    YES, it's so nice to see when people actually rate a clutch by the torque - NOT that 'power' BS! I would also suggest, for those who are winding their engine to very high rpm, that 'burst strength' may also be an important criteria.
    However, you didn't mention the importance of a Marcell Spring, which is the primary reason for a smoother, more progressive engagement - some standard and aftermarket 'organic' friction plates didn't have them and are rather abrupt in take-up, there are aslo some rare sintered and ceramic friction plates that do have them and they are much more suitable for high performance street driving.
    You also failed to mention the importance of the hub springs and their affect on general driving, as they also have a significant affect on clutch take-up - and the reduction in inertia using a plain hub has on the vehicle.
    With the pressure plate, it is worth checking with the supplier as, by altering the diaphram's effective pivot point there can be an increase on clamping force with a stronger spring, but the same pedal effort but with a longer pedal travel.
    You also missed out, completely, the different clutch diameter options that are available, especially if replacing the flywheel with a ligher one - even the number of friction plates.

      Yeeeep. I was asked “how much power will your car make?”, which I can’t answer, but I do have an idea of the cylinder pressure/torque with the stock turbo and cam in my car.
      I’ll be upgrading both, so I’m not sure where my useable rpm range will end up.

    You forgot the release aka"throwout" bearing. Sprung vs unsprung disc. Unsprung makes it harder to drive if you are a noob, but less to go wrong. A cheap release bearing can be trouble so check its ply. If it's tight your good, if not get the oem one from the dealer for about $50. Or look for a national or timken bearing.
    I am looking for a specific piece of info on how to identify disc compatibility spline count and offset. Still haven't found it. The options for my BMW were limitless, but for the jeep not so much. I dont want a sprung disc. Not gonna race it, but a sprung disc make engagement jerky.

    I have a ZL1 with the engine upgraded to 800 HP at the crank shaft with the Torque increased to near 750. Mostly street use, I cannot locate the OEM Clutch specs for the PRE Modified Engine 580 HP, and am wondering what you recommend as a clutch replacement. Some folks recommend installing a clutch rated similarily as the engine HP and Torque? The dealership recommends OEM for the Pre modified engine specs...also a a 1000 HP rated clutch has been suggested?

      @BrodeyDoverosx Před 5 měsíci +1

      Bingo. He didn’t mention DMF/SMF. And…generally, I’d recommend a DMF to reduce shock load to your drivetrain components. You’ll also maintain livability, which is incredibly under rated when modifying a car.

    • @josephsabatino7857
      @josephsabatino7857 Před 4 lety

      How stiff is it? The clutchmasters pressure plate is supposed to be just BARELY stiffer than OEM since it has a hi leverage system.

    • @HappyHopping11
      @HappyHopping11 Před 4 lety

      @@josephsabatino7857 I read it in another youtube video that said the FX400 is stiff. So I assume the FX300 is just as stiff. Someone also told me "If you're getting a clutch that's meant to accommodate extra torque, the pressure plate is going to be stiffer, making the clutch pedal feel much firmer than stock. If you get something that feels like a stock clutch, it's probably not gonna have a higher torque capacity than the OEM."

    • @josephsabatino7857
      @josephsabatino7857 Před 4 lety

      @@HappyHopping11 I had an FX350 and the pedal was basically like OEM. Hardly stiffer. Maybe just a hair stiffer. Yes a higher rated clutch will have a pressure plate with more clamping force but ClutchMasters has their own design to where there's a bunch more leverage which alleviates the stiffer pedal. Think of trying to use a very short wrench to tighten a bolt versus using a very long one with a breaker bar. Tons more leverage.

    • @josephsabatino7857
      @josephsabatino7857 Před 4 lety
