Hey Rez...thanks for the video and that was quite informative. I would like to hear your perspective on getting to know the German language. Is it really necessary for us to know german as a Data analyst / scientist to interact with the stakeholders?? Or the Germans will communicate with us in English? What's your take and experience on this.
Hey Sri, I really recommend learning the Language. My company is International, it is fine but most of your colleagues will be german, sometimes during break or unofficial meetings they speak german. So if you don't know it, you'll be left out a bit ;) For talking with stakeholders, they speak english if the mode is set in english but sometimes, some also don't. So it depends on the company's setting. Learning the language is very important for your daily activities too! ☺️
At university you will be fine, almost everybody here speaks english and everybody will be fine with you being from another country and not speaking german. But if you live and work here for many years you should definitly learn the language, even though most people in IT can speak english, it is frowned upon if people refuse to learn the language.

Hello Rez, thanks for the very informative video. I wanted to ask you about the importance of a portfolio and CV for applications. I'm doing my masters in Data Science in Germany and trying to land a working student contract in the field or a junior position while having c1 level in German, but somehow I don't even get accepted for an interview.
Hi Zowlex, I really understand this. It's very difficult to even land interview these days despite your credentials. May I know your background before that? I know a lot of people still looking for jobs. I believe CV should be more important since it's the first thing they should notice. On average recruiters spend 6-8 seconds looking at your cv before they decide and this is not a lot of time. It's only my opinion but I have tried hiring before, and it helps my attention if the cv is catchy. but I am not an expert recruiter, however this is something that would at least catch attention. it also helps if your cv is easy to understand but at the same time stays technical. people don't like to read very long CVs as well. with portfolios it only supports your expertise and it shows your personality as someone dedicated and willing to learn.
for big companies like Allianz, sometimes applicants for a job position goes above 1000. so it's a lot of competition and I believe they also use algorithms for this. so perhaps try to match your cv to the job description as well. this might help.

hey rez, nice video. I am an aspiring data analyst can you specify the knowledge required because as per my knowledge power bi, SQL and Excel are the main tools to be required for data analyst profile. is it mandatory to have knowledge of programing language?
Hi Krishnam. It really depends on the company, they use a lot of tableau too, sql, and not so much in excel but again, it really depends what tech stack they use. I think it would be very beneficial to learn at least 1 programming language too. It will come in handy depending on the company's tech stack.

Yes and No 😂 For an entry level position. This video was 2 year ago. Also, prices here in Germany are not that high. Personally, I can still save around 45% of my net income after basic needs + leisure budget (holidays, etc). At the end, I think it depends on your lifestyle too.

Hi @@parthshrivastava2548, for an internship position? Mostly 60k is for the entry level full time (2 years ago). When I was an intern almost 3 years ago, I only receive 1500 monthly, gross.
You should include that when you speak English about Germany. So, people don't get illusions about the German market, like I did once. I would bet the competition is way higher for English-speaking jobs. Since most people speak English and the Germans who want to become data scientists speak English anyway.
You're right. It's a question I was asked all the time as well, I'll include it in one of my vids. If you only speak english you are only limited to mostly international companies, but some small comp. also adjusts, most of the time they will send you to german courses if you only speak english.

Q: Is it highly competitive with only a select few getting the jobs? Are the immigrants being treated any different while screening for interviews?
I can really say that Data Science is very competitive. As I've said earlier, they mostly require higher technical degrees and a lot of experience. For immigrants, it's more competitive especially if you don't speak german. In general, there are more German jobs than English, and as an immigrant if you don't know that language you are only limited to these English jobs (i.e., international companies). As a female Asian :D I don't feel any discrimination in the selection process. I am completely aware that I am competing with mostly guys as well but I don't see any issues here, so far :)
@@datawithrez Thanks a lot for your reply! This definitely clears up a lot of things!
hey rez, nice video.
Hi, very informative video.. can you please also tell how relevant are language as German or french are in jobs requirements in Europe ? Thanks
Hi Jass, thanks. Language is relevant in general. if you're searching for a job there are more job available for you if you know the language and you're not only limited to international companies.
@@datawithrez yes I agree .. right now I am in Belgium. And almost every job requires dutch or french..so I was wondering if getting into data analysis, would it be same or language is not as important as in professions like IT.
True. For people working with data language is important since you have to explain and communicate your results. Although there will always be companies with English as their medium of communication, options are lesser
Hi mam I hope you are fine..I m from india .. I m planning to do ms in Germany from htw Berlin .I did graduation in mechanical engineering after that I did a course in data science and currently working as a data scientist . Mam I want to ask you something important .. mam does it make difference while searching a job because if our bachelor's ..I mean I saw few job posting in Germany which want background in cs or statistics..I had a chat with senior ,he told me that if you have experience and master degree in that field then it doesn't matter what was your bachelor's degree. You can apply for that job ..but I again wanted to confirm this thing. because I. Going to pay so much money for my master's in data science and if I won't get a job then I ll broke coz I m from a very middle class or not so rich family. Please mam help me out
Hi Same here, did you find out the answer and started your MS?
Hi 👋 rez..I am from India currently iam at my final year of my master's in statistics could you please tell me the difference and scope between doing master in data science in Germany and getting placed there in Germany or should I do job here in India for experience and come there to Germany ?
Hi Jayadeep, given your background, I don't think you need a Master's in DS degree. If you look at this video czcams.com/video/6ej3RzD6rMY/video.html, I am talking here about what companies prefer, and they really prefer candidates with DS experience. So it might be tough to compete here if you are a fresh grad.
Hello Reza
Is the Udacity data analysis nano degree
Course is enough for getting a job as data analysts in German,
Or do I need something else ?!
I have a bachelor degree of management an economic.
Hello, I don't think it is enough but It could be a good start. :) I prefer coursera.
oops. I think I misread it, if Data analyst. Your background is good! You just have to learn the Big data tools like Tableau, powerBI, or some database skills. And don't forget the language skills :)
At the same time they are wondering, why Germany is far behind in the field of AI
Hey hii , I'm a 2nd yr ece branch engineer from India and I'm interested ms in data science but my background is not in CS , so I'm learning from outside (free course) for data science. So mi eligible for ms in data science in German university , and what's the requirement to get in German university , plz help!
Hi @Prince. ece engineer is still technical. you have a lot of math courses and I guess some programming too. to get a german uni, I would suggest you research the uni first and get their requirements in their website. different uni might have different requirements.
Hey Theresa !!!! Is learning German language is important to manage out there?
Hey Adarsh, yes :) German language is really important. For your daily activities, and also looking for jobs. there are more german language jobs than english ☺️
@@datawithrez thank you for your reply 👍😁
How about Talend? Is it been used in data science?
At least in my experience in the company, it is used but by the data engineer/soft ware engineer involving in data or by BI developer. As a data scientist or the data analyst we are not using it.
I am planning to do masters in data science in Germany, how hard is to get a job in Germany with 0 years of experience ?
if you are aiming for full time. it is difficult. I made a video on how many years of experience company prefers in my channel. If it's internship then it really depends on your previous skills.
I am quality analyst in a bpo sector non technical..... Now I want to change my career as a data scientist. I have started my preparation in udemy. But I felt that I am going in wrong way. So can you please suggest me how to start and from where to start. How to do internship or where can I get best course which makes me ready for the job
Please help me in this and thanks a lot for your video
Hi Chaitanya, have you checked my other videos? Like my DS journey or How to transition to DS? I talked there some ways on how to position yourself to get internship such as building your own project in github and the likes. in my recent vid I also recommended good books and videos in the description box and what math to learn, stuff like that. If you are still lost, you can contact me in instagram and see how I can help :)
@@datawithrez thanks for your reply. Sry I haven't check.. I will have a look on specified videos and will contact you on instagram.
hii, videos is to informative, actually i have question, currently I'm in final year , from EC stream , so is it easier to me get admission in data scientist or relevant field in germany ?
Hey, Thank you. did you mean university admission? I think it really depends, some universities have some requirements and some doesn't but since you already have a technical background, perhaps the chance is higher compared to non-technical. :)
@@datawithrez yes university admission. ok, that means it depends on the university . Thanks for your info
Hi,
How can I get a job in Europe with B. Tech degree and two years of experience as a data scientist in India
Work as a service provider
Hallo...
did you first did ausbildung or did u already have a bachelor degree before in ur country?
Hi RuthBale, I already have education before in my home country too. then did masters here in Germany at Frankfurt School of Finance and Management
Hey after completing masters in international business, can we land in the role of data analyst or data science after having skills like SQL, python, Power Bi or tableau in Germany,
Plz answer
it's not impossible, at the end I think this depends on their requirements, your competition, your experience in the data field, etc.
@@datawithrez thankyou 🙂

@@datawithrez actually that was my question that either i have to apply there (germany)with some experience or as a fresher? i have no experience yet.
You can apply even if you don’t have experience yet. there is nothing to loose but of course there is also no guarantee even if you have experience or not. it really depends how much you fit on the job you are applying to.
Did you got the job bro?
Is masters in data science mandatory to get a job on data science in Germany.
No it is not. But most of the companies requires higher educational level. Check out my other vlog about this.. :)

@@datawithrez Thanks for reply madam, I have 4 years work experience in IT SUPPORT. iam interested in data analytics rather than data scientist, So any chance on getting data analyst job in Germany from India
Hey, I think IT support jobs are far off from Analyst jobs. Although you have the technical skills but the challenge is convincing them that you can do analyst jobs. what is your status in databases, BI tools? how good is your data knowledge? I think asking these questions will give you an estimate on your chance because there's also a lot of competition. You can maybe look at job descriptions in analyst jobs in Germany and see how much you match :)

You mean in Data Science? I think it still depends on your skills, experience and language. More options if you know German then maybe it's easier than just knowing english.
Ariund 60 k usd a year? Its pretty low.
Yes and No 😂 For an entry level position. This video was 2 year ago. Also, prices here in Germany are not that high. Personally, I can still save around 45% of my net income after basic needs + leisure budget (holidays, etc). At the end, I think it depends on your lifestyle too.

What about the language requirements?
There are more jobs that requires German language, than English. depends on the nature of the company.
