Hey Dave God bless you and thank you for taking the time to help people to live a better lifestyle.
I took your course and in 1 year paid off two credit cards that have a 2k balance have the emergency fund sold my car that I was 5 thousand upside down in I inherited from an ex got a unsecured loan on the negative equity that I set on auto pay in tackling that, I bought a car with 90k miles less that is a 2013 for 20k OTD and lowered my payment from 425 per month on the other car to 375.00 on this car as soon as the unsecured loan is paid off from the other vehicle. I'll be double what I'm paying on my student loans. I paid one off my student loans off with a state tax return that was 5k now I'm paying off the 13.5k welding school loans. I'm making 60k yearly with my day job I'm 29 years old with no mortgage. And currently have 36k in debit
If I was your son what advice would you give me moving forward.
      Thank you in advance.

Thank you for making me a millionaire. I am 42, have 15yrs to go before retirement and save between 70% to 80% of my salary every month. I have zero debts and I am the happiest soul on earth. If cash cant afford it, then its not worth it. Nothing can ever replace the joy of getting a full salary and then saving 80% of it. I am a happy minimalist. (so you have to be even more disciplined than in the past) Pensions are also a thing of the past and S.S. keeps getting worse, so even more reason to save and invest, instead of spending money and or going into debt over stuff you don't need.

"Millionaire" is so relative to currency. I was a "millionaire" within the first four years after I started taking money serious. But that was just $150k US money and the price of a very small apartment in my country at the time, but I had paid it down, and yes I TOOK A LOAN. After that me and a friend started a tire changing side business. Hard work but we made on average about $80 each an hour 14 hours a day for a total of 6 weeks a year. I made as much on that than I made the rest of the year working night shifts. Then we funded a business that did well, the cost was just under $100k, they couldn't afford it but they had a plan we believed in that the banks didn't. Now I have over a million $ and I'm about to retire and move to somewhere cheap. I might get tired after a few years and go back, but why not, I'll still be under 50.

Dave, lot of self-made millionaires use credit cards but they are disciplined with their spending. It’s not the plastic card that makes you broke it’s the behaviour.

Dave’s advice of not using credit cards are good for the stupid people who spend like no tomorrow. Lots of self-made millionaires and successful people use credit cards. Just need to be disciplined. It’s like saying don’t live near shopping malls, restaurants, etc because you are likely to spend more. That may be true but can someone live like that. Anytime something is more convenient, there’s more chance of spending. Why not lock yourself in a house so there is no temptation

Preach! All these people opening credit cards just for air miles/points, bragging up their Chase Sapphire and Delta rewards. Nope, not me. I stick to my debit card and one credit card, used only when needed (e.g., business travel, big ticket purchases). Like Dave said, I've never met anyone get rich from credit card churning.

Roguenify we are debt free and put our normal expenses on credit card for miles, we actually use out miles for vacations and trips to see family. If you pay off 100% every month I don't see the problem (Fico score is above 800)

I'm not sure if I completely agree with the whole "no credit cards" thing. Of course, I don't know nearly as much as Mr. Ramsey, but here's my two cents: I do agree that these credit cards are designed to get people to spend more than they physically have (since they're making money off of the interest and your credit card debt), but if you're smart enough you can actually use this to your advantage.
First of all, Discover offers 5% cashback. Now, I know, it's dumb to say that "Oh, I'm going to spend 100,000 dollars so that I can get 5,000 dollars". But think about it like this, if you just pay your bills on time and, therefore, don't accrue any interest (and spend reasonably), every time you *wisely* spend 100,000 dollars, you basically get 5,000 for free. Yeah, it seems like peanuts, but this stuff adds up. If you're smart with your money, you're basically earning extra cash just for being sensible.
Secondly, the ability to spend money you don't have yet actually improves your purchasing power. This is a bit of an abstract concept, but purchasing power is not just about how much money you physically have - there's also the factor of time. For example, let's say you want or need to buy something and you receive your paycheck next week, you can buy the item right now and pay it off once you receive your paycheck (obviously, assuming that the sequence is that you buy before you receive your paycheck which is all before you pay off your monthly bill, which is before the due date)
The third and huge advantage of paying with your credit card is building your credit history/score. If you ever need to take on a loan, having a really good credit history/score will make you qualified for the best possible interest rates which, in turn, means you save more money. Also, as an added bonus, credit cards have really good purchase protection.
