    As someone who's been through the gambit of every mod you can think of for these cars, here's what I would do if I have a stock 86 to start from scratch with, listed in the order I would do them in:
    1. Summer tires
    2. Alignment + camber bolts (-2 in front)
    3. Motul fluid in diff and transmission
    4. MTEC shift and clutch springs
    5. Whiteline bushing inserts (literally any combination of them)
    6. Tune
    7. Headers
    8. Coils + suspension adjustment kit
    Even doing just the first 5, you can completely transform this car for less than ~$500. These cars already have a decently low ride hight at stock so, unless you only care about looks, I personally wouldn't bother lowering it unless you're going all out with bumpsteer kits, control arms, etc. It already has a low enough center of gravity that adding any handling mod makes a drastic difference, especially on a street car.
    Happy tuning!

      @@MrMajoJA Hey ur cute😉

    • @skyty0
      @skyty0 Před 2 lety +5

      @@MrMajoJA Yes I can! Replacing you gear oil increases the lifespan of your trans and diff, and also increases performance. The difference felt in the diff is negligible (it's mainly for peace of mind), but changing the trans fluid is where this mod really shines. The difference is night and day. Shifts feel MUCH smoother over stock and the gearbox in general is much less notchy.
      No idea what the stock trans/diff fluid is, but it's likely cheap to save cost and I doubt it's as robust as any aftermarket gear oil you can buy. Changing your gear oil out with ANY 75W-90 fluid (even OEM fluid) will instantly improve response and longevity, so might as well replace it with something that's much much beefier than the stock fluid while you're at it, right? MOTUL 300 is my favorite, as it has tons of long term anti-wear additives and was designed specifically for brass synchros, which all 86s (even the new ones) are fitted with.

    Had a Corsa exhaust, then sold it went back to stock catback when I added headers.
    - Racecomp yellow springs/Bilstein B6, camber/crash bolts for added camber.
    - Gruppe-s header/Overpipe
    - OFT with custom tune
    - K&N drop in filter with a Perrin inlet hose
    - 17x8 wheels with stickier tires
    - High temp fluid with stoptech sports pads
    One simple mod I absolutely love are Mtec shift springs. They are cheap and relatively simple to install, and add a nice snappy feel between shifts.

      It’s for uel catless headers

  • @reliicx
    @reliicx Před 3 lety +10

    *MY OPINION AS AN OWNER OF ONE OF THE TWINS*
    1: Catless header all the way, equal length IMO sounds better and less raspy than UEL. Some equal header outperform uel in torque dip(ACE).
    2: OFT SUCKS. Ecutek and be done with.
    3: Tires. YES! I always recommend going with a square set up. 17x9/9.5 +35-40. Go with 18s lowered and you can say goodbye to your axles, 18s are doable but you’ll have to stay around 1-2 inch drop from stock height.. Works well even with stock power. I recommend everyone check out RT660 OR A052s for track use or Indy 500s for daily/street abuse.
    4: Personally I like Carbotech XP10s for track and XP6s for street and DBA rotors.
    5: Never heard of using a chip for “throttle response”. Just lighten up the drivetrain with LWFW and a driveshaft. Highly recommend whiteline bushings for diff,subframe, and trans. If you’re afraid to void warranty... do as you wish.
    6: I would not cheap this one out. Personally $1000 should be your bare minimum. Don’t believe the “this car has great handling” it has it’s flaws. Definitely can use more suspension tweaking, but it’s all up to you as the driver which way you want to take your build. Personally I would look into companies such as: Racecomp engineering, KWs, ST, Tein, and Ohlins. You will need rear LCAs to help with the negative camber it’ll produce from being lowered.
    7: Personally invidia N1 is exactly how it’s marketed, CHEAP. That’s all I’m going to say. Perrin is decent, but people have experience blow outs. I like the CSGxMXP, 70MM piping(good for NA OR FI)
    8: Yes, OEM FLOWS BEST. No need to debate.
    9: Personally, turbo all the way. It’s great for track use and street-able if the tune is set up right. If you really want SC, JRSC(Kraftwerks is the same)or Edelbrock IMO.
    This is my take on the matter. Overall, very good video detailing the twins’ “speed” flaw and addressing known changes that DOES change the car’s performance dramatically.

    Technically equal length headers are tuned to specific rpm ranges (usually somewhere in the top end) where with unequal length headers the tuning is for different rpm ranges on exhaust valve. The phenomenon that effects that also applies to intake runners. Both also apply to rotories because the seals are functionally values, this is how the r26b in the 787b had such a wide power band while still na.

      @@user-white007 No flex fuel kit needed as long as you have a tune. To change the car to e85 i just emptied my tank and flashed the ethanol tune before filling up. Ive been running e85 for a year now, and have a friend thats doing the same for 8 months with his his brz. No issues at all, it is important to note that if you live in area that gets snow in the winter or just really cold, cold starts crank for longer until the car actually starts, and once started might want to rev it lightly or else the engine might just stall. Is it wise to get the BRZ with the Brembo brake setup, or should I get the BRZ limited and use the recommended brake setup from this video?
    Which is better?

    • @Motoroso
      @Motoroso  Před 2 lety

      Hey Tee, it depends what kind of premium you pay for the Brembo equipped. Its definitely a better set up, but the aftermarket rotors and pads will be a major upgrade. The brembo calipers are really the big upgrade there, and they will be signifigantly better than the base calipers. If you have to pay a $2k+ premium for the Brembo equipped car though, then I'd consider getting a full BBK (Big Brake Kit) in the aftermarket (we didn't cover this on our video), and that would be an even more signifigant improvement over the brembo OEM option. It's a trade-off, how much braking performance you're really looking for. If we're talking about street driving, the non-brembo brakes and a good set of rotors and pads will be awesome. If you're looking for some occassional trackdays, the brembo equipped car will be a leg up. If you wanna hit the track HARD and frequenetly, skip the OE brembo's and go straight to an aftermarket BBK. Feel free to give us a call at 833.MOTOROSO if you wanna get into the conversation around a full BBK.
