Is it possible to ignore all the best practices, break all the rules, and still be hugely successful?
In my opinion, yes. But there is one condition - you have to be really good. Here are 5 websites of amazing agencies that ignore all the best practices about UX, marketing, typography, and yet are still thriving - because their work simply kicks ass.

They are visual heavy/experience targeted sites/agencies - in these cases wins simplicity and speed of browsing content, or big jump into experience or experimental/interesting usage to showcase their "creativity". That said, all these sites easily showcase what type of clients/project they would like you to go for with them.

That would suck, to buy, let them know you bought, even come back to share your experience and you don't even get a response.

To be honest i dont like too much animation on a page. I know its trendy but it feels so distracting and messy...

Personally, I think they all suck. I really dislike that alle the agencies these days try to throw as much fancy animations and micro interactions as possible at you without any reason what so ever. It's so anoying - and boring, because you see it al the time. A portfolio should be a blank canvas to present your projects on. But no, they have to bombard you with all those visuals to show you how fancy they are. My gosh.. just let the work speak for itself for god sake! Look at the Website of Wolff Olins. This is how it should be done.

Their customers are business owners who are not even design inclined all they want is just a website for their business simple and they are regular buyers no designers.
