To be fair, anytime your are working with the general public who are not professionals in your field you will get asked the same few questions over and over. Even in a retail shop you get the same half dozen questions 100+ times a day.

@@littleripper312any professional would simply answer the question, 1 million times if that's what it takes. Being too high and mighty to answer a simple question makes these "professionals" look like what they are, fools. Before becoming "a professional" all people who pursued fine arts asked this. All. You don't become a professional by switching from noob to pro without asking any questions. You become that by copying, tracing, emulating accomplished artists etc. Basically you do everything so called "professionals" condone.

@Elijah Rey Bautista idk, theres plenty of outstanding paintings done with sticks and fingers, old used brushes, or stuff that only vaguely resembles a brush. But I generally just meant when people ask about an experienced artist's tablet, or their fine-liner, or brush, that it really doesn't matter. I dont think Jung Gi's quality would diminish if he was to draw with a 1 dollar fine-liner in a 1 dollar sketchbook. His skill is what creates the quality, not the material.

      It’s No Joke
Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death.
      -Revelation 20:14
People are selective when it comes to the subject of God and the afterlife. They like the idea of a God who is loving, completely accepting, and tolerant. People can go along with a deity like that.
But they don’t like the notion of a God who is also just. And they reject the idea that God would send some people to Hell, or at least a lot of people they know. They would like to think that certain people will be in Hell for the horrible crimes they’ve committed. But they don’t expect themselves or family and friends to end up there.
Yet Hell is a real place for real people. And according to the Bible, Hell is a miserable place of torment and separation from God that lasts for eternity.
As Timothy Keller pointed out in The Reason for God, “In our culture, divine judgment is one of Christianity’s most offensive doctrines.
When you bring up this topic, people get upset. Maybe one reason is widespread misinformation about Hell. It certainly is not a party place. And it is absolutely not a joke. If it were, Jesus would never have talked about it in the way that He did.
Most of the biblical teaching on Hell comes from Jesus Himself. He spoke about it more than anyone else in the Bible. And He spoke about it in a very specific way. More than half of the parables Jesus told relate to God’s eternal judgment of sinners.
We cannot pick and choose things in the Bible that personally appeal to us and then throw the others aside. We can imagine, as John Lennon famously sang, that Heaven and Hell don’t exist. But that won’t change the fact that they are real.
The Bible tells us there are two deaths: one is physical and the other is spiritual. In Revelation 20:14 we read, “Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death”
The next chapter also mentions the second death: “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars-their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death” (21:8)
The second death this is speaking of is Hell.
If you are born once, you will die twice. You are born physically, and you will die physically. And then you will face the second death and eternal separation from God.
But if you are born twice, you will die once. You are born physically, and you are born again spiritually when you put your faith in Christ. You will face only the first death (unless, of course, the Rapture happens in your lifetime)
Scripture tells us that the second death is what we should fear.
God has given us a free will, so where we spend eternity is really our choice. Not everyone will be saved in the end-only those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ.

That's why he hates the question. I also remember a seminar or performance he did where he only used a Bic ballpoint pen, the most generic pen you can get, as a kind of way to prove his point and also stop people from asking that question.

I wonder what sort of variations came out of different regions. Should be an interesting research hole to dive into!

First of all rest in piece Master, you were such a great inspiration for me.
I would like to share my point of view about this whole "pen" discussion. The city I live in, there is no big art stores where you can find different materials. Until I saw Kim Jung Gi's work I didn't know something like a brush pen ever existed and in my opinion I see nothing wrong with being curious about something new. So If I had ever stumbled upon a such pen I wouldn't know what to do with it. Even Pentel didn't know that a brush pen could be used as a drawing tool as Master explained in this video, they were designed as calligraphy pen.
Also as you can see he puts out of his bag a kind of correction tool. Did you notice? I did a bit of research and found out that most artists use such tools for their drawings. When I dug deeper I found that there are white inks existed and they are better than those white roller pens which I mostly use for highlighting in watercolor and graphite drawings. Do you see where I am getting at?
I have no option to find what tool work for my drawings what does not, no budget to test all different things, and no time. So I highly depend on the art works I see online that other people do and how they do it (especially cheap materials). The goal is not to copy what other did or "if i get this pen I can be like him". I totally understand Master's frustration about the situation but I like mix media, mix and match different supplies. So I would like to know what pen or what paint, what tool is used. So I can do my research and if necessary buy it "online" and try it out myself.
As a conclusion, I am really grateful for him sharing his knowledge about the tools and how he used. I learned a lot...

Not everyone will be saved in the end-only those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ.

great mentality to have if you want to never improve, stay stuck with "your artstyle" for your whole life, and only receive compliments and recognition from likeminded "everything is art" people. also the "keep drawing and practicing" thing that everyone says all the time is potentially harmful. it's very important that you practice correctly, with books (on things like perspective, lighting, anatomy etc), reference, guidance etc. don't lie to yourself and follow shitty advice (like I did) and "just draw", wasting years of your life

Loaded question suggesting a pen can affect your ability, a common misconception since any pen in a practiced hand can produce art.

I got a bunch for $4 here in Canada a month ago on Amazon. I go through those things like candy so it was nice to stock up. Make sure you use bottled ink though as those cartridges barely hold any ink and cost a ton. I go through 2 a day easy. Also you don't have to fill up the actual cartridge you can just fill the barrel and screw it closed. Japanese inks work the best.

This reminded be of Beaudoin doing a demo with what looked like a broken chopstick and some ink wrapped in a cloth. He came up with it and a sheet of paper and said : "So now I'm going to do a random line and draw from there." He did a wonderful portrait. In the end, he saw that my dad who was doing the sound was really interested in his work. He said : "You like? You can have it if you want." Then he signed the page and gave it to my dad. So if any collector from Japan with big bucks is interested, I have a Beaudoin original somewhere... just KIDDING it stays here!!!

You can use the fact that the pentel brushes are water-based to your advantage. I have some cheap fillable brush pens I filled with different strength ink-washes which I like to combine with the pure ink. And I have a water-only pen which you can use to either blend or to do the same kind of subtle effects Kim Jung Gi achieves here by smudging.. just picking up a tiny bit of ink from one of the black areas and use it to do very very soft smooth shadows.
