The thing is too- Alex is really chill and funny about it, and his animals are still well taken care of.

Not a reptile, but tarantulas are the most pet rock of all pets that I’ve had. My curly hair t has buried himself in his cave has just been sitting their for the past 2 months. If he isn’t molting imma take away his phone privileges. But I still love him even if he has the metabolism of a chair.

I kinda wish all my slings would stay slings. I love watching them dig and move substrate around and pile it up in their water dishes.
I remember find one in a box full of small black clothing pieces one day, than droping the box run screaming for my life and it don't move a inch
My bf has a curly hair and i can confirm their only activities is eat, sleep, exist in the hide and giant dug up hole and never comes out unless it’s to grab the cricket(s) on feeding days😂
Dude I had a whip tailed scorpion and it literally stayed in a hole for moths, I had to throw food down the hole to at the least give him a chance to eat!

Ball pythons got their name for a reason, they kinda just exist in an enclosure. pretty and all but also pretty inactive.
Yeah hes definitely doing it to be "cool" and appears to be make money which are the wrong reasons for owning reptiles he has absolutely no passion towards his animals
Damon, he's an reptile rehabilitater, if he had no passion for the work he's doing he wouldn't be doing this for a job. And the payout for selling the animals isn't as much as you would think compared to the cost of getting some of them back up to health, plus cost of getting a number of them.
Also Alex just doesn't seem that emotive a person, it's not as simple as saying those type don't care they just don't show it quite as much.

I handle Brazilian rainbow boas at work, and they're gorgeous! They're fairly active, depending on the temperature, and fun to watch on a tree perch.

I had an iguana that got to huge ( not sure how long but a few feet for sure) if you treat it like a dog it will be dog, we bought him a huge recliner and he just chilled, and went to bathroom on puppy pads and when he was mad hed fucking dethclaw run at you until got to the stairs, was actually so fun, sorry to ramble but I'm very high and remembering that was nice

My tiger salamander is pretty dang boring. It's kind like having a fish that's buried in dirt all day.

I find tiger salamanders to always be looking for food. When I handle them, anything that comes near them, they snap at to see if it's food. And they have cute, derpy froggy faces!

True, feeding time is always a pleasure 😊. I love the little nugget, just as far as my other animals go, he's the one I can interact with the least. (Besides my fish, but although I can't touch them I love to watch them swim)

Most boring animal: humans
I just hate taking care of them. They use water to clean themselves. They’re picky when it comes to food and mates it’s so annoying. At least they’re litter box trained.
Humans mate more frequently when exposed to lingerie. Try aerosolising some cotton and nylon and adding it to the enclosure. No more than 5% concentration.
My human only eats chocolate and spends all day in his bed watching CZcams videos, would not recommend, get a cat or an elephant, something to spice up the room you know what I’m saying?
It takes a long time before they are litter box trained though.
I would never want a human - they take forever to arrive and it's absolute hell when they arrive. Plus, they're so expensive! 0/10 would never think about again
My human is a lazy ass she always cries 24/7 anyone have any suggestion on how to fix that?

Same! My western hognose is spunky, acts friendly, but secretly just wishes you were food. My ball python literally just lives between his water dish and his humidity box. I loveee them both. My python is way more tolerant of being handled. Each has their pros.
I do a bi weekly "Are you dead check" with my KSB. Also it always freezes when I catch it roaming on top of the substrate, like it's not supposed to be there or something
The way the frog was climbing out of the tub is amazing.
The thing with crested geckos is gonna be just like the beardies:

@@chyidi9144 Amphibians require constant moisture and have skin where as reptiles have scales. Reptiles lay their eggs in a warm dry space, but Amphibians lay their eggs in the water. Both are cold blooded, but that doesn't make them the same. Amphibians slowly go through a metamorphosis as they grow and reptiles shed their scales in order to grow. Reptiles ≠ Amphibians

100% agree on cresties and ball pythons. Have no experience of sulcatas, frogs or sand boas, although I imagine a nocturnal snake that hides under the substrate all day and night is pretty underwhelming! Love the video Alex, it's about time people started saying what they think and stop recommending ball pythons to every new keeper - you need something that will keep you interested for potentially 20-30-40 years, not a just couple of months.
DwaynettaDibbley I only have experience with ball pythons, but I really love the one that I have as a companion animal! I guess it depends on what you want out of the animal, but I love that bp’s are so slow moving and chill about everything; I take mine out to hang with me while I’m drawing or watching CZcams and whatnot and she’s perfect for that. Everyone has their own preference, but I think what others find boring about the ball python is what I love most about them 😂
To each their own I guess. Either that or I just got super lucky w/my crestie. He's extremely active and knows who I am, begs for food. Don't have any direct experience w/ball pythons. I do have a KSB, and also think I might have a strange one there because he'll come out and crusie around his enclosure at night. Also seems to enjoy (will not eat until he's been handled for at least 20-30 min, and yes, his temps etc are spot on) interacting w/ppl.

I really want a ball python. I call them "zen pets" I love how mellow they are. I have enough excitement in the rest of my life that I really would like a calm, hang out, chill noodle-friend.

I too am on the "I love Cresties" train. am still a fairly new owner of one, but i swear down mine actually fell asleep in my hand the other night when i was handling him. was the cutest damned thing I've experienced as a reptile owner.

It's good to be honest about what species you're not interested in/find boring, and it's great to point out that it doesn't mean you provide them less than adequate care. Some species are "boring" either due to their activity levels, handleability, as well as care. Those are important things to keep in mind when choosing a pet. Part of being a responsible owner is knowing what you're looking for in a pet and how that also caters to its needs.

HUMANS! Humans r the most boring species I have ever owned. Mine just lay around the house staring at a screen, sleeping, or eating. They don't do anything & have little to no noticeable personality.

Ball pythons are indeed boring and super chill. Im taking care of my dads texas rat snake and SHE is feisty!!! I was cleaning up a poop and she rushed out at me with her mouth open, i was giving her a food and she went for me instead of the mouse and shes so quick!! My ball python however, sits there, i pick him up and hes like a rock, i give him food and he eats only the food, i change his cage and he just sits there doing noooothingg. Rat snake is keeping me on my toes for sure

My ball python is very active when I get him out and handle him. He loves to explore and climb, he’s not at all head shy, and is only ever in a ball when I first pick him up. I love him a lot!

I work with a very large sulcata tortoise and he is absolutely precious. He runs right up to me to get food and will try to eat my shoes. He also loves shell scratches. He gets all excited and “wiggles” his butt.
9:32 - I DID HEAR THE CATS AND I THOUGHT I WAS GOING CRAZY. I'm glad it wasn't IRL, my cats don't sound like that, so that would have meant there was an intruder-cat...
