I think I would have also stressed the use of rudder and how important coordination of flight is with slow flight and high angle of attack especially at high power settings.

Jason, I can't thank you enough for stressing repeatedly, what I'm coming to discover as must-learn-basics! I'm around the corner from a Checkride, and I've really wanted to work on my landings but most especially my short-field landings, which I've heard a couple people have failed their Checkrides over. Anyway, like most beginners slowflight helps you learn to trust the stability of the plane at low speeds and be more comfortable with it. I've landed too high, too hot, floating the plane, and then I feel very foolish. Slow flight, along with one hand on the yoke, one hand on the throttle, and soon enough I'm feeling like a pro! Thank-You so very much for these videos!!!

Babying the flaps also shows stability. That’s what we want in approaches to landings.
I love to practice slow flight, just a knot over stall speed, I have the vacuum style stall warning horn witch change when approaching the actual stall! And, Your teaching style is outstanding. Thanks.

When you talked about trimming after reaching the airspeed you are shooting for, I remember my instructor saying "pitch,power,THEN trim"

The ground reference maneuvers are all about landing as well I am guessing. Turns and steep turn are about avoiding spins, as are stalls, but stall practice is also about landing and takeoff safety.

I need a way to remember the steps/ procedure for all that. Should I make a checklist and go over and over until I remember and understand better? Any tips on how to know what to do if I’m. It in the plane often. But still study everything. Different instructors have different methods. Just a lot of info to remember. And learn/fully understand
Hi Jason ; I am would like to come for a week; what i need is to get sharp on all manuvers and take the check ride. I failed the first time and quit; but i can't stop dreaming, so i wanted resume my training.
Is that Marco Island? I wouldn't mind going there to learn how to fly if it looks like that from up there.
Also, it's probably preferable to practice slow-flight in small blocks of time to prevent the engine from overheating... in slow-flight, the engine is running at a high RPM, but doesn't get all the airflow cooling it needs because of the lower-than-normal airspeed...

I hear a lot of what you need to do but not why it has to be done this way. Thats why there are so many accidents. Flying is taught as a monkey skill not a understanding.
Simulate typical accidents.
Example demonstrate failed landing attempt resulting in a go around but forget to retract flaps on takeoff. Then retract all flaps at once the plane will stall and roll. Natural act is to add ailerons but this causes adverse yaw wing stall roll into ground.
Show at slow flight the ailerons cause adverse yaw and possible wing stall. Teach why the Rudder is you friend on landing, slow flight.

Just a thought: If slow flight is used to help improve our landings, should we be performing it while our aircraft is trimmed for its final approach speed rather than hands off? This way we get used to how the aircraft would feel in an actual flare/transition.
why the carb heat?
In most carbureted aircraft you always want the carb heat on when the power is pulled below the green arc as that is when the engine becomes most susceptible to carb ice blocking the intake.
