    storytelling is such a valuable asset for data analysts that I got my dream internship, and beat out a lot more experienced candidates, from mostly how I displayed soft skills ( good communication, good storytelling skills, good people skills, team work experience, passion for the sector) the senior vice president of the company said he liked how i explained my passion, likewise my line manager said the same thing. so if you do get to that interview stage, i will say, a personable presence and attitude will get you a long way.

    Fax - I spent a lot of time learning SQL, Tableau and Python but my current Data Analyst job also uses Looker and I’ve been learning Looker like no one else’s business. Politics are real too.

      Whats your verdict on being a data analyst? and do you think its feasible to transition into ML engineer from this role

    • @atyt22
      @atyt22 Před měsícem +2

      @@MrPrebuttal I think it’s a great occupation, I know every company and industry is different. I’m sure it’s feasible with enough fundamental knowledge and experience. Maybe if you go from analyst > scientist > then ML. Think big though like over 6-10 years

    Hey Rohan, i came across your videos last week. I'm here again today.😅
    I'm just starting out on my data analyst journey. Currently learning excel.
    I definitely have taken notice of the things you've shared today. Thank you.

    The most vital part was you just talked about 'office politics'. Sad but true it influences a lot on someone performance. Even I see someone has less quality but 'oiling' boss and maintaining office politics make him priority.

    Great video man! Out of curiosity how feasible is it for someone to switch between these different data roles if you end up in one role for a decent amount of time? Always worried about being stuck

      I am not Rohan but I can answer this from watching Alex the Analyst and Avery Smith. From their point of you, you can spend 2-3 years in each role to move up in the data hierarchy or job hop for increase salary. You can also do this after a year in a data role, but it is not recommended unless you’re moving management to management roles. Now, like Rohan talks about data analyst have multiple titles for said role. Stay mindful of this even when applying for data manager roles. Specially with interchangeable roles of data analyst and data scientist. Sometimes those roles will do the other roles job.

    First of all, a very informative, helpful, and honest video. I do have a question about the job of a Data Scientist.
    I am currently close to graduating from school and I am planning to study Data science at the University of Applied Sciences. I am interested in the field of Data Science, however, I am not the most skilled when it comes to presentations or PowerPoints. I actually try to avoid them if I can. As I saw after investing some time into this topic and as mentioned in this video as well, soft skills/ communication skills are very important later in the job. Do you think a career on this path is still possible/ realistic for me? I would like to focus more on the technical part, similar to a software engineer, and less on the communication part, as I am not a good speaker.

    Hey Rohan, do you think someone in civil engineering can go into data analyst?
    Did you ever have regrets for not using your degree?

      I have a civil engineering degree, and I'm currently learning data analytics.
      For me, I don't think I have any regret, although switching career might be hard! Going into data analyst is what I would love to do now and where I could possibly see myself in the future.
