More Kim Jung Gi! I got behind the scenes access to film a sketchbook tour during a workshop in LA! He took out his latest 2 sketchbooks from his backpack to show us what he’s been working on while telling stories behind the drawings. This video is infused with some of Kim’s “naughty energy” so keep that in mind if you have sensitive eyeballs.
Want more Gi in your life? Check out the other videos we’ve done with him below.

Who do you think needs to do a sketchbook tour?
Sinix
YOU
Miles Johnston, Anton Vill (does anyone know if this dude is even alive? Hasn’t posted anything in years now)
JAW COOPER
Any concept artists especially those who involved in movie/video game productions. I always wonder what their sketchbook would look like.
"You know you're gonna watch it", I don't like being called out like that Proko.
how dare he mock us! why, I'm so upset I'm just going to watch the video all the way through, like and comment. The fiend, that'll show him
jokes on you! I have short attention span and jumped across the video.
But it's also kim jung gi sooo...
You are obviously going to watch the vid😂
Even I was like "Damn you Proko! You know you're right."
Nice name
I hope Kim Jung Gi rests in peace. He and his art will live forever in every single artists and every single sketch he inspired. He will be missed
what beautiful things he left behind for us. Rest easy, legend.
He is dead????????😢
@narutouzumaki-jd9qy unfortunately yes, he past away october 2022
Not only is Kim Jung Gi Inspiring in his work, but also how he thinks. He draws whatever he wants, whenever he wants, he doesn't care what you think. He just draws, because he loves drawing. Now that so many are becoming digital artist we value are ability in how many likes or followers we have. I've slowly managed to drift away from that mindset and it feel so much better about myself when I'm simply drawing for myself, and no one else.
Great comment!!
i feel the same, but the reality is, that nobody will pay for this unless youre really really good like him. i draw since 15 years now and i am not even close to him.
@@FlyAwayTooHighToday Roughly, how often would you say you have been drawing during those 15 years?
@@holynuclearbeans3018 yeah because that's the point, I absolutely don't think that you draw 15 years every day 3-4 hours or even more.
That's admirable even if you are doing commissions or work for someone. You might not be able to choose the exact topic of your drawing but remembering to find enjoyment in it or at least some kind of satisfaction is very important not only for you but to get the best outcome.
The amount of dynamism and detail he puts into such SMALL drawings is absolutely _staggering._
Memorandom ...do you know what brand of black marker he uses? Thanks
@@marteld7789 are you f*cking serious xDDD
@@memberofthesun3497
Idk the marker looks very high quality, tho.
MARTEL D He says he normally likes drawing with ball point pens, he also enjoys stylographs and Sakura brush pens. He just draws with whatever, a pen brand does not determine how good your drawing will turn out. Just use whatever is reliable and feel comfortable using.
@@marteld7789 Pentel Pocket Brush, ballpoint pen, Copic Multiliner, and Pigma Micron
Damn. Whenever I see Kim Jung Gi's drawings I feel either amazingly inspired or utterly crushed.
in my case, inspired, everytime, the fact that kim jung gi is that good is also the fact that its possible to reach his level of expertise, and i never wanted to draw like kim jung gi necessarily, i just want to take what i like from him and apply it to my own art, so ye, never crushed, always inspired
Yeah same sometime watching this stuff makes me depressed but at other times I can get motivated.
¿Porque no las dos?
You shouldn't be crushed, really. Jung Gi has over 20 years of professional experience behind his belt, having spent countless hours on his mastery, practicing it every day. It doesn't take talent alone to reach this kind of finesse. So, unless you've wasted your life doing absolutely nothing, there should be no regret, you can't simply compare yourself to someone who spent this much time on a particular skill; you've still got a road ahead of you :)
You are not alone.
So many drawings of his wife and children...hits real different man...hope they're doing well. My prayers to them 🙏
That was the worst part after I heard that he died.. he always talked about his wife and kids. Also how he draws with them etc. I hope they'll find peace and strength to keep going.
@@DosenbrotWTF I agree, it's so devastating. Kim talks about them so much and I know they loved each other deeply. Incredibly heart-breaking. Hope they are well supported
Wow im just now learning he passed??😢
Seeing this discourages me and encourages me at the same time.
LMAO SAME
Hurts that there will never be any more of his art, truly a legend. May he rest in peace
Since I discovered him I started drawing even more trying to expand my visual library to become better and better
And it is working
A lot
same here
It's been 2 months how's the progress
That’s amazing I wish u good luck
Been foing the same thing and it's just amazing.
The amount of time I use in general just observing things saves me a sea of time trying to find the right reference it's making me want to draw even more
I started 2 days ago. Can't say I see progress but i'm doing anywhere from 10-30 minutes of daily real life sketching. Hopefully in a year I'll see improvements
(I already have little drawing experience, mainly with perspective but I stopped for two years to pursue music. In general I never had free hand drawing skills, but I want to achieve it)
Man... Seeing the one of his family... That hurts. Hope they're safe and being taken care of. The fact that he died so suddenly is incredibly shocking and hurtfull for all artists, but I can't even imagine how it must be for his family.
He got the autograph of so many legends in the second book! I was surprised to see the autograph of sculptor who worked on shin Godzilla’s tail! Super cool
yea because he is a legend too
His naughty drawings are my fav. He should keep ignoring the haters (not his wife tho xD)
I like that even they are naughty, he does it in an artistic or inocent way.
@@SandhuS-co8fb this is not to masturbate, but they have great style and perspective, that's all.
@@SandhuS-co8fb Why do you keep suggesting getting a girlfriend? Does getting a girlfriend make you stop appreciating interesting drawings?
And if so, why would anyone want that?
Kim Jung Gi has a wife and he still draws this stuff. What now? Should he get a girlfriend too?
@@SandhuS-co8fb I know how to write it,but the keyboard changed it automatically, since English is not my native language, and I can't get a girlfriend because I'm asexual.
OOF.
@@SandhuS-co8fb I changed stile into "style",are you happy now? something changed in this way,or does the comment mean the same?
Kim Jung Gi was such an amazing artist. Rest in peace

I genuinely say “Let’s Go!” out loud when I see this notification. I love Kim Jung Gi!!!
Let's-a-go
I wanted to like this comment but when i saw 69 likes my finger stopped
As a mexican, I feel so embarrassed every time I hear about what happened, even though I wasn't even there, it's not the first time this happens. Thank you to all artists that are still willing to come to conventions in Mexico.
Same.
@Proko if you ever see Kim Jung Go again tell him we're sorry that happened to him.
What happened?
@@algerarrendadora9812 Watch the video
Stop being so dramatic, it happens in every city, every country, I am from NY and it happens here too, to famous people and to every one else. Deja el drama.
i don't get it, what happened? already watched that part but what happened?
We will greatly miss you, Master.
If art had it's own CZcams category. Your channel would always be trending!
Allie Lally it literally does tho
@@Enders.paradise888 Isn't it an "animation" category? 🤔
Rest In Peace, a legend for sure
Am I the only one that realized that he often draws an eye on the back on his head. Since I'm into meditation, I feel like this is somehow the point he's focusing on as an observer of the scene he's about to draw. Like this is the perspective he takes, I think.
I thought the same thing too i think he draws it as more of a symbol of him being able to visualize behind his head
It’s an esoteric thing
Illuminati
In the tour of his book with the green cover, in the beginning there is an image of his head with an eye on the top of his head, and he said he did not like that picture. Or the color green for the cover
@@recoveringsoul755 yeah, he said they made him do it and it was embarrassing or something
Kim is always such a motivation for all of us artists, being able to draw almost anything anywhere sounds like so much fun!
I still can't get over how detailed but legible his work is
Just looking at his sketches, nevermind his explanations of them, makes me smile. This man is a legend.
Unbelievable talent! How the hell he have all those details in his head , just crazy skills 👏🏼
OMG.... Thank you so much Kim Jung Gi..... The Art world lost such a great hero...
Man....no words....he surprises as well as motivates me every time I go to see a video on him. Salute to him and Mr. Stan for the good work😊🙏
I’ve been drawing without reference like Kim for more than a year now, I like to think I’ve gotten pretty good but I always come back to his videos and it just shows me how much more I can improve, the fact he can do all this without reference is really awe inspiring
This guy just makes me more and more humble each time I look at all of his genius work of art! Truely a brilliant man! My true inspiration in my life and i wished I discovered him much sooner. And such humble genuine guy! Long live the master Kim Jung Gi! God bless
The thing that most impresses me is the perfection in his perspectives
I've never cried from looking at someone else's work but he takes the cake
This man is really something else
No silence in his work, I love it, everything moves, and lives in its own dimension
His attention to detail is ASTOUNDING, I can't help feel mesmerized and crushed at the same time 😱
This must be the best I saw from him so far, love the family drawings. Great video, thanks!
Naoki Uraswa’s autograph?? 😱
Monster is my most favorite series, I’m so jealous...
just love drawing or watching some 1 draw characters... u get absolute freedom when making a character as you can draw them as your own without any hesitation...
The level of detail is idk how to describe it. It is incredible.
hell I love his drawings so fakin much !!! he is one of the best artist in the world right now !
Kim Jung Gi is amazing, and it's great to see he's also a fan of other people! I didn't expect to see Urasawa in there but I'm glad he's a fan too.
This is a very needed break from an uneventful evening. Thanks! Love Kim Jung Gi
Kim Jung Gi is just a phenomenal artist and I strive to possess a fraction of his talent
I recently found out about Kim Jung Gi from your channel. I absolutely love his work, it's so full of life and character
Heck yeah I'm going to watch it!
I love Jung gi’s sense of humor
I find it surprising how honest he is with his drawings and about his drawings. It's refreshing.
best title ever! and yea, true.. Im a simple man, I see Kim Jung Gi talks and shows his art, I click
By far One of your best videos about drawing from the imagination
I love that last family trip, he really shines with reference
YES I AM. I will probably watch it multiple times. Thanks for sharing such great content.
You know it’s one of the best video if it has kim jun gi in it
Been waiting for this!!!!
Also while watching parasite I literally was thinking about how cool it would be if Kim did some Drawings from it, the movie has some fantastic editing and beautifully shot scenes
8:06 oh man, that Sushio signature. thanks for filming this.
Magnificent (and naughty ) work as usual. Thank you proko for giving us this show and tell. 😂😗💞💗
That was awesome. Thanks, Stan. Thanks to the Proko Team too. I would very much like to see him draw more from imagination.
His artwork are simply amazing. And as an artist you can draw anything you want in your sketchbook so I hope people don't get angry with him sketching those sexual drawings. These days people are sensitive.
Getting angry because he is a normal human being... people are ridiculous. If humans wouldn`t be naturally interested in sexuality, we would have long been gone from that planet. It is best to just completely ignore what society tells you nowadays because they are literally offended by any bs, might it be as small and insignificant as it can get.
Honestly I feel it would've been worse in the past lol a lot more people are open nowadays
I would love to see a Sketchbook tour from Yusuke Murata I'm a huge fan of his work the way he draws backgrounds and characters from unconventional angles is just amazing you can even draw 3D cinematography it's just mind-blowing
His sketchbooks are priceless artifacts
I'm def going to save up for some his books and lessons to improve my art, rip mr Kim 🙏
Amazing! You guys just keep giving more!!🤣
I cant get enough of these
I love his style, I love the art of inking it looks like grown up art !!!
I only just discovered him yesterday. Will def be watching and consuming all the content on him I can
Rest in peace kim jung gi you will not be forgotten 🙏🙏
He is helpful through his art. Glad to improve.
i could watch him forever
Such a legend.
This man is a miracle
This is no ordinary art. It must be the work of 「HEAVEN'S DOOR」
thx for this series of video . it is really usefull .
i use is advise and yours alote and i was able to improv my style . thx again
I love how unapologetic he is in a room full of people, he does his thing and doesn't care what you think.
You got me very curious about that VR session on Proko's Studio...
Hopefully we get that as a video, looks like it would be fun to watch
Yep
of course I'm going to watch it
This is the best art in the wold
It's all just so Amazing!!!
"you know you're going to watch it"
listen here you little-
youre goddang right im gonna watch this
Really inspiring to see his sketchbook. I don't know why people think that he has some kind of unhuman powers being able to draw whatever he wants without ref, but I think this is possible for everyone, it's just a lot of hard work and observation in real life. You gotta observe in your daily life things and try to memorize them. The more you do this, the better you'll get. It's practice.
Hell yes! Love the Kim Jung Gi videos on the channel! He has such an awesome personality. Anyway, Hyundai made a huge mistake rejecting him
He had left us so soon. His legacy will forever be alive.
Living Legend!
Bernard Werber and Kim Jung Gi together OMG that sounds awesome !
Honestly,,, yes Proko. I had to watch
I LOVE THIS
Here I am, WATCHING IT! 😆😆😉
It's ridiculous how detailed his sketches are.
nobody in a million years is going to be this great.. but keep tryin this is crazy
I love watching videos like this keep them coming more
I miss you so much master, but with you and Toriyama-Sensei in heaven watching me, and all the aspiring and current amazing artists, we can keep drawing, improving, practicing and creating what you and many others as well as all of us love, Art. It crushes my heart to see many artists go, but, I know you all would be sad if we didn't keep drawing, so I promise I won't stop, it would've been beautiful to meet you, but you left your amazing work with us so you and many others will always live through those pieces.
RIP legend
HANDS DOWN THE BEST DRAFTSMAN ALIVE RIGHT NOW
Thank you for the video! The sketches are amazing! I want to get on that level!
This is great!
That's seriously impressive. Study Songz pick up your gaaame
I love how easy he makes it seem. NBD
Im so glad there is another one of these!!!! ToT
This reminds me of the first time I saw a book full of Norman Rockwell's work and sketches.
I love watching these
I miss him
