I unfortunately owned my MK4 R32 at the wrong time in my life because I had a young family and it just wasn’t practical enough. They just look so much better than the MK5.

Love these supercharged R32's 🔥🔥
360bhp at around 120bhp per litre sounds a nice goldilocks number, fast enough to satisfy without killing the engine/gearbox/clutch.
Nice I just picked up a vf engineering stage 3 supercharger can't wait to install it

Nice! You brought back great and sad memories, had a MK4 R32 in Deep Blue Pearl, had the Stage2 VF ENGINEERING SUPER CHARGER with Intercooler and pleanty of go fast parts to much to list
The day I lost her in 2012 to a flood 😢 it had only 28k miles on it 😔. Gave me joy and trophies 🏆 at shows. Enjoy your R32 they are awesome compared to today's four banger R.

Brings back memories of when I had a VF charger on mine, the unmistakeable sound of chattering gears. Been running boost on my MKIV R32 for last 15 years, swapped the VF for a Rotrex C30 in 2009, and upgraded to a C38 in 2013. Can’t beat the sound of a VR6 with boost, MPG sucks though.

Wish I still had mine but I had to get money together for a golf rallye project. I’ve got the same r32 set up and supercharger waiting to go in. It will be finished one day!

I’ve always wanted a 3door MK4 r32. Unfortunately prices are just through the roof for a good one now. And I couldont afford the fuel on my commute. I have a 2.0L petrol MK4 instead which I got when I was 18. Been driving it 3 years now. It was all I could afford to insure that was bigger than the 1.4 when I was 18. Good cars though. Nearly 20 years old now. Future classics for sure. Especially the R32 and anniversary
My old man used to have the 2.0l petrol. It’s an absolute outrage that they even gave that car a GTI badge. 115bhp 2.0 8v as a GTI 😂 they really lost their way did VW with the MK4 (aside from the anniversary and R32 which were both fantastic). The MK5 GTI was so good because it had to be after the awful MK4.
@@JC_46 yeah this is true. I’ve never really driven a true ‘GTI’ but mine isn’t a sporty car. But it’s not a bad car by any means- a good mile muncher and cruiser as I think most MK4s were. but it handles like a wheelbarrow on stock suspension with that torsion beam at the back. It’s hard to find a decent MK4 now. Keep toying with the idea of a MK5 GTI or a Polo 6C GTI to daily drive. I keep reading the MK5 is so much better from a driving perspective, but interior quality is a bit lacking compared to MK4.
@@danl4252 yeah agree with you, a great mile muncher and incredibly reliable because the engine is just ticking over really with the sort of power it has. Just a weird choice from VW to even release it because the better engined GTI was the 1.8T. The MK5 is a great platform though, and handles so much better. Also it’s pretty timeless, in that I don’t think you look at a MK5 now and think it looks like an old car but the MK4 does (not necessarily a bad thing, I like the boxy look of the MK4). I’m lucky enough to own a MK5 R32 but I’d definitely look at the MK5 GTI’s if you fancied moving to a ‘proper’ GTI.
@@JC_46 yeah is a bit of a weird choice. I think originally they had a 1.8 20valve non Turbo and then replaced it with the 2.0L (which I believe is very simillar engine to the MK3 GTI) but the 1.8T was obviously the engine to have. I would have been quids in now as clean 1.8T’s seem to have gone up in value since then. I just didn’t have money for insurance at the time. Very nice, best of both worlds with the MK5 R32. Refined and has the noise there when you want it and the 4motion. Will keep my eyes peeled for a tidy MK5 GTI, hopefully I can find a non molested looked after one.

So glad to see a MK4 on here… More than welcome to thrash my MK4 if you head over to the USA… I have a N/A R32 with KW’s and more handling focused setup. Keys are yours to have a go if you like 👍🏼 (or you should check out wookies in the woods)
R32 owner here, love my Mk5 and it's the better all rounder but the Mk4 has the classic looks for sure.

That is with an induction kit and you can't exactly just take the diverter valve off it. The air needs somewhere to go when the throttle closes.
Great looking, lovely sounding, sadly they feel so FWD… lovely car anyway
It was horrendously underpowered when it first care out. Test drove it and it was pretty lethargic, even by 2003 standards.
It’s not the 1st Gen R at all……you have the 1989 VW Golf Rallye supercharged G60 to thank for that Monica, that was the first R VW all 5000 built at the VW motorsport plant in Brussels
I can’t remember the Rallye being called a Golf R….but then again you are the expert.
I want a newer car too but I can’t afford 40-60k for a used mk7 golf r or rs3 or ttrs that I want. That’s why I’m in a mk1 TT
I know a lot of people love these cars but I will say I find them so boring and strangely slow to drive , the 2.0 tsi 888 are so much more fun .
Think the supercharger needs a rebuild but sounds mint
It's been fully rebuilt not long ago.
Now on eBay after 3 weeks ownership and for £21k when he only paid £14k. Talk about CZcams tax.
Need to do you research buddy, you seen my old add of my previous supercharged mk4r32, check the registration 😉 I sold that car to dream car giveaway in the end . I've now got this one. it's been a 3 year gap .
