hours. So you'd always have to have a plan on being able to recharge during the day at some point. I recently tried the Starkey Genesis and the battery life was like 60 hours on a single charge. Crazy. The updated app for Phonak is much better, but still a bit buggy. There is no way to adjust the Cros yourself. In order to make any changes to the cros transmitter side, you have to see yoru audiologist in person to do so. A real pain in the rear. Also, Phonak does not yet have the capability to do appointments with your audiologist via your phone's connection. Meaning again, you have to visit in person each and every time you want a small adjustment. Overall thought, it is still one of the best options out there, even with the Lumity line being over 2 years old now.@@tonyborges9797

Ive been looking for hearing aids made to wear over the head like headphones for over 25 years. Surely im not the only hearing impaired person that detest having devices that are so easily lost and hard to use.
I'm brand new to this - I suffered SSNHL in my left ear overnight essentially in February 2022. Just starting to investigate hearing aids. My hearing loss is reverse slope - low frequency hearing loss (moderate to severe) sloping up to almost normal in the higher frequencies. My right ear is 'impeccable' I'm told. So I am looking for a single hearing aid. I've been told the low frequency loss is harder to fit/fix and that a hearing aid may not help me as much as it would for someone with high frequency loss. Would this particular hearing aid (Audeo Lumity) have features that would help me. I'm doing a "trial" from Phonak right now and it is okay but not great (a lot of tinny-ness).....the Activent intrigued me because I've noticed that when I put in a Bose earbud which closes off the canal completely, I hear tinniness with music or talking on phone for example....but when set my Apple earphones loosely in my ear....it seems better. So the Activent made me wonder if the idea of opening/closing the sound would be helpful. Any advice you can share would be appreciated.

Thanks for your review. Quite interesting. A couple of points: Now might be a good time to do away with the term receivers. They are speakers and that is all there is to it. 16 % better understanding of background and noise situations might be attractive but you will get a better understanding when you compare it with a 100-watt lightbulb. Would you notice a lot more light when you compare it with a 116-watt bulb?

My next hearing aids will not be a phonak, im tired of the minature size, and need something larger and more practical. I prefer the sound from an analog device over the newer digital stuff that isnt close to the quality we used to have.
I've had the Audeo Paradise for a couple of years. My most annoying problem comes from the aids dying out late in the day, often when I need it most. For context, I do a significant amount of watching both TV and watching videos on a computer using bluetooth. It may not be relevant, but I also continued a long period of using prior aids with ear molds, which seem to serve me well. Is the battery life with this new generation likely to last longer during the day?
i had a acoustic neuroma yrs ago deaf in my left ear am purchasing a Phonak lumity why buy 2 different aid meaning the paradise Nidia or would the lumity with coil work with buying 2 aids
Will the Lumity L70 & L90 work in a Bi Cros application? Also is the Paradise CROS P-R the right other ear hearing aid to mate with the Lumity lineup or is there a matching mate? Thanks
The app is a bit flakey. One bug is you can't mute the Bluetooth tv adapter via the app. The screen shows the muting but same sound comes through the HA
By 'mute', do you mean 'turn off' the sound from the TV adapter? If so, why not just use the 'double tap' feature to toggle off/on the TV sound? I use that all the time when watching TV and find it incredibly useful. For example, my wife and I are watching TV and she wants to say something: she raises her hand, I use the double tap to switch off the sound from the TV, we talk, then another double tap takes me back to the TV 🙂
@@peterevans6086 yes, that works and I do use it. I was merely pointing out a bug in the app. Another is that you can't set an ambient to HA ratio which remains. I like one step to left but it needs setting each day.

Over the past 2 months I've been trialling various hearing aids, Starkey Evolv Ai, Oticon More 1, Widex Moment 440, Phonak Lumity Life and now Widex Sheer. I have had various problems with most of them for one reason or another but nothing with the Phonak Lumity. My trial is about to end and must decide in the next week or so, what I would like to know is there much of a size difference in Phonak Lumity L-R and the Life version? I love the Widex Sheer for the size though. Keep up the good work Stephen

Had bi-lateral L90 slims only 2 weeks are their already knackered. Only wore inside and taken huge care of and now my providers is having to get new ones to replace them. Truly disappointing!
I have tried the two sets of Paradise Life P90LRs and had a problem with the sound drifting to one side while streaming audio books. The drift would happen over several minutes and seemed to depend on what noise was around me. I have now asked to try the Lumity L90 life HAs to see if they have the same issue. Have you had anyone have this drifting issue? Thank you so much for all your work getting this information out for everyone to use. I can't imagine what it was like to not have the WEB and have to pick a set of hearing aids.

I just got my Phonak Audeo last week. I accidentally unpaired my hearing aids with the app. It was unpaired with my iphone and I figured out how to pair with my phone but I had to use the new name the hearing aid showed but now it’s not connected. How do I pair with my Phonak?
If person cannot hear my voice on a phone call while I am walking outside, how can I use iphone microphone but still hear the other person through my hearing aids?
Hi, i have an Issue by hearing my own voice. I use it only on one ear and have recently lost most of my hearing. I have tested the Phonak Paradise 90 version and a Widex hearing aid. Don’t remember the model. But the Widex consultant warble to remove my own voice in the hearing aid by using the software on her laptop. Phonak does not have this feature and I don’t know if anyone also can do this on the market?

Are you sure the Lumity are compatible with AciveVent receiver? My audiologist is telling me they aren’t. Currently in trial period with Paradise with ActiveVent.

Great video. A quick question please: are the Phonak Lumity models mentioned in this video significantly better at dealing with background noise in comparison with the Virto 90? Cutting out background noise is important to me but I’d rather have an in-the-ear model if it works just as well

Does Lumity have improved charge life over my 2 year old Paradise? I've just gotten a Roger on in and the battery is now going low at about 13 or 14 hours.
Great review of the Phonak Lumity. I'm currently using Marvel BD90 which has been excellent and still very good. Superb Bluetooth streaming and works extremely well with iPhone. What sort of lifespan do hearing aids have in general if well looked after. I'm so tempted by the new Lumity Aids even more so now after your review and full run down of their features.

I purchased Phonak Lumity Life hearing aids in Dec 2023. I play pickle ball 3x a week in South Florida. They have failed multiple times with sweating and the heat. Phonak claims Life is sweat proof or water proof up to 10 cm. Not true. My Phonak Life has failed three times in 6 months. The sweat proof feature has not held up to its claim from Phonak. Disappointed and frustrated 😢
Is it possible to assign one of the programs to “Mute” and have that accessible by touch? (I live in the city and sirens go through me if I can’t temporarily mute my hearing aids on the fly! )
I guess I'm going to be the first person to seriously complain about battery life on Lumity Life. I'm just past 2 weeks with my first ever HA for my complicated Reverse Slope hearing deficits, so I am still very much in my learning curve. That said, I have two issues, one major and one minor. First the minor: Under tap control "start/end call or streaming". This feature continuously switches itself off and is therefore non functional. Phonak says they are aware of this issue and will address it with Apple, or fix their app, which ever works I guess! At least I can answer and disconnect with the buttons and Siri works perfectly. Second issue and it's a major one at that: I knew I would never get 24 hours of battery life, but I dammed sure expected more than 14 hours, especially with the non primary HA. Yes, less that 14 hours with virtually no streaming. There was no change with Bluetooth turned off on my phone. I am getting about 18 hours on my primary HA which I think is also less than I should without streaming. Clearly this is not all day use. If I get up at 6AM they are going dead at dinner. I should not have to recharge them in the middle of the afternoon. I had my second Audiology follow up today and we will be requesting replacement HA from Phonak so I can repost here in a week or so with an update on battery life with my new Lumity Life. One non issue is my voice on phone calls. I consistently get very good feedback on my voice volume and tone. Though it is true allot of background noise can interfere. Thanks for a great review!

I have a P70. Is there a reason when on a phone call, the myPhonak app can’t access the aids to adjust settings. It works with the TV streamer, but not the phone.
I have the Phonak Audeo Paradise.I have no hearing in one ear, so I'm a candidate for a CROS HA. When the Paradise CROS was released, the app wouldn't work at all with the HAs, and I've been patiently waiting for the app to be revved. Now that the Lumity line has been released, do you think Phonak will ever update the app to support the Paradise CROS?

I have an acoustic neuroma in my right ear and have moderate hearing loss in that ear. Practically that means I can hear in that ear, but it is like listening through a curtain. An audiologist has said that I should consider a hearing aid and talked about the Audeo Lumity. I listen to music for many hours a day (stereo system, not streamed) and I wonder how having a single hearing aid would change the experience. I would be hearing naturally in my left ear, but the right would be getting a processed digital signal. Does that cause a noticeable delay? Does it sound better than a slightly deaf right ear? Does anybody have any experience of this scenario?
I too have an acoustic neuroma in my right ear and close to normal hearing in my left ear. I tried the Oticon OPN Si for 30 days almost 2 years ago and felt the improvement was so slight that I returned them. I am being fitted with the Lumity LR90 next week for a trial. For the price I expect significant improvement otherwise will return those too.
I have the same single-sided hearing loss from an acoustic neuroma while normal hearing in the other ear. I am trialing the Phonak Lumity right now. Overall I now have balanced hearing and feel the hearing aid is doing its job well. Specifically to your question of streaming, I tried linking my phone to my single hearing aid, and felt the sound quality was horrible when answering a call. Since I have normal hearing in my other ear, I will simply use that ear to answer the phone as I have for years. Perhaps with two hearing aids it might be different, but I wouldn't recommend streaming to one hearing aid. The other issue I noticed is wind noise while outside. It sounds crackly and will ask about that during my next check-up. I also have tinnitus in that ear, and while I don't have any specific tinnitus setting that I can use, just the fact that I can hear again quite well in a balanced way between both my ears, means the "sense" of having tinnitus seems less. I call that a win. Overall I like this hearing aid, and I have the R-90 with the best technology. The Phonak app is ok, but the "automatic" setting linked to my prescription by my audiologist via real ear measures works just fine. I have to keep reminding myself that a hearing aid is just an "aid", that is, it won't restore perfect, natural, and normal hearing from when I was young. The Lumity seems to work very well as an "aid" and gives me the feeling I have balanced hearing on both sides of my head. That is likely as good as its going to get. Frankly I find the marketing of hearing aids to be over the top when it comes to what users can expect. I just expect to be able to hear better with the aid, and the Lumity delivers that in my view. No "Eureka" moment however.
Hi Anthony, it all depends on the loss in your acoustic neuroma ear. I would also consider looking mg at a A bicros set up which can make a HUGE difference. If the loss is particularly bad then amplifying sound on that ear may make things more challenging to hear, so a Bicros would be better, I hope this helps, chat to your audiologist about it. Hi have Phonak Audeo Virto ITE Aids and the 2-way Bluetooth connectivity to my Android phone and TV streamer etc is just amazing. Perfect. I've found however that when in a restaurant, my wife and I like to sit together in a romantic fashion. When she speaks to me I have to turn my head and look directly at her in order to hear what she's saying, which is just really irritating.

Search online, but at Zip Hearing they're $4598.00 and lower at other online providers. Check out online providers carefully to make sure they're legit. My L90R cost $6k because I have good Medicare Advantage, and the supplier of the aids eats all of that up and wants $1k out of pocket. But $500 bucks per ear was good for me.
Have profound mixed loss and just purchased lumity. I am not impressed with the performance of the rechargeable battery as the do not hold charge long enough to get you thru the day. I guess phonak expects users to ration the day time use and recharge during day if you plan on evening activities at all. In addition to this battery being insufficient, sound gets distorted especially if you play instrument or audiophiles. This very pricey new technology is just not living up to the hype.

CZcams just fed me an ad for "Q-grips"... (CLEAN & MASSAGE YOUR EARS WITHOUT HARMFUL COTTON SWABS!) looked potentially damaging to me... maybe they are ok, but certainly wouldn't want your audience to be misled-- Do you approve -- or disapprove of the ads they feed your audience?
I've lost over $6000 dollars on lost hearing aids, I've painted the ones I'm using now with florescent orange hoping for improvement with the next search, that's sure to come, just a matter of time.
Sounds (sorry, couldn't resist...) like this brand is the one for me. I understand all the gee whiz versions and avant-garde thinking in Opticon Signia, Widex, and Starkey, and I applaud their efforts. But it sounds like Phonak is reasonably fully featured and is still meat 'n potatoes.

Absolutely... no rechargeable ! I work sometimes 16 hours.. or if I have grandkids over I just want to have it in ears so I can listen for troubles at night.. Hell no to rechareables!
App is terrible, patients still complaining of it. no one knows you can even click the equalizer button in the top right, its too small and unintuitive for old people to figure out. the old app was much better. Sonova should be embarrassed

Their old app was much better, especially in the Adjust Program section, they at least had the pictures of the Mic Directionality as well while you were adjusting it and able to see what it was doing! (although i think they were too small for old people to see, but at least they were there, to give them a idea) its not easy explaining to patients what the sliders are doing now.
Lumity Go (built in battery) Charger Price, £250? Seems like a rip off to me. Just got the L90's. I would have preferred a battery option so the pricing makes it even more frustrating. I bought from specsavers (thought service good) so were cheaper than most & still waiting (a week) on an upgrade price but think likely to be same or pretty expensive. Firstly as no battery option this should have been standard, why even bother to manufacturer a non-battery version assuming all using such a case are re-chargable, surely only a few £'s battery & build in components. I have quality ear pods & other such devices, all come standard with built in battery & charger to carry around. These devices vary £150 - £250 for the whole thing so assuming the actual ear pods themselves are 95% of the cost the charger £20 -£40 absolute tops. Separate power banks with much larger batteries & contactless charging can be had for well under £40 & the battery is usually the expensive part. So perhaps to allow for a more delicate or sensitive wireless charge components that Go Charger should be about rrp £60 but I'm sure about £20 to build for Phonak themselves, if they were to include on a £3k product. Bit of a rant & not likely to need often but if you went out early, 6am, all day & perhaps a show or late dinner, bit of streaming I would worry they will last & you really should not have to worry about that if there could be a cheap'ish solution. I would like to pop the box in my coat pocket or bag & know I can easily top up. Instead will have to carry a power bank & cable with you. I would have actually liked to have bought a spare to keep in the car or whatever but of course no way & won't even try and swap the one i've got unless its a very sensible price. I just hate this sort of thing when it actually prevents someone enjoying or getting the full benefit of a very expensive device. If Phonak can explain why so expensive I am happy to eat my words
I've found it more pleasant to forget the hearing aids when going to loud concerts, and many times it more pleasant listening to the car audio without them, less clash, less noise, and better sounding.
I dont know why phonak is obsess the size of the aids.... the last worries of the patient is the size. also it is a very frustrating that phonak force people to buy rechargeable batteries aids. ok it is cool but for hard hearing people it is not convenient at all. what happen if you forget the charging box ,what happen if you aids die during the day. also rechargeable batteries are not reliable. one they are dead you need to send them to phonak. a better option would have been aids who can take both. rechargeable and nonchargeable in emergency situation.

Long term hearing aid user. I have the Lumity and the RogerOn In. I had Oticon OPN 1 previously and have high frequency hearing loss. Hearing better in a noisy environment is the number 1 priority for me. The hearing experience with the Lumity in a restaurant setting doesn't show any improvement in the Auto setting for me over the Oticon. If I put in a custom program to better suit the environment I find the improvement is marginal. Using the Roger On In in table mode at a restaurant I find it pretty useless despite prioritising the seating positions. The hearing experience, for me anyway, is actually slightly worse than just with the hearing aids. In pointing mode though it is excellent but who wants to point the thing at your restaurant companions. Presenter mode is great too as is the optical connection for the TV. It provides crisp clear sound direct to the hearing aids. Streaming can be a bit flaky and you sometimes have to turn off the aids or reset Bluetooth to get it back. Once I had to actually put them in the recharger to reset them. Nothing else worked to reactivate streaming. The phone call streaming works well in quiet situations and even in moderately noisy environments but a few times I had to seek out a quieter spot so the caller could hear me. I had no problem with the battery lasting all day but if I had the choice I would have chosen a battery powered model. There is nothing worse than running out of charge and not being able to quickly fix it. All in all I would give them a 7 out of 10.

Yes I do not like the rechargeable battery being built in, I would rather have spare rechargeable batteries, this has been problematic for me too.
MAJOR BATTERY UPDATE: After returning my Lumity Life for only giving me 14 hours battery life on the left and 18 on the right. Yesterday I received a new pair of Lumity Life and it confirms that my first set were DEFECTIVE. At this very moment I am at 6% on the Right at just over 20 hours and 11% at on the left. That should give me about 20.5 plus hours max on the right and probably 21 or more hours on the left. I am very pleased.

Thanks for the interesting review. At present I am having the L90RL on a trial basis, no doubt they're excellent hearing aids. You were very careful with the statement that the battery would be sufficient for a working day, without defining the length in hours of a working days. The battery charge of these hearing aids last between 14 and 15 hours, without streaming at all. I owe the P90R since 10 months, and the battery charge of the device with the Bluetooth function lasts maximum a little more than 14 hours, exactly the same like the ones I am having now. Devices have been sent several times to Phonak and nothing has changed.
You mentioned the "my phonak app", it should be a piece of cake for a company like phonak ( senova) to integrate in their APP the possibility of changing the Bluetooth functionality from one device to the other. At the moment the device with Bluetooth functionality switches off after 14 hours, while the other one still has 40% capacity. No need to mention that the last 10% battery capacity are very annoying due to the low battery alert.

At the end you said your patients had better understanding in background and noise situations. What type of hearing loss did the majority have? A rough break down of the different types hearing loss would be good. I personally have high frequency loss.
Hey Bob, so far I’ve fitted quite a mix. All sensorineural, ranging from mild-moderate with generic tips to to severe-profound with custom tips.
Yesterday a lesser common low frequency hearing loss which also went well. They’ve all matched real ear measurement targets well too. With a high frequency loss I think that you would be a good candidate. Thanks for watching, Matthew

New to the hearing aid assistance club, great informational review. I'm a retired seismic data processor/IT guy so am very familiar with frequency and the various ways to process, filter and enhance, hence a bit geeky around what they are actually doing. One thing I would like to see is what 'function' they are actively using when in 'automatic' mode - perhaps a switch/toggle on/off or a time stamped log that could be reviewed.Maybe not a permanent thing but run for 5 minutes or so such that it doesn't interfere with functionality.
Great to get a full review of these. And great job on covering so many aspects. I'll trying the Lumity L90 with telecoil now and the sound quality "comfort" for me is somewhere between Widex Moment and Signia 7AX. The Widex provided the most natural sound and hearing speech seemed effortless, whereas the Signias were uncomfortable in terms of the quality of the amplification. One thing I've noticed is the the battery life for me is not as good as the Widex or Signia. I still want to try the ReSound Omnia and Widex Sheer before I decide, so would be great to see reviews of those one day. Thanks so much for your great videos. It really does help and I very much appreciate it.
I guess the battery life is because Phonic are using classic bluetooth while Widex, Signia and GN use Bluetooth low energy.

I also really would want to try the widex,.. I'm a singer and play piano so I need something perfect.. I am debating whether to switch to widex because I have these hearing aids right now (the Audeo Lumpy ones from this video) and they seem pretty natural, and the music setting is really good.. .I am also changing to custom molds as opposed to the rubber tulip domes, which I absolutely hate the domes because they feel extremely annoying, and ive heard the phonak actually has a really amazing reputation for the custom molds apparently,.. So that why I'm debating on going with widex or not.. Do you not find these to have a natural quality? I wouldn't know the different between these and the widex ones though.. My hearing loss is a mild to moderate flat hearing loss,.
I found the review very insightful and interesting. My 7 year old signia hearing aids were replaced today. I now am trialling a pair of Phonak L90-LR and really like the improvement in sound. However the sound effect used between segments is not only annoying but degrades the quality of your videos. Axe the sound effects.
I just ordered Audeo LR. Currently I use Audeo M90R. Personally and I'm and old guy, I have no trouble at all changing domes and wax guards. Kudo's to your reviews.

You speak at a gallop, listening to you makes me quite breathless!
Also you move from one topic to the next without time to draw breath. Think paragraphs for each topic - and take a couple of breaths between them. That gives us a couple of seconds to absorb the last topic and be ready for the next. Note how I leave a blank line between paragraphs - a pause to think.
Please keep in mind that some of us are several decades older than you and our brains don't work quite as fast as they did 50 years ago. Your pace is a bit much at times. And I am running a bit behind you still interpreting what you have just said.
A Phonak Lumity question: with some Widex aids I have been trying, the sound in a call (phone or Whatsapp) comes direct to my aids, but with a video call the voice goes to the phone loudspeaker. With the Lumity in a video call can sound be directed to the aids?

Apple watch App please. I currently wear Oticon More 1's and use the Apple Watch App multiple times a day. Considering Phonak, that is a potential deal killer.
Thanks for this informative presentation on Phonak lumity. The narrow point I wish to convey is just as the HAs can trough blue tooth connect to more than one source , phone and iPad etc. it should also be able to connect to more than one roger accessory. I find the roger select better than the roger on in the table position as it has more microphones but the ON in a directional situation is better. My roger select lies in the box. Hope Phonak give the necessary tweak.

Generic question, how do rechargeable batteries perform over time? Other devices’ batteries degrade with use/time, so if HA batteries last ‘a full day’ when new, what about in 3-5 years time? I need to update my Phonak HAs but I’m very apprehensive about moving from disposable batteries. May have to go for another manufacturer. Thanks for this informative review.

I’ve had Phonak Paradise for 3 years. I wear them daily from 8am to 11pm. I haven’t noticed any degradation of the battery at all.
Very thorough video and well done.! I have not been fitted for these hearing aids yet but am definitely looking forward to it in the next couple of weeks. I have medium hearing loss in the right ear and low loss in the left ear so I am thinking I will get a lot of benefit from these hearing aids. If anyone can answer this question please do. Does wearing hearing aids reduce tinnitus sounds.? That is my big problem. Tinnitus in both ears is driving me insane. Thank you.

very helpful video. they do have waterproofing but you do not advise your patients to go swimming with the hearing aids.
Did I understand this correctly in your video review, you say that the device is waterproof but the receiver is not? normally technically no water can get on the inside of the receiver but as we know in the beginning if your earpieces are just new you have a perfect fit... but over time the earpieces loosen up a bit so that yes water can get through. Then you are still 100% protected from the waterproofing, right?
And the last question : during calling via bluetooth on your hearing aids. I have a compilot 2 that I use now and if I receive a call during the call I can have my microphones on the outside of the hearing aids extra muted to -30db so that I can hear the conversation / music streaming better. But with these new devices you no longer need compilot, but how do you solve that? because if I understood correctly, phonak has no solution for that? that is a serious flaw oh my god.
I have the phonak limity and have nothing but problems with it…so I not only have stress from my tinnitus but now I’m stressed about these hearing aids

As another stated here, biggest complaint with Phonak is their app not being compatible with the Cros system. Basically useless without that ability to adjust on the fly. If you can tell them to fix this issue, as they’ve promised for 2 years now, and release it for the Lumity series, that would be great!

They are about as good as it gets in the industry. The best of any aids I have tried for bluetooth streaming and phone calls. They are pretty good in background noise. The battery life trails most other brands. Get about 14 hours if I don't use the Cros, but with the Cros, get closer to 10-11 hours. So you'd always have to have a plan on being able to recharge during the day at some point. I recently tried the Starkey Genesis and the battery life was like 60 hours on a single charge. Crazy. The updated app for Phonak is much better, but still a bit buggy. There is no way to adjust the Cros yourself. In order to make any changes to the cros transmitter side, you have to see yoru audiologist in person to do so. A real pain in the rear. Also, Phonak does not yet have the capability to do appointments with your audiologist via your phone's connection. Meaning again, you have to visit in person each and every time you want a small adjustment. Overall thought, it is still one of the best options out there, even with the Lumity line being over 2 years old now.@@tonyborges9797

Ive been looking for hearing aids made to wear over the head like headphones for over 25 years. Surely im not the only hearing impaired person that detest having devices that are so easily lost and hard to use.
I'm brand new to this - I suffered SSNHL in my left ear overnight essentially in February 2022. Just starting to investigate hearing aids. My hearing loss is reverse slope - low frequency hearing loss (moderate to severe) sloping up to almost normal in the higher frequencies. My right ear is 'impeccable' I'm told. So I am looking for a single hearing aid. I've been told the low frequency loss is harder to fit/fix and that a hearing aid may not help me as much as it would for someone with high frequency loss. Would this particular hearing aid (Audeo Lumity) have features that would help me. I'm doing a "trial" from Phonak right now and it is okay but not great (a lot of tinny-ness).....the Activent intrigued me because I've noticed that when I put in a Bose earbud which closes off the canal completely, I hear tinniness with music or talking on phone for example....but when set my Apple earphones loosely in my ear....it seems better. So the Activent made me wonder if the idea of opening/closing the sound would be helpful. Any advice you can share would be appreciated.

In terms of the numbers, yes they're all relative at the end of the day. Keep an eye on the channel as we have some pretty cool things in the pipeline to make these numbers mean more in practice.

My next hearing aids will not be a phonak, im tired of the minature size, and need something larger and more practical. I prefer the sound from an analog device over the newer digital stuff that isnt close to the quality we used to have.
I've had the Audeo Paradise for a couple of years. My most annoying problem comes from the aids dying out late in the day, often when I need it most. For context, I do a significant amount of watching both TV and watching videos on a computer using bluetooth. It may not be relevant, but I also continued a long period of using prior aids with ear molds, which seem to serve me well. Is the battery life with this new generation likely to last longer during the day?

The app is a bit flakey. One bug is you can't mute the Bluetooth tv adapter via the app. The screen shows the muting but same sound comes through the HA

By 'mute', do you mean 'turn off' the sound from the TV adapter? If so, why not just use the 'double tap' feature to toggle off/on the TV sound? I use that all the time when watching TV and find it incredibly useful. For example, my wife and I are watching TV and she wants to say something: she raises her hand, I use the double tap to switch off the sound from the TV, we talk, then another double tap takes me back to the TV 🙂
@@peterevans6086 yes, that works and I do use it. I was merely pointing out a bug in the app. Another is that you can't set an ambient to HA ratio which remains. I like one step to left but it needs setting each day.

Great informative videos keep it up. Over the past 2 months I've been trialling various hearing aids, Starkey Evolv Ai, Oticon More 1, Widex Moment 440, Phonak Lumity Life and now Widex Sheer. I have had various problems with most of them for one reason or another but nothing with the Phonak Lumity.
My trial is about to end and must decide in the next week or so, what I would like to know is there much of a size difference in Phonak Lumity L-R and the Life version?
I love the Widex Sheer for the size though.

Had bi-lateral L90 slims only 2 weeks are their already knackered. Only wore inside and taken huge care of and now my providers is having to get new ones to replace them. Truly disappointing!
I have tried the two sets of Paradise Life P90LRs and had a problem with the sound drifting to one side while streaming audio books. The drift would happen over several minutes and seemed to depend on what noise was around me. I have now asked to try the Lumity L90 life HAs to see if they have the same issue. Have you had anyone have this drifting issue? Thank you so much for all your work getting this information out for everyone to use. I can't imagine what it was like to not have the WEB and have to pick a set of hearing aids.

I just got my Phonak Audeo last week. I accidentally unpaired my hearing aids with the app. It was unpaired with my iphone and I figured out how to pair with my phone but I had to use the new name the hearing aid showed but now it’s not connected. How do I pair with my Phonak?

Hi, i have an Issue by hearing my own voice. I use it only on one ear and have recently lost most of my hearing.
I have tested the Phonak Paradise 90 version and a Widex hearing aid. Don’t remember the model. But the Widex consultant warble to remove my own voice in the hearing aid by using the software on her laptop.
Phonak does not have this feature and I don’t know if anyone also can do this on the market?

Great review of the Phonak Lumity. I'm currently using Marvel BD90 which has been excellent and still very good. Superb Bluetooth streaming and works extremely well with iPhone. What sort of lifespan do hearing aids have in general if well looked after. I'm so tempted by the new Lumity Aids even more so now after your review and full run down of their features.

I purchased Phonak Lumity Life hearing aids in Dec 2023. I play pickle ball 3x a week in South Florida. They have failed multiple times with sweating and the heat. Phonak claims Life is sweat proof or water proof up to 10 cm. Not true. My Phonak Life has failed three times in 6 months. The sweat proof feature has not held up to its claim from Phonak. Disappointed and frustrated 😢

I guess I'm going to be the first person to seriously complain about battery life on Lumity Life. I'm just past 2 weeks with my first ever HA for my complicated Reverse Slope hearing deficits, so I am still very much in my learning curve. That said, I have two issues, one major and one minor. First the minor: Under tap control "start/end call or streaming". This feature continuously switches itself off and is therefore non functional. Phonak says they are aware of this issue and will address it with Apple, or fix their app, which ever works I guess! At least I can answer and disconnect with the buttons and Siri works perfectly. Second issue and it's a major one at that: I knew I would never get 24 hours of battery life, but I dammed sure expected more than 14 hours, especially with the non primary HA. Yes, less that 14 hours with virtually no streaming. There was no change with Bluetooth turned off on my phone. I am getting about 18 hours on my primary HA which I think is also less than I should without streaming. Clearly this is not all day use. If I get up at 6AM they are going dead at dinner. I should not have to recharge them in the middle of the afternoon. I had my second Audiology follow up today and we will be requesting replacement HA from Phonak so I can repost here in a week or so with an update on battery life with my new Lumity Life. One non issue is my voice on phone calls. I consistently get very good feedback on my voice volume and tone. Though it is true allot of background noise can interfere. Thanks for a great review!

@@HearingTracker I did, I posted this 9 days ago as a follow up: MAJOR BATTERY UPDATE: After returning my Lumity Life for only giving me 14 hours battery life on the left and 18 on the right. Yesterday I received a new pair of Lumity Life and it confirms that my first set were DEFECTIVE. At this very moment I am at 6% on the Right at just over 20 hours and 11% at on the left. That should give me about 20.5 plus hours max on the right and probably 21 or more hours on the left. I am very pleased.

I have a P70. Is there a reason when on a phone call, the myPhonak app can’t access the aids to adjust settings. It works with the TV streamer, but not the phone.

I have the Phonak Audeo Paradise.I have no hearing in one ear, so I'm a candidate for a CROS HA. When the Paradise CROS was released, the app wouldn't work at all with the HAs, and I've been patiently waiting for the app to be revved. I have an acoustic neuroma in my right ear and have moderate hearing loss in that ear. Practically that means I can hear in that ear, but it is like listening through a curtain. An audiologist has said that I should consider a hearing aid and talked about the Audeo Lumity. I listen to music for many hours a day (stereo system, not streamed) and I wonder how having a single hearing aid would change the experience. I would be hearing naturally in my left ear, but the right would be getting a processed digital signal. Does that cause a noticeable delay? Does it sound better than a slightly deaf right ear? Does anybody have any experience of this scenario?
I too have an acoustic neuroma in my right ear and close to normal hearing in my left ear. I tried the Oticon OPN Si for 30 days almost 2 years ago and felt the improvement was so slight that I returned them. I am being fitted with the Lumity LR90 next week for a trial. For the price I expect significant improvement otherwise will return those too.

I have the same single-sided hearing loss from an acoustic neuroma while normal hearing in the other ear. I am trialing the Phonak Lumity right now. Overall I now have balanced hearing and feel the hearing aid is doing its job well. Specifically to your question of streaming, I tried linking my phone to my single hearing aid, and felt the sound quality was horrible when answering a call. Since I have normal hearing in my other ear, I will simply use that ear to answer the phone as I have for years. Perhaps with two hearing aids it might be different, but I wouldn't recommend streaming to one hearing aid. The other issue I noticed is wind noise while outside. It sounds crackly and will ask about that during my next check-up. I also have tinnitus in that ear, and while I don't have any specific tinnitus setting that I can use, just the fact that I can hear again quite well in a balanced way between both my ears, means the "sense" of having tinnitus seems less. I call that a win. Overall I like this hearing aid, and I have the R-90 with the best technology. The Phonak app is ok, but the "automatic" setting linked to my prescription by my audiologist via real ear measures works just fine. I have to keep reminding myself that a hearing aid is just an "aid", that is, it won't restore perfect, natural, and normal hearing from when I was young. The Lumity seems to work very well as an "aid" and gives me the feeling I have balanced hearing on both sides of my head. That is likely as good as its going to get. Frankly I find the marketing of hearing aids to be over the top when it comes to what users can expect. I just expect to be able to hear better with the aid, and the Lumity delivers that in my view. No "Eureka" moment however.
Hi Anthony, it all depends on the loss in your acoustic neuroma ear. I would also consider looking mg at a A bicros set up which can make a HUGE difference. If the loss is particularly bad then amplifying sound on that ear may make things more challenging to hear, so a Bicros would be better, I hope this helps, chat to your audiologist about it. Hi have Phonak Audeo Virto ITE Aids and the 2-way Bluetooth connectivity to my Android phone and TV streamer etc is just amazing. Perfect. I've found however that when in a restaurant, my wife and I like to sit together in a romantic fashion. When she speaks to me I have to turn my head and look directly at her in order to hear what she's saying, which is just really irritating.

Search online, but at Zip Hearing they're $4598.00 and lower at other online providers. Check out online providers carefully to make sure they're legit. My L90R cost $6k because I have good Medicare Advantage, and the supplier of the aids eats all of that up and wants $1k out of pocket. But $500 bucks per ear was good for me.
Have profound mixed loss and just purchased lumity. I am not impressed with the performance of the rechargeable battery as the do not hold charge long enough to get you thru the day. I guess phonak expects users to ration the day time use and recharge during day if you plan on evening activities at all. In addition to this battery being insufficient, sound gets distorted especially if you play instrument or audiophiles. This very pricey new technology is just not living up to the hype.

I've lost over $6000 dollars on lost hearing aids, I've painted the ones I'm using now with florescent orange hoping for improvement with the next search, that's sure to come, just a matter of time.
Sounds (sorry, couldn't resist...) like this brand is the one for me. I understand all the gee whiz versions and avant-garde thinking in Opticon Signia, Widex, and Starkey, and I applaud their efforts. But it sounds like Phonak is reasonably fully featured and is still meat 'n potatoes.

Absolutely... no rechargeable ! I work sometimes 16 hours.. or if I have grandkids over I just want to have it in ears so I can listen for troubles at night.. Hell no to rechareables!
App is terrible, patients still complaining of it. no one knows you can even click the equalizer button in the top right, its too small and unintuitive for old people to figure out.

Their old app was much better, especially in the Adjust Program section, they at least had the pictures of the Mic Directionality as well while you were adjusting it and able to see what it was doing! (although i think they were too small for old people to see, but at least they were there, to give them a idea) its not easy explaining to patients what the sliders are doing now.
Lumity Go (built in battery) Charger Price, £250? Seems like a rip off to me. Just got the L90's.
I would have preferred a battery option so the pricing makes it even more frustrating.
I bought from specsavers (thought service good) so were cheaper than most & still waiting (a week) on an upgrade price but think likely to be same or pretty expensive.
Firstly as no battery option this should have been standard, why even bother to manufacturer a non-battery version assuming all using such a case are re-chargable, surely only a few £'s battery & build in components.
I have quality ear pods & other such devices, all come standard with built in battery & charger to carry around. These devices vary £150 - £250 for the whole thing so assuming the actual ear pods themselves are 95% of the cost the charger £20 -£40 absolute tops.
Separate power banks with much larger batteries & contactless charging can be had for well under £40 & the battery is usually the expensive part. So perhaps to allow for a more delicate or sensitive wireless charge components that Go Charger should be about rrp £60 but I'm sure about £20 to build for Phonak themselves, if they were to include on a £3k product.
Bit of a rant & not likely to need often but if you went out early, 6am, all day & perhaps a show or late dinner, bit of streaming I would worry they will last & you really should not have to worry about that if there could be a cheap'ish solution. I would like to pop the box in my coat pocket or bag & know I can easily top up. Instead will have to carry a power bank & cable with you.
I would have actually liked to have bought a spare to keep in the car or whatever but of course no way & won't even try and swap the one i've got unless its a very sensible price.
I just hate this sort of thing when it actually prevents someone enjoying or getting the full benefit of a very expensive device.

I've found it more pleasant to forget the hearing aids when going to loud concerts, and many times it more pleasant listening to the car audio without them, less clash, less noise, and better sounding.
I dont know why phonak is obsess the size of the aids.... the last worries of the patient is the size. also it is a very frustrating that phonak force people to buy rechargeable batteries aids. ok it is cool but for hard hearing people it is not convenient at all. what happen if you forget the charging box ,what happen if you aids die during the day. also rechargeable batteries are not reliable. one they are dead you need to send them to phonak. a better option would have been aids who can take both. rechargeable and nonchargeable in emergency situation.
As u said streaming any audio music or phone calls to the hearing aid is very useful. And thanks for the information and i am from Sri Lanka.
