    1)Did you have to leave your job as Biologist, to do online learning for DS. How many hours did you study in a day or per Week (I know it largely depends on one's learning capability).
    2)Did you have any mentors to guide you through this journey.
    3)Could you make a video on your journey of selecting/applying for different Universities. Best Universities you have considered.
    4)What are the difficulties you have faced while studying in University

      Hi Divya :) Thank you for your questions. I study programming and DS while I am still doing my Bio research degree (all self learning). I do it on the side. mostly every night or weekends or whenever I have the time. Before, I study at most 2-3 hours per day when I was still a biologist, more on the weekends. It depends really whenever I have free time. But when I was in the Uni here in Germany I study on avg. 4-6 hours per day except for classes. depends on the subject :)
      2. I don't have any mentors, just like you I also just look on youtube who are the data scientists and what it feels like. It inspires me :)
      for questions 3 and 4, I might make short videos for it :)

Nevertheless, legal knowledge is very important since there's a lot of ethics involved in Data Science :) especially here in EU we have to follow gdpr which sometimes can limit your data resources or uses of your data. Hey, thanks! Basically, you have a big chance on getting accepted if you already have a technical background (ie comp. sci, engg, physica, math) and all the public uni requires german B1 I guess. Most of the private ones are okay with no German, they teach in english but I cannot talk in behalf of all the uni. you can check out their websites and see the requirements. German language in general will give you more job opportunities, this still depends on the company if they want you to talk german or not but mostly they want you to talk german especially for smaller start up companies.Take care!

    Thank you for this information. I am a sociologist but I want to change my profile into Data Science. I study Media Analysis in Germany. Do you recommend any German university open to accept student from non IT background?

      Look into data science or computer science conversion degrees in the UK; they are made for people with non-computing backgrounds. Some of them are online, so they may be a good option for you if you can’t move.

      Hi @Simbol, what schools did you checked out? As for me, my school was private therefore they don't have very strict requirements about it compared to public schools. I tried applying to public uni before and even I got PhD they won't allow me to have MSDS but they are willing to put me in the bachelors in DS which for is not a good bargain

    • @datawithrez
      @datawithrez  Před 2 lety +1

      I did not have tricks with me except that I got lucky that they are looking for DS students and I got scholarship. To get the scholarship I just had a compelling story to tell and personal interview should be good.

    Hello Rez.
    I am from non-technical background. Working as a Sales and Marketing professional in a manufacturing firm here in India.
    My company doesn't possess any positions like data scientist or data analyst.
    I have knowledge of DS, ML, ANN, CNN, RNN, LSTM, Time series, fb prophet which I gained from a reputable online institution and they certified me as a data scientist
    AlI need a career transition from sales to data science.
    I have applied so many companies in India but they require some experience people.
    Tell me whether I can apply directly into German tech companies from India or do I need any prior experience
    My age is 32

    • @datawithrez
      @datawithrez  Před 3 lety

      Hi Mohammad, thanks for your comment. this is interesting because you have these knowledge already, I think it would be hard to apply directly to tech companies in Germany without prior experience. The competition would be too tough, I would suggest that you first apply theses knowledge in your own field. Data science is so applicable in Marketing and sales, you can try machine learning for targeted marketing, or regression models for forecasting your sales and once you do this you'll initially have the experience. Make sure you highlight these applications of machine learning models in your resume. These combination of fields is really strong in banking and other industries that applied DS. :)

      Don't worry about the age. You have experience on other things too. I even know a person who's 30 and still doing internship. companies won't care about that that much. They will care more what you can offer to the table :)

    • @datawithrez
      @datawithrez  Před 3 lety +1

      @@katoracut86 hey, it really depends on the skillset and your experience. I wouldn't recommend quitting job completely :) perhaps apply data science in sales. Look for machine learning models that could solve your problems in sales, perhaps predictive analytics. Once you have this proof of concept and you already applied it, this could serve as your "experience" and maybe you could slowly look for DS jobs once you have it. But there will be no guarantee.. experience is really important :)
