I loved the “they have guns and we don’t so we’re not going to ask them to stop” comment lol
Roman ALWAYS has to take a swipe at Americans who shoot. One of these days, "gun-free" Roman is going to be attacked by a bear and he'll throw a Go-Pro at it. You have to be insane to venture into the Rockies unarmed.
Same.
Can also vouch that above sea level hiking is a lot harder than at sea level. A Florida boy hiking red rocks had me feeling so out of shape.
The off-road videos are my favorite and the way I was originally introduced to your channels. Thanks for the long form video guys.
Thanks for watching!
Sr5 owners finally get our time to shine!! Who need them fancy TRD PRO stuff. All about ATrac and skinny peddle 😅😅 hammer down and let it fly ! Thx tfl peeps
That's what I'm saying 😅 Love my SR5 Premium. I don't off road but after watching all TFL videos I feel like I can 😂😂
@@leechburglights take it off on dirt roads to just get a feel. They are a lot better there than in pavement. I personally don't enjoy the road manners feels like a full time workout to just keep it centered. But the fit and finish and style is hard to give up. I wanted a limited when I bought mine. But hated the 20 inch rims. I like bigger gumballs in the road personally
you guys should publish a TFL great drives book. filled with pointers for off-roading and trail maps.
Agree
Great episode Andre and Roman and a beautiful 4Runner Grant!
You guys are great. I may not always agree with you guys (especially about EV's) but I appreciate your effort to give every vehicle a fair and impartial assessment.
What do they say that you don't like about EVs ?❔️
Much appreciated!
@@TFLtalk You People are quick 👌
@icosthop9998 they advocate for evs and say that there so great and in reality there mostly trash and are far worse for the environment than any suv could ever be. Because the battery production and the battery disposal is horrible for the environment. and that's not even bring up the fact of the way alot of the rare elements that are used in batterys are mined in 3rworld countries with slave labor. So basically what I'm saying is people shouldn't be advocating for these company's that the government are trying to force us into for reasons that I don't need to get into on here when everything they say about them are completely false or totally skewed
They are far from fair and impartial. They are notorious for kissing Jeep and Ford butt.
Another great video TFL. Keep making the sausage.
Cant wait to see the GX on these trails
CA transplants in Denver/Boulder/etc..just love the the shooting practice in the rest of Colorado. Great video as always guys...!
Love the military hummer/JLTV look of the build you did where the wheels/tires do not stick out past the fender flares.
"Just Brass Balls." I loved it, Roman. Thanks, guys, for another great video.
Our pleasure!
I appreciate the background information on this video
I have an easy fix for the squeaky RTT. Go to hardware store and get a small sheet of 1/8” rubber. Cut into small pieces to fit between the tent and the rails it’s mounted to. No more squeak after that. Mine did the same thing
It's nice to wake up to you guys.
Beautiful course. The A-track is impressive.
I like this type of video. The behind the scenes.
If you are locking everything from the get go you should also have ATRAC on in the beginning.
I can’t wait til they get the new Land Cruiser out there to really put it thru its paces
I am an SR5 owner so this was a great watch
great video. I love any behind the scenes video's. I think it's good for people to know how much time is really put in just to get a good 15 or 20 minute video.
I was surprised they don't have guns , I thought everyone in Murica had guns 😂
Awesome rig Grant, looks great and obviously performs well. Great video about both the vehicle and off roading 101.
The more I see the current Gen 4R the more I want one. I hate that all the truck platforms are starting to look like each other, ala front end styling. I appreciate distinctive styling, not cost saving similarities….
Yes, TFL does have the best real-world reviews, and news, and ... well, ya know😊
Awesome thanks guys.
Glad you enjoyed it
Like watching the conditions of the trails -- live up the road in Ft. Collins
Never been off-road but that was really fun to watch and got me semi-interested in off-roading potentially
You guys are awesome, thank you!
Our pleasure!
Very enjoyable show today guys, thank you. PS I'm thankful as well Roman...great statement
Our pleasure!
I have been offroading for 25 years, and I never ever tell anybody to lock up all their diffs to start out. If its a specific obstacle that we know requires lockers, sure. Otherwise, you don't turn them on. If you get "stuck" by spinning one tire in front and one in back, then sure, turn a locker on. Typically if you get "stuck" with open diffs, turning on lockers will get you out. If you get stuck with lockers on, then its time to break out the winch.
But this was a cool video :)
Some say that you won’t get stuck as often as you did before since now you know that that locking your diffs BEFORE you get stuck PREVENTS you from getting stuck in the first place.
ARB locker next mod
You guys talked about changing trail conditions when you do your testing. You guys are pros and it's automatic for you but checking the weather forecast for beginners is very important. Being a Colorado native I can't stress this enough. Might be sunny and beautiful the first half of the day but weather conditions change quickly here. Sometimes it's best to head back down the mountain and wait out the storm at a safe location. Hopefully far away from where the bullets are landing.
Great video, beautiful area. What was the cost of this vehicle with mods Vs the new one? Seems like the last model is better compared to the latest .
I think an awesome Patreon only video idea would be behind the scenes type videos. Uncut between the takes kind of videos. Maybe even ones about the staff and their favorite cars, what the drive daily etc.
Thanks for the great suggestion.
That's a great idea.
23:35 4runner water fording depth is the height of the tire, so on his setup roughly 32-33 inches.
Nathan is missing, but anyway: whenever it's the original three (Roman, Nathan, Andre), in whichever combination, it's always fun. Out go all the pedantic details, and we are left with entertainment plus knowledge, but well and judiciously dispensed. More of these videos, please!
I appreciate each and every video TFL puts out. As for those with the RUDE remarks on your health or what not... Screw 'em all. Part of being on YT is dealing with Jerks...
The biggest problem imo with using all off-road tech all the time is that you'll never learn good or bad lines and offroading in general, especially if you have a twin locker vehicle.
Can all the parts be ordered in one place? That build looks awesome!!!
Max water ford depth is probably analogous to that Toyota publicizes for the similar FJ Cruiser, 27.5”.
The only thing I’m confused about is what goes to the ranch and what doesn’t. How do you decide what vehicles does what? Especially in offering a fair comparison.
Will Blue Berry be going back to the Steps? Really need to see what it can or can't do.
I'm not into offroading but man that 4Runner looks nice! Very cleanly done 👍
What offset are the wheels? Anything done to mitigate rubbing?
I can't wait to see the renegade do this trail.
Also, there's such a thing as too much old top gear? How much is it? Lol
Hey Guys I have had a Dodge truck in water up to the door handles :( no I would not do that water with a friend’s truck. Nice 4Runner but for Me at 63 years old I’ll stick with a ground tent as I have to pee a lot at night. You are correct the Nathan method works and really works well when someone else pays the repair bill like when I was in the Marine Corps you would be surprised what a Truck and Jeep can do. That does look like a nice trail to test things out. TC
Thats the same trail Grandma takes to Bingo.
Did you and your staff take any offroad training using your trucks and SUVs to go off roading?
Most of us have some off-road training, but not in our trucks. This Andre speaking: I had an opportunity to drive & learn with off-road instructors who train U.S. military to drive off-road.
I just want to know what boots Roman is wearing.
If Andre would have kept up a constant speed and not kept jabbing the breaks and stopping in the water he would of been just fine because he would of had a small bow wake and would of kept the water from breaking the fan
🔥🔥🔥🔥
A moose once bit my sister.
TRD Sport Tacoma here. Love it! Love it!! Love you guys!!!
I miss gold mine hill
Me and my wife started off-roading like 3 years ago. We can air down our forerunner in about 90 seconds. What is going on here
Roman 'We didnt air down because ____ ' Mica
Offroading at full highway pressure is such a bad idea for so many different reasons, yet TFL consistently does it all the time
I've HAD to do it...before I got the Maddox compressor from Harbor Freight or if it was pouring rain and I didn't feel like standing in the rain deflating/inflating and exposing the new compressor to the rain. I found that, at least with my compressor, that it is WAY more of a pain to deflate than inflate. So, I recently got the Staun deflators that I'm going to set to 28psi (I like to go a little faster on the dirt roads with my new 2024 ZR2, so I want a little extra air in my tires to prevent bending a rim). But yeah, I get it.
@@kx8960 InDeflate 2 hose kits airs down my 35s on my 4Runner in less than 10 min, twin ARB underhood compressor airs them back from 15 to 37psi in less than 15 min. Highly recommend
1:10 Basically, you are not in a warzone. You are in US of A.
Nothing wrong with that.
I find it interesting that 21 years ago Jeep built the most capable and reliable, affordable, off road vehicle. The 2003 manual Rubicon should be the benchmark you use, in all off road tests .
However, the 21 year old Jeep has to be driven on paved roads to where they want to test a vehicle off road.
@@DK-zd2cu Obviously we understand were your priority's are .
@@rodgoodMany are confused as to what my priorities are since they are not stated in your reply.
@@DK-zd2cu maybe you are to only one confused.
They never air down lol. Always some excuse
No kidding. Takes me less than 10 min to air down my 5th gen 4Runner on 35s all the way from 37 - 18 psi. Twin ARB compressor airs them back up in 15 min tops
They need to invest in InDeflate kits and more portable air compressors.
Does he actually use this slowrunner? It looks pretty clean and offroad scratch and scrap free
Wait that 4runner doesn't have a manual shifter for the 4x4?
Only TRD models do.
@@guillermomontejo935 not on the new gen... same as the Tacoma
Y’all could have made it through the water
you CANNOT watch too much old Top Gear.
I recommend changing the dome and front map lights with Lasfit LEDs
Too bad you sold your lifted jk it would have been great for that video.
It doesn't matter where you are or what you're doing. tyres are the most important choice you'll make
Keep up the behind the scenes videos. The less polished videos are more interesting
That's the plan!
I've lived in Florida where the people are too afraid to walk to their mailbox to get their mail without carrying a gun it's crazy a bunch of crazy gun nuts. I've had guns I've gone shooting but that is a mental case. If you can't walk to the mailbox without carrying a gun And you feel that unsafe then you're living in the wrong country. ridiculous.
you sound like a probelm
Roman, fire arms are the same as 4X4s. You’d rather have them and not need them than need them and not have them. Like off roading, you need to practice with them to be proficient.
Some say they would rather have the American Military.
Love the sound of freedom in the background!
Roman doesn't. He's from Communist Czechoslovakia.
Mei wuv duh sownd fweiduhm in duhs bwakgwownd twoo eince
that right of way comment was a bit dangerous. at least here in BC, Canada, most of our offroad driving is on logging roads, and downhill trucks DEFINITELY have right of way because they literally cannot stop. That has extended to be the "assumed default" even on roads where logging (or other industry with heavy equipment/loads) are not present.
That being said, when 2 recreational users encounter each other, we generally just go for "whatever makes sense", as you did here. Be it "who needs to maintain momentum", "who has space to move over", "who has the more capable rig", etc. But if you aren't clear or aren't communicating directly for whatever reason, downhill gets right of way.
The background noise is there to remind you that you're in a free country. I wouldn't complain if I were you!
Trashing American Public Lands is there to remind you that you’re in a free democracy. We wouldn’t trash them if we were you.
@@DK-zd2cu Democracy has nothing to do with freedom. Democracy is a soft variant of communism, and rarely in the history of ideas has it been taken for anything else.
@@Youssef-xo8vwStates “the background noise is there to remind you of freedom” which is literally taking place in a state within a democracy, and then states “democracy is soft communism”. Some say this is a major logical fallacy.
@@DK-zd2cu If they were shooting on private land, you wouldn't complain about trashing anything... the only problem is the "public" part of the land.
Get the logic ? 😄
@@Youssef-xo8vwWe thank you for perfectly articulating the difference between trashing public vs. private land.
Nooooo they said dude
Extremely disappointed yall wussed out and did not attempt driving Uber the razor rocks. What's the point of bringing out a capable vehicle then. Cmon guys live a little. Jeez!
What was the point of this video? That 4runner isn't "built" it has tiny tires. You didn't even go over anything. It's a mall crawler, just say so. 😂
Not everything has to be able to clear the Rubicon dude.
Trevisk says one who laughs at their own post has nothing to say.
Tent-platform.
Two iron curtain communists open the video bitching about The Second Amendment.
Is that the Amendment that gives all Americans the right to free speech because you seem to have forgotten about that one. OR perhaps you’d like to help come help clean up the mess of spent casing that now liter this trail?
@@TFLtalk No, you Colorado liberal. The Second Amendment is the right to bear arms. The ignorance at TFL is astounding. Obviously, you gradiated (sic) from a public school where they taught DEI and wokeness instead of American History and Civics.
People like you are the reason I don't hire anyone under 50 years of age.
Why didn't YOU clean the spent casings off the trail YOU use? TFL is all in on EVs and saving the planet. I police my brass.
@@TFLtalk Never get sucked into a political argument ...just a bad business decision.
Some are saying this logical fallacy diverts attention away from the American Civics principle regarding how trashing American Public Land that is for all American Citizens to use is inherently not a virtue.
@@TFLtalkGreat Video!
