IMPORTANT NOTE: When placing back the fuel pump on the gasoline tank, first place fat outer rubber seal on the gasoline tank first before sliding in the fuel pump assembly in. There is an inner lip on the fat rubber seal that will get caught and will rip when tightening the big ring if you install the fuel assembly with the big rubber seal on the fuel assembly. If the big rubber seal rips, you will get a check engine code P0456. Once the big rubber seal in on properly set on the gasoline tank, it is easy to put the fuel pump assembly all the way on the seal, holding it in place with one hand and the other hand you can place the green plastic washer and the big ring. And while holding the fuel pump with one hand, you can start tightening the big ring until the blue mark. Don't ask me how I know this...
I won't ask how you know because it's currently happening to me, but did you also have any issues with fuel dashboard meter misreading the actual amount of gas in the tank? My tank is empty yet my meter sits at the first line after the letter "E". I know this bc my car shuts off exactly at that line and it turns on only after I pump some gas. Happened to me 2 times until I made the connection.

Is it absolutely necessary to use the Deatschwerks sock or is there a way of making the AEM one work? I intended on soldering the wires, so I didn't buy the DW install kit

You will still need to cut the stock fuel filter (fuel sock) clip with the Deatshweks fuel pump.

No I've taken my fuel pump out multiple times, it still holds fine.
Just dont f*ck up and get gas on it. I dropped the ball on this part and it melted all that adhesive.

GT86 IS the simplest to maintain. Is like the designers were actually meeting up with mechanics to figure out simpler ways for DIYers. The engine oil(even with top mount filter), the transmission fluids, diff fluid, wheels, suspension, headlights(front ones are the pain for the clips but easily doable), dash updates, ETC.
but if u looking for something cheaper than that. stick to a corolla, pref a 2010 and down models.
I had a code of P0087 what part of the fuel pump I need to replace just the fuel pump or the whole fuel kit

Why would someone do this to their stock car/engine? Pointless to do the pump and the flapper/trap door is only needed if you generate serious G's on the track.
An X-Acto saw or similar fine-toothed blade would be neater than melting through it with an abrasive disc. Don't use a screwdriver and hammer! You can easily make a wooden tool to span the top so opposing ears can be used to loosen and tighten the ring. Using pliers' handles with a C-clamp to lock it solid and act as a handle is another trick.
Lastly, the black goo should provide a seal or use a silicone sealant. It's there to keep fumes and liquids out of the cabin.
i bought a walbro 485 fuel pump and it seems to be too tall for the three clips that keep the fuel pump in place to the canister to clip down. is this normal?
I've just been running it without clipping the three clips back down and it's been fine.

No. That’s not the filter. It’s the white plastic part that the motor sits insides.

jacob augustin no it’s part of the assembly. It’s the piece that the pump was inside of.

don’t think so. the chirping i believe comes from the port injection

Berenger Christy I got a fuel pump upgrade from the manufacturer that fixed the chirp. It was also covered by warranty so I didn't pay a thing

Po Russki I got mine off of my warranty as well - there is a slight chirp every once in a blue moon but that goes away in 1-2 secs. Take it in to your dealership to have that taken care of under your warranty.
Run non ethanol gas and they will be gone instantly!

Emmanuel Rovirosa at the very least a voided warranty and the possibility the door sticks shut and does not allow any fuel in. doubt it would happen but went to the store and saw quite a huge price tag on the door. i think i will just stick with the fuel starvation i never noticed before (for now).

Jason Cheng, yeah looks like it in the vid too, so even more reason to really consider if this mod is necessary. for a track car i couod easily see it being a yes but as i said before, probably not for me (at least not right now)
It just clipped in there perfectly...like the manufacturer designed that flaw on purpose...just so people would buy the clip.

It's been a long time since my Japanese classes, but IIRC he's technically correct. In Japanese, the car is referred to as hachi roku, which translates as "eight six." If it were eighty-six, it would have been hachi ju roku. Seems like you're the one saying it wrong, so you should find yourself annoying instead.
